Located just a block south of Parthenia and Reseda, Simply Relax is my best bet for a cheap yet quality massage outside of the San Gabriel Valley. The therapists here are well trained in the full Thai massage regiment. I walked out of there as limber as a teenager after a 90 minute massage. With tip, it was only $60! Negatives are the oil smell that permeates the room, the open front door making it cold on certain days, and the frequent leaving to answer phones. Let's put the 5 stars in perspective: It's an inexpensive Thai massage parlor on Reseda Blvd. It's a little old and outdated on the inside and it's separated by curtains, not walls. Having said that, the massage is always outstanding. I usually get Pon, who is fantastic. She gets right down to business and learns your body very quickly. Don't forget to tip well! I have never been so excited to get naked in front of a stranger in my whole life. But last week it finally happened. Let me explain: my back and shoulders were KILLING ME! I needed a place to abuse my back and get my knots out. I was around the area and the reviews seemed good, so I gave it a try. They are very accommodating with scheduling, I called to push my appt & they said no problem. Upon arriving they inform me they have a special: $50 for 90 minutes. Cheap!! I pay up front, and follow my lovely masseuse through a door that leads to a bunch of small "rooms" separated by curtains only. I knew this coming in, so it wasn't as weird as it would of been if I didn't check Yelp first. She leads me in a room and tells me to strip and lay face down on the table. It's dark in there & it was a bit too cold so they were nice enough to turn the heat on. My first massage was great, but I made the mistake of not mentioning where I wanted most of the pressure focused. My second massage was better, I let her know where my problems were and damn she LET ME HAVE IT! They also stretch you in weird ways & when I asked what she was doing she said Thai yoga so...there's a first for me. Overall I'm now pain free and I plan to go back once a week. For what it is..not a fancy place but a cheap clean place that gets down to business, it's just what I need. The hot stones are AWESOME as well. read more

I come here at least once a month and have never, ever been disappointed. This is not some poshy Beverly Hills day spa, so don't go there with that expectation. But it is the BEST massages I've ever had and I don't think anyone can beat 90 minutes for $50. It's well worth way more than that. These are Thai style massages so you will be on the floor, not on a massage bed. That did hurt my neck just a little but not so bad that it's any kind of real complaint. 1 last compliment for this place is not only do they have incredible massages for prices that can't be beat anywhere, they are open late hours to easily accomodate us 9-5ers. I got a massage today (a Monday) and they were open until 9pm. BRING CASH. If you're going to pay by credit card, they charge an extra $2. Not that it's a big deal given the incredible price, but if you're looking to get the best possible deal, make sure you come in with cash. Went here yesterday after months of desperately needing a massage. I decided to try it from all the great reviews I read and it definitely lived up to them. The place is nicely decorated, very peaceful with soothing music. They asked where i had any pain and assured they would work on it. My therapist was Wanna, besides being super cute, she did wonders on my shoulders and spent a lot of time on all my knots! After my 90 minute massage, I felt loose and relaxed. My husband gave me a gift certificate to this place for a 90 min massage. He told me they have good Yelp reviews. My massage was WONDERFUL! They asked me at the front desk if I had any neck or back issues. Tina did a great job asking throughout the massage if she used to much pressure or do I want more. I loved the Thai / Swedish combo!! The heated rocks were a very nice surprise. This message was a nice hybrid of the "hurts so good & aaahh this is relaxing". Just a tip: I mistakenly walked in to another massage place 3 doors down ( looked pretty seedy - probably one of those "happy ending" places?? ). Simply Relax looks like your average Thai massage joint but I'm happy to report it's way above average. The only thing that gave me some hope were the positive Yelp reviews. I was totally impressed with the quality deep tissue massage I received! Upon my 2nd visit I couldn't recall the name of my previous masseuse so I went with another. She also was great with similar deep tissue skills. 3rd visit- Another new masseuse Also excellent. --- It's rare that I discover a massage place with a solid staff of deep tissue therapists. I've been here numerous times, and have never been dissappointed. It's only $40 an hour cash, or $42 with a credit card. BFD. To me, this beats going to the chiropractor to get your back adjusted. After a night of work and a long day of running around in the valley, my friend took me here to get my shoulder loosen up. I could not believe the price for a 90 min massage for just $50!!! During my massage session I was so relaxed that it felt as if I could have fallen asleep to the nice ambient and Asian stringed music that was playing as the therapist worked on me. I often go to a chiropractor to get adjusted but sometimes my back or shoulder does not feel as loose, like it felt after the massage session I had. Simply Relax went above and beyond what I expected service wise and how I thought I would feel after the session. It was very difficult for me to rate this place. On the one hand, they have great prices and were super understanding when I was late (really late) for my appointment due to jamzilla (405 N closure). The girl I had was super responsive to my requests, both for a very firm massage as well as my focus areas with extra tension. The massage style as others have mentioned is part Swedish, part Thai. Having had Thai massages in Thailand, this was MUCH better to me. It is usually a bit too painful for me. However the interior decorations and setup are much more similar to a Thai massage parlor than an American spa. It felt good mostly, I should have asked for more Swedish, less Thai. It was not my favorite massage ever. I didn't feel all my tension ease, but my fiancé loved it. All that said I landed on 4 stars. read more

Last Sunday i made an appointment at 6pm for me, my mom and my brother..although the place is clean, everyone is nice, the massage is great but that was not the reason why i am writing this review. I paid for an hour massage, just so happened that my masseuse was the one answering the phone. She has to answer the call and assist the new customers. First of all, you don't stop the massage so you can go answer the phone. If you don't have enough staff, you shouldn't be booking the massage. Second, if your customer says you are hurting them, you should stop instead of asking the customer if he has ever gotten a message. My reply to you is that have you given a massage. If you put pressure on your bone with elbows yet that hurts. You are supposed to massage the muscle. Terrible. Won't be visiting again. read more

Just finished a deep tissue massage with Jenny. Incredible! Strong and focused exactly where I needed it, and in the end some Thai stretches that really helped. Only things to know: deep massage doesn't get the early bird discount, and they charge $2 for credit card. Also, the one thing the salon could do to improve is to make the rooms a little warmer. Amazing! My only regret was I wish I had done a longer massage. I normally go to cheaper massage parlors because I don't really notice a difference but with this place it was completely different! The service was great as well as the atmosphere. I told the receptionist what I was looking for in a massage and they recommended I do the combination and it was Perfect for my needs. It's my birthday today and this place was where I wanted to spend my afternoon. Why??? Well, because the ladies know how to make you simply relax . The women are extremely talented and very professional. The first time I came in here my body was tense from working at a salon for weeks. Also I have 2 kids which can be quite stressful. Finally decided to come in and try out their deep tissue massage and got dam!!! The masseuse seemed so quiet and small but when she got her hands on me, it was on. She began removing knots I didn't know were there. She massaged me from the top of my head all the way down to my toes. I was afraid to let her put so much pressure on me but once I relaxed and let her do her thing I realized I needed all that pressure to pop those knots out. The fact that they can do this for an entire hour makes it worth my buck. Every single time I walk out of there I feel like a totally new person. This place is very low key, but once you experience it you'll keep going. I do at least ounce a month and if I could go more I would. I can tell the difference now that I've come here several times. My body is not as stiff as the first time I came in. As you become a regular your body begins to feel more fluid. Love this place a lot! read more

Atmosphere felt relaxing: minimal distracting sounds, dark ambient lighting, and background music was really soothing. The overall experience was truly amazing.
