Ambry Organizing - Monica Bree Rhodes

If you have a multigenerational home, Monica can be so incredibly helpful to your parents, you and your kids. She can discuss options sensitively to aging parents and also thoughtfully include your kids in a new routine of helping the household. She reorganised our kitchen so that my young kids can help unload the dishwasher easily. They also now do their own laundry. And take ownership of their things and keeping their room tidy. Monica's team is also so kind and helpful to work with. They are respectful and completely non judgmental. I really appreciate how quickly and thoroughly they work. Monica also has amazing sense of making a home flow more easily and rearranging things to give more space and natural movement. Her design input has also been really appreciated and exactly what I needed when I was near the end of my pregnancy and needed someone to take initiative and follow through. She gave me options and storage solutions that have really improved how we organize the home. Thank you Monica and your team for helping us get ready for baby and I look forward to working with them again in the future.

She's great at listening to concerns and finding solutions, and will work with you no matter what crazy things you get up to... like our dog paw wiping station. In just 3 sessions, we tackled the kitchen, living and dining rooms, and guest rooms. It was inspiring working with her! I decluttered with excitement in between sessions, looking forward to her advice in organizing and styling the space. Our place is so much more airy, flows better, and most everything has a home. I would recommend Monica to anyone looking to upgrade the form OR function of their spaces.

Tl;dr: Nicoll is AMAZING and clearly knows what she's doing when it comes to professionally…read moreorganizing your home! Read on below if you want more details about the whole process. So...here's the thing about me. I love stuff. I love having a variety of stuff. I love having colorful pens, cute bags, books...you name it, and I probably started collecting some of it at some point. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with wanting to have and own those things. But what I did notice was that the sheer amount of that stuff was really starting to stress me out. Things didn't have a place. My closet and dresser and drawers were stuffed to the brim. I found it difficult to enjoy these fun things I owned because they were mixed in with other things I didn't enjoy or use anymore. I found that I was hanging onto so many items for years "just in case," and the case would never arrive. I'd tried for years with things like the minimalist challenge and reading self help books to try and get rid of things, but I couldn't seem to make a dent. That's where Nicoll came in. My partner helped me find Nicoll on Yelp and connected the two of us together. We had an introductory phone call where she asked me some questions, and I shared my frustrations with getting rid of things and really needing help with it. We ended up making an appointment for a week later where she showed up with her toolkit and bag of bags for donations. We did a little walk around and I shared areas of stress for me and what I wanted out of the space, which was to know where everything was and to know what I owned. After the intro assessment we dove right in. In the next few hours we: ⁃ Took EVERYTHING out of my closet and purged SO much of it. We went piece by piece and she helped ask clarifying questions (when did I last wear it? Do I like it?) and could usually pick up on if I actually liked something. I noticed patterns of how I reacted when I loved something vs when I wasn't sure or was sort of convincing myself. This is an exercise I tried doing before on my own, but when there's someone standing there, who you paid to help you, who's not attached to your stuff....let me tell you, it changes the game. I found myself deciding to donate (and sometimes sell) what must have been at least a third of my closet (clothes, hats, bags, electronics, etc). ⁃ She busted out her label maker and helped organize and label shelves in categories that made sense. Now I know where everything is! ⁃ She packed up all the items I decided to donate into bags and packed them into her car. It ended up being about 15 bags of things which was absolutely wild to me. Nicoll taking these bags out of my house was a game changer, because there have been many times I've decided to donate items that just end up sitting there in bags for months! I noticed that night going to bed that my room felt emptier, in a really good way. It felt calmer, cleaner, and like I could breathe a bit easier. Some people might read this and think that they shouldn't have to hire someone to help them organize. I know for myself that I hit a wall when it came to organizing on my own, and I needed to ask for help. I'm so glad I did, because it changed my life and my relationship with "stuff." I'm confident that Nicoll will be able to help you if you need it, and I cannot recommend her enough!

She helped me get straight to work purging, organized my awkward old-house spaces, and packed up all my donations and e-waste when she left leaving the house feeling so free. Highly recommend! Kanika is an extremely talented designer, and I can't recommend her enough!…read more We bought a house in March 2020 - signed the contract days before covid stay at home orders. My husband and I then spent two years working from home together in our front room (we call it the study now) without any rhyme or reason, just putting our desks wherever they fit, because it all happened so quickly. It was awkward and ugly, cords and monitors everywhere, and not a great look for people walking in our front door. The whole time, I was thinking, "when this is done and at least one of us goes back to the office, I want to make this room into a nice space to read and relax, and also to WFH when I have to." That's where Kanika comes in. I tried changing the place up on my own, but every choice I made seemed to make my space uglier and more awkward. It was time to hire a professional. That decision was worth every penny. In the end, my project turned out to be slightly bigger than just one room. I enlisted Kanika's help in choosing flooring, baseboards and paint for the whole house, furniture for my entire downstairs (we were still using the old living room furniture left by the previous owners), and light fixtures throughout. She was easy to work with and understood immediately what I was going for. My study is a real showstopper now - the walls are this deep blue color that looks amazing, she designed a gorgeous custom bookshelf that makes perfect use of the space, and she picked a couch that is the perfect size, just the right color, and so comfortable. And we still managed to get a desk in there for those WFH days. Literally just the other day, I was on a Zoom with someone and thought "this room behind me is so pretty, it looks like a fake background." But it's real, and in my house! And it wouldn't have happened without Kanika. The paint color she helped me pick for my bedroom is something I never would have chosen on my own, but I still regularly think about how nice it looks whenever I go in there. Same with the color of the living room couch, I'd never have found it on my own, but now that I have it, I love it. She knows her stuff. Kanika's husband Adi runs the business side of things. He managed the project, hiring contractors and keeping everything on schedule. The work was done on time, and he kept us in the loop, patiently answering any concerns or questions. And, no shenanigans with the final cost. Really, hiring Kanika Design was a great decision for us.
