Another great experience here. The name has changed but the service is still quality! Lauren in repairs was so incredibly helpful when helping me to fix my trackpad. She was super patient in dealing with me struggling to confirm coverage through Apple Support's customer service team. She also was super flexible by letting me keep my laptop for school work while I wanted for the trackpad part to come in. She called me a couple days later when the part arrived and my computer was fixed within the hour!! The other folks in the store were very personable and friendly as well. I recently bought a new 15" MacBook Pro and came here to get the info from the hard drive on my old 13" MacBook Pro transferred onto my new computer. I came in on a Monday around noon, and I was not told until the end of my transaction that the transfer would be completed in about three days... The reason I came here was because the closest Apple Store is over an hour away from Athens, and I thought this would be convenient. At the Apple Store, a transfer takes 2-3 hours max. I was fine with waiting a few extra days, though. I called on Wednesday to check the status of the transaction and they had forgotten about it and had yet to begin working on my computer. I started writing this post two years ago and just found it in my drafts, so I'll post what I have. Don't remember much more than what was already typed other than it was one of the worst customer service experiences in my life. My daughter brought her MacBook Air because it wasn't turning on. She was recommended to bring it here ny a teacher at her job. She left the MacBook Air there on Tuesday 8/17 and they said it could take up to 5 days to fix. I was prepared to be hit with a big bill. They left my daughter a voicemail that it was an easy fix and it was ready. There was no charge. That is great customer service! I will bring all my electronic devices there if they are not working. If you are solely purchasing accessories for devices, the staff is very friendly, quick, and helpful. But, if you are coming for a repair at an appointed time, they are always almost 30 minutes late and are not informative about when they will serve you. I stood in the store waiting for 30 minutes after my appointment time to just tell them the issue with my phone. They shouldn't say they are available at a certain time if they are not going to speak to you until way after. Also, kind of awkward sitting in the store waiting for your Appt time while people who arrived after you get serviced before. I left without receiving service because of the inconvenience to my schedule. Will not be coming back. read more

Go to the Mall of Georgia for repairs!!!! The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because of the good customer service. No one was rude, and I was happy I wasn't charged the $80 for the diagnostic, but I'm pretty certain they broke my laptop and blamed it on the motherboard. I brought my MacBook Air in because the touchpad quit working. It had no other issues other than that. They had it for ONE day and called to say that it stopped powering on and that the battery wouldn't hold a charge. It is now completely dead and I lost all of my files. I went to the Apple store in the Mall of Georgia and their prices to replace the same parts were a fraction of the price, AND they told me this wasn't the first time they heard of this happening. The service tech at the Mall of Georgia said someone at Simply Mac most likely didn't put my computer back together properly (because you have to undo a bunch of wires) and thats why it won't turn on. read more

A little over a month ago I was having problems with my MacBook Pro. The power supply would stop working every few days and my battery would go flat. I have AppleCare so they sent me to Simply Mac to have it tested. I had told them that it was an intermittent problem and they took it in the back to test. They came back in a few minutes and said the software they used couldn't find a problem. I again tried to explain it was the power supply that would stop charging and the light on the connector would go off. They again said they couldn't find anything. I took it home as it was clear they were not going to test the supply. I ordered a new supply from OWC and after a few days it did the same thing. I then did what I should have done in the first place. I went to the Apple Forums and typed in my problem. Resetting the SMC was suggested. I followed the instructions and have not had a problem since. You would think a Certified Apple Repair center would know how to do this and recognize the problem. Pretty bad when the users on the forums saw the problem and suggested a fix in a few minutes. Good luck if you try to get Simply MAC to repair your computer. If their software says nothing is wrong they can't fix it. Maybe they should check the forums on how to fix the computer or hire some techs that can do more than run software. read more

Checked with these guys about the battery replacement program that Apple offers at $29 due to apples admittedly to purposely throttle some older iPhones (my 6s is a model covered under the program). They said that they would have to run a diagnostic test on the phone and charge me $20 for running the test. I explained that I simply wanted my battery replace due to the known issue and I was told that that have to do the testing as part of their policy. THEY ARE NOT APPLE !!!!!! They are a third party independent of Apple - this means they can do what ever they want to try and get more money from you. They are trying to profit by making you pay for a test that is not required to qualify for the Apple replacement program. Why should you pay for a test when the manufacturer already says there is a problem with the battery? If you take your phone to a real Apple store, they will replace the battery without a test or at least not charge you if they do test the battery. The woman that explained this tried to justify the test by saying that they just want to make sure that there is no other problem with your phone. Nice way of saying let me make more money on this battery issue. If a new battery does not solve my battery issues, then I will pay you for further diagnostics! These guys are learning the auto repair industry tricks of how to charge for things you really do not need or want! Be very aware if you venture into simply mac. Again, THEY ARE NOT APPLE. They are a independent company trying to profit on Apple products and they are very crafty in how to maximize your Apple issues! read more

Terrible, disrespectful, overpriced. Last October I had the flex cable replaced on my 2015 Mac book pro. They charged me $200+ ($100 more than most other places) justified by the fact they are "Apple certified". 12.5 months later the same cable fails. I took my Mac in, the confirmed it was the same problem, and said they offered no prorate on the service to replace it after they made the same repair a year prior. Quoted me at the $200 something price again with a 7-10 day turn around. I took it to Average Joe repair whom I paid $110 to fix it in 2 hours with a FULL GUARANTEE. Not only does this place offer no value proposition (more expensive, for no guarantee and poor work), but the employees are haughty know it all's. Demeaning and usually helpless, they are quite bold for working at a tech repair shop. A word to the management: Get your stuff together... look to good business practices and try to emulate them because as of today, you are missing the mark. There are better options in Athens. Don't support this with your money when there are several honest hardworking shops around town that deserve your money more. read more

I had a very bad experience with this store. I brought my MacBook to this store, because it stopped charging. When I went into the store, they said there was no power; So they had to send it to Apple to be fixed. A few days later someone called and said they were tinkering around with it and were able to get it working. They said I could pick it up. When I asked him if it was going to get sent to Apple as well, He said they would still to do so. As far as I knew, that's what they did. They called again and said they just received it back from Apple, and that it was fixed. After going into the store to retrieve my MacBook, I asked if there was any kind of guarantee. He said no, there wasn't. To which I replied that is why I wanted it to be serviced through Apple. They have a 90 day guarantee that the work that is done, will be upheld. The associate was incredibly rude and kept saying "what, did you not want it fixed?" . To which I replied "of course, I did. But now I have no warranty." We continued going in circles, trying to communicate the reason for my being upset. Until He asked me to leave his store, not come back. Needless to say, they were not very helpful, not reassuring and lacked proper customer service etiquette. read more

I dropped my phone and the home button stopped working. I needed the screen replaced to fix it. Another Apple store told me they found "residue" in my phone and refused to move forward with the change. They told me there was liquid all in my phone somehow. Under the home button area, which is why it was not working (not because I dropped it or anything...) And they told me my phone was no longer able to charge because of allllll the liquid. I had noooo other option but to upgrade to a new phone. Plugged it in. It charged fine. My phone was fine. They just wanted me to feel like it was doomed and would stop working tomorrow and I'd have to upgrade. Went to SimplyMac. Made an appointment. Replaced the screen. No questions asked. I have bought quite a number of items from Simply Mac over the years, but no longer. When my three month old MacBook Pro developed a problem and would not start, displaying an exclamation mark in a circle, I called Apple. They diagnosed the problem and said the firmware needed to be updated. Since the nearest Apple store is 45 miles away at Mall of Georgia they recommended I take it to Simply Mac. I made an appointment. I arrived at the store and checked in for my service appointment and, while they took in a couple of people apparently without appointments in front of me, it didn't take long to get to me. The service tech asked the problem, opened the computer and saw what I described and said "this is a software problem not covered by Apple's warranty. It will cost $150 to fix it." A three month old computer under full warranty and covered by Apple Care. I was beyond angry. I took the computer, walked to my car and called Apple, too angry to drive at the moment. Apple said this problem was indeed covered by warranty and had no idea why Simply Mac would not perform the repair. They checked for available appointments at Apple store, but none were available. The good news is that Apple shipped me a box to send the computer in for repair. I shipped it out on Tuesday and got it back in working order on Thursday. I will never do business with Simply Mac again. read more

I came in with my 2020 MacBook Pro for a fan replacement and ended up with a broken microphone and a 740 dollar repair that they did not take ownership for causing. They did not care about the fact that my microphone was completely fine before I brought it in for the fan replacement and then was broken AS SOON as I took it out of the store. My Wife purchased me an IPad from here before Christmas. I told her I really didn't need one right now after receiving it so we agreed we would return the unopened unit after the holidays. I returned the iPad on January 15 thinking we had till the 21st. There are multiple return dates on their receipt and it is a bit confusing. They agreed to return it but would only do it with a 10% open box fee $42. This was new and unopened. It came out of their store stock and will go right back in the shelf. We will not buy anything from this Non Apple store again. They obviously aren't worried about retaining long term customers. I've been shopping for an Apple Watch and saw the one I wan on Simply Mac's website. I called the store and was immediately put on hold. After waiting over 5 minutes, I hung up and decided to call back later. When I did, the poorly trained employee was very short with me. When I asked about the watch, he said "I think we have it". I then asked him to make sure before I made a trip for nothing- (I could tell that passed him off) so he put me on hold and I assume just left me there on purpose. After a few days, my wife and I decided to stop by the store. There was nobody else in the store except the same rude clerk. He said that he'd be right with us, so we proceeded to look at the watches on display. Another customer came in after us and he decided to wait on her. After she left, another guy came in for a repair and the clerk started helping him, leaving us hanging. After a few minutes of stewing, we left and most definitely won't be back. This place has more than its share of negative reviews for good reason- do yourself a favor and find another source for your Apple related needs. The service center at PeachMac can't be beat! My mom & I took our MacBooks in for service--her laptop was having major issues, while I just had a couple of questions about mine. We were immediately greeted and helped by the two gentlemen manning the service center desk, and within fifteen minutes we both knew exactly what was wrong with our computers. Most of our repairs were covered under Mac's extended warranty, so my computer was fixed for free and my mom only had to pay for her new battery (the other repairs were covered). PeachMac is an authorized Apple dealer. They charge the same prices Mac does, so if you're in Athens, don't think you need to drive to Buckhead in Atlanta in order to get your Mac serviced or to buy Mac-authorized products. I was extremely impressed with the professionalism, the repairmen's ability to explain complicated problems in simple language we could understand, and the speed of the repair. read more

I wish I had listened to all of my friends complaints before going here. I took my MacBook Pro in to get repaired because some of the keys stopped working. They assisted me that day, but failed to inform me it was going to be outsourced or I would have taken it to a Genius Bar. I waited the 10 day period then had to call them for an update because they failed to do so. They said it was ready so I go, pick it up, pay $400 only to find out they failed to actually fixed it. I demanded a refund to which they said they could not give me, and the only solution offered was to shit my computer off again for 10 days. I have now been without a laptop for almost 3 weeks thanks to this place. Take your devices anywhere but here, trust me the extra drive is worth it compared to the nightmare of this place. read more

Probably the worst experience I've had. I came here with a broken screen that needed to get fixed and I left with the same broken screen and now I have to connect my phone to iTunes in order to turn it back on. When asked what had happened because it was not turning on, they simply said to come back the next day because they were about to close. I will not be going back because that's not how I brought my phone and I at least expected them to connect it so it could still be usable. Worst hour and 30 mins of wait. I wish I could give this zero stars. I brought my phone in because I could not connect to cellular data because of a software problem. But then this man messed up my whole phone and deactivated it telling me that I have to ship it back and be without a phone for 4 days. And I never agreed for him to deactivate my phone because it was working perfectly fine on wifi before that. Well I leave Athens in 4 days so thats not going to work. So I had to drive an hour to the apple store for them to fix the problem in 25 minutes. The apple store said they never have seen this kind of error on the phone. What a great start to finals week. Needed a new screen on my iPhone7. The double sided sign in front of the doorway says "SAME DAY SCREEN REPAIR". The guy? inside said he'd have to make me an appointment-2 days later. I mentioned the sign and said that the sign was incorrect-he argued rudely and repeatedly that the sign was correct that they can do the repair the same day...just not the day you bring it it, but 'the same day as your appointment'...Not what the sign says-Very misleading - no it's a complete lie. the bad reviews are a bit confusing to me. i've had a camera replaced on my phone (free under warranty) and my imovie footage restored from an external hard drive ($99) at simply mac and i've never had a bad experience. like most apple retail/repair places, you have to make an appointment before you go or else yeah you will wait forever. duh. the same thing happens at the apple store or at&t etc (but usually longer and more expensive). they generally have more appointment times than the apple store in buford- at least when i've needed them (which has been on weekends and week days). my repairs were done either same day or within one business day. i feel lucky that i don't need to drive all the way to buford to get any repairs done on my apple products. read more

Absolutely rotten service by unctuous employees. I have an Iphone that has been having problems with the home button for quite a while. I took it in to Peachmac about 6 months ago, and the service tech said they could not repair it but it could be replaced for $150. He also noted this is a common problem with the Iphone4. I decided to wait and the problem, although intermittent, has gotten worse; to the point where the phone can be barely useable at times. The whole service experience at Peachmac is annoying enough, filling out a form in advance and then waiting 20 minutes, but then to have a service tech tell me they wouldn't allow me to spend $150 to buy a replacement (old model) phone because the problem is intermittent. What a crock. I emphasize to my kids to support local and repair if possible, Peachmac has done a great job of pointing me toward a Big Box with this type of behavior. read more

One star is too many. I scheduled appointments to have two IPhone 6s batteries replaced a week ago (both are under 80% of original power). With Apple's replacement plan, they are supposed to be $29. I went through Apple's website to make the appointments a week ago to replace the batteries. When I arrived for the appointments (at 11 and 12, since they will only take one appointment per hour) I was told that they did not have the batteries but could get them in a week or so. I was not happy since I had planned ahead, made an appointment, and gone there over another place. I had also scheduled my day around having this done. I wanted to leave but my partner convinced me to just agree and get it over with. Then, the guy mentioned that they would charge an additional $50 as an installation fee on the $29 battery. He blamed it on Apple but it is an entire rip off. This same store charged my uncle a bunch for cleaning lint from his phone to allow his battery to connect better. It took them 30 seconds. I will never set foot in the store again. They waste your time and are deceptive. read more

I am beyond impressed at the customer service! I purchased two sets of USB cords for my iphone 5 (at $15 each). Much to my dismay, one of the cords randomly stopped working about a month after I bought it. I had thrown away the receipt and packaging because I didn't expect the cord to stop working anytime soon. I made up this elaborate explanation on the way to the store so that I could exchange the broken cord for a new one. As soon as I walked into the store, a man quickly approached me and asked if I needed help. I barely got out the words "my iPhone cord randomly stopped working..." before he took it from my hand, checked to see if it was working by plugging into the computer, and grabbed another iPhone 5 cord. He unpackaged that cord and handed it to me, simply saying "here you go!". One of the fastest exchanges I've ever experienced! I definitely recommend this store. read more

I was sorry to see peach Mac go. It was my go to store. My computer was getting old and I went to check out a replacement. I thought I'd give simply Mac a try. Well it was terrible. The sales people didn't know which computers were in the store, or what came standard on the computers. I asked for one computer and was shown an entirely different type of computer. Although my Mac was 5 years old I knew way more about the macs than the salespeople. Thinking it just might be one bad sales person I went in a few times and every time it just kept getting worse. My MacBook suddenly would not work back in early January, 2010. I was pretty upset about it. My Florida neighbor, who fixes computers and who owns and loves Apple computers, could tell it was battery-related, but he thought there were bigger problems. He suggested I take it to the nearest Apple store which, in my case, is in Orlando, about an hour from my home. Most likely, the folks at any of the big Apple stores would have been helpful, too, but the guys at PeachMac? Just....wow! They were friendly and professional, plus my daughter and I didn't have to wait to be served. After months of fearing my beloved, nearly 3-yr-old Mac was dead, how great to learn the fix was at hand. I now have a new-acting computer with its brand-new battery, brand-new hard drive. And did I tell you (yes, I know i didn't yet) I have a brand new keyboard that replaced my cracked one? This place is for chumps. I came in here via an Apple appointment, and they were super busy and rushed (totally unlike my experiences in actual Apple stores). Since my computer wouldn't turn on they wanted me to immediately pay 69.99 for a diagnostic. My iPad wouldn't update to the latest software and he wouldn't even look at it - just wanted me to pay $20 for them to update it for me. So much for diagnostics and support. You're better off shopping at an actual Apple Store (the Mall of Georgia, where we have to go to exchange this) or online for Apple products. read more

My recent experience with Simply Mac was very poor. Aside from waiting an extra 30 minutes to talk to someone on top of the hour estimated wait, they completely misdiagnosed my computer problem. My mac had crashed, and my reason for taking it in was to check to see if the hard drive was ok and recoverable. They said it was perfectly fine, then tried to sell me all sorts of unnecessary products. This week, when I took it into the Geek Squad at Best Buy (in my experience, their customer service goes far beyond Simply Mac), I dropped it off, paid for the recovery service, and got a phone call a day later that the hard drive was, in fact, NOT fine. So two wasted trips and no solutions later, I'm not happy that Simply Mac tried to get me to pay them to recover my hard drive that was unrecoverable, on top of the pushiness and lack of courtesy from the staff. It is odd to me that a business would treat a customer like a nuisance form the moment they walk in the door. I will be driving to Atlanta to service my apple products from now on. read more
