Not consistent from either a food or customer service point of view. 50% of our catering orders are incorrect, missing something, show up late, etc. It's always something. And you can order the same items from event to event and the food and presentation are not consistent. And be careful! You may think your order is being delivered but it's not; their website is poorly designed and operates poorly!!!! read more

Ok...Let me put this as blunt as I can... I had a 20 minute conversation with Amy, talking ideas, menu, concept and exactly what I was looking for. About 30 minutes later, she emailed me a proposal with a menu and pricing. I thought it wasn't enough, she insisted it was. I forced her to add a little, so she did... All I can I can say is, it was a phenomenal event! The food (I tried everything), Incredible! The setup and presentation, Incredible! The helper/server that stayed, Incredible! I had a great experience with Simply Delicious. I called the Thursday before Mother's Day, as we decided to stay in because of the weather that was anticipated. This was my 1st time ordering from them, and from beginning to end it was seamless. Amy was beyond helpful, knowledgeable and an absolute pleasure to deal with. The food (brunch catering), was DELICIOUS. Quite literally the best bagel I have had in my life. To be forced into giving them one star pains me. They deserve nothing. My review is strictly based on their unbelievably bad customer service. I am planning catering for a corporate event. I need Breakfast, Lunch, drinks snacks for 40 people 2 days next week. I went on their website and filled out the form to be contacted by a representative. Quite shortly after that I did receive a phone call from Amy, and she said she was going to e-mail me with her details so I could send her exactly what I was interested in. I expressed my concern at the short notice and she said it wasn't a problem. I waited all day for an e-mail, but got nothing. At 3:15pm I rang back and after I said I hadn't gotten an email from her she said she didn't have my e-mail address. Umm, she had my number from the form I filled out, which also had my e-mail on it, and even so, she did have my phone number, so why didn't she ring back? I chose to let this slide and she emailed me her address and I swiftly sent her all the details of what we need. No response... Got in to work today - NO RESPONSE. Not even the courtesy of a reply that says "thank you - I will look this over and get back to you." I sent a snarky e-mail asking if she was ever intending to respond and this is the email I got back: "Good morning. That is quite unfair seeing it has been less than 24 hours. Have a good day." If this wasn't obnoxious enough, after this Amy called me to tell me off, and ask me if I still wanted a quote. Her excuse for nor responding was that they close at 4:00pm (I sent my e-mail to her at 3:20pm) What kind of an excuse it that? Who keeps strictly to "Business Hours" when you are in that kind of business? And I sent my mail at 3:20! It takes one second to send a reply letting me know she received my e-mail and would get back to me. (However if she was really good she would have gotten me a quote or a plan together straight away) But, heck - I would have been at least "ok" with any reply. She also added that to be upset with the service is crazy because people don't always respond to her right away and she doesn't get mad. Hello - I am a potential client! There's a huge difference. Ugh. For all I know, the food is great, but with service like that I will never know. I called them to find out rates for catering and the lady on the phone, I think her name was Amy, was very rude. Her tone screamed "I don't want to be bothered". She kept telling me she already emailed me a quote and had spoken to me already..... it was my first time calling them. I had no idea what she was talking about, I was so confused. I asked about prices for half tray and full tray and she reluctantly gave them to me, making me feel more and more uncomfortable. It was the worst experience I've EVER had in dealing with a catering business. She is the first person people talk to when looking for catering, and this is how she acts? I began using Simply Delicious Catering (SDC) about 2 years ago at a healthcare organization for breakfast, lunch and dinner events that I planned almost monthly from 2014-2016. I feel confident that I can give a balanced review of their food quality, service, and prices. Breakfast and beverages: 55-70 people 6:30am at least twice a month, sometimes more. Lunch, beverages and dessert: 15-30 people twice a month on average. Dinner (hot), appetizers (hot and cold), beverages and desserts: 100-200 people about 3-4 times a year. Pros: Experienced, professional, competitive prices, efficient, attention to detail, create great flavor combinations, beautiful presentation, and they love what they do. I always worked with Amy at SDC when requesting catering for a breakfast/lunch or an elaborate buffet dinner. She knows her job well, always has great ideas for menus and has never failed me. She was a hoot to work with every time. Sometimes I would throw up my hands and say, "I don't know anymore! What should we serve?!" Amy always came up with a delicious and beautifully presented menu that was on budget. There were times that I wanted champagne on a beer budget, and Amy always helped bring the menu under control with thoughtful substitutions so that our guests would be well fed and satisfied, our event a success and our budget happy. For events that required staff, Amy's entire team is amazing, but we got to know Lou very well over the two years that I planned events that required catering. He is the quickest server, most efficient, superbly professional and an absolute joy to work with. I NEVER once received a complaint or a "I wish they would have ..." from anyone about the food or service from Simply Delicious Catering. On the contrary, for every catered event there were 3-4 people who asked me for the contact information for the caterer. Although I don't plan catered events anymore, I still get asked for their contact number regularly and former colleagues still refer catering questions to me! Now for the food ... Well, it was just, DELICIOUS. For breakfast, my favorites are the flavored cream cheeses they make for the bagels and the yummy breakfast pastries. Juice and milk were always cold, coffee was always hot, and there were plenty of condiments and necessaries. For lunch, my favorites are the large salads (Baja, Caesar, and Mozzarella-Tomato) and the sandwiches and wraps. The sandwich and wrap flavor combinations are amazing - YUM-O! YUM-O! For dinner, their hot buffet was devoured every time. A few examples of menus we had for dinners were Mexican (fajitas, burritos, nachos), Italian (chicken francaise, sausage and peppers, pastas), Continental (roast beef, grilled chicken, traditional side vegetable dishes) and all manner of tasty appetizers like spinach dip in a bread bowl, cheeseburger sliders, fried chicken tenders, other little scrumptious bites and delectable morsels, as well as the usual suspects: platters of crudité, cheese and fruit that were artfully presented. For dessert, the tiramisu is the best - I'm not exaggerating. Also, we often needed vegetarian-kosher or strictly kosher meals for our events, SDC obliged and ordered packaged kosher meals for our events and made sure to keep them separate during transport and available on a separate table at our events. Our guests that keep kosher really appreciated that. As far as all the eaters and their taste buds were concerned, everything was prepared in house. If anything was frozen, we couldn't tell by either appearance or taste! The food is THAT GOOD! Simply Delicious Catering's food is the best quality and it's excellently prepared. Cons: I honestly can't think of any, and that is a first for me. Having worked in the food industry in a former life, I'm very exacting when it comes to food and service. In addition, having the responsibility for providing meals to professional guests on a limited budget means that I expect to be pleased with what is paid for and won't hesitate to shop a competitor. The selections from all the platters were delightful, especially the Guacamole & Plantain Chips - those went QUICK!
