My appointment started with a neck message which was a nice surprise and a quick consultation with Madeline. I showed her a few photos of what I wanted and explained to her what I didn't like about my current color. She asked a couple of questions and went straight to it. She offered hand massages while my hair was being washed and then back to her chair for the reveal.... My hair came out EXACTLY as I wanted. Phew! I was so relieved! In addition to the perfect color, my hair felt soft and healthy. I have already booked my next 2 appointments with her.... yes, she is that good! I forgot to mention that there was a sign out front welcoming me to the salon as a first time client and I was greeted immediately with a warm welcome when I walked in. Overall a really great experience. Thank you Madeline!

I NEVER spend money on my hair but decided to try it out. I have very fine and very thin hair and it can be hard to find someone who can cut it right. The very nice woman who cut my hair tried, but I didn't end up loving it, in fact I hate it, but she did a great job of giving it volume when I have very little. I actually quite liked the way the back turned out, just not the front. I chopped it all off into a pixie. I'm not mad. It's only hair and I usually end up not loving my hair cuts, which is why I don't tend to cut it often or spend money on it. I was just hoping that if I went somewhere like this I would love the results. Will I be back? Maybe, but it's not because of anything other than I hate spending money on my hair. The salon was very clean, they treat you very well, and they are super nice. If you don't mind spending money on getting your hair cut, I recommend it.

I've been to NOVA Salon three times now, and I see Alexis at the St. Matthew's location. The only…read morereason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because two of the three appointments I've had needed to be rescheduled due to the stylist being sick. While this is certainly no one's fault, it's a bit frustrating to hear from them the day before and/or of to be told you have to reschedule. They have attempted to get me scheduled with someone else or with my stylist as soon as possible, however. The salon is always clean, and I enjoy the environment. Alexis does exactly what I ask each haircut! She allowed me to pick out pictures my first visit since I was going with a drastic change. After just moving to Louisville, I needed to find a new hair salon. I wanted to get balayage blonde…read morehighlights. NOVA had decent reviews so I figured I would give them a shot. I called the office and there are two locations. I now know the location in St. Matt's is for the less experienced hair dressers. I was not told that on the phone and ended up picking the St. Matt's location because of better availability. The location of this salon is very nice and there is plenty of parking. It was easy to get to and I had to call upon arrival because they are only allowing a limited number of people inside the shop. I had to wear a mask during my treatment. My stylist also wore a mask. I was disappointed to see the station was unclean. They did not clean up between clients which I find unacceptable. I sat down with my stylist to talk about what I wanted and she understood.. She mixed my color and got to work. While highlighting my hair, she picked large chunks of my hair to highlight. Normally I would have had more foils in my hair. She didn't put me under the heater so I just sat for an incredibly long time to let the dye do it's work. After the initial wash and dry, I noticed that my money pieces were very uneven. At first, she didn't agree with me but after I clearly pointed out the area of concern she agreed that they were uneven. She mixed some more color and did a spot treatment on me. I could tell she wasn't pleased with me for requesting her to fix her mistake. After redoing one side of my money pieces, I sat for over 15 minutes. During this time my stylist was no where in sight and I knew I was processing for too long. When she came back, her hair and another stylists hair was braided so instead of paying attention to my treatment she was in the back swapping hair braiding with another worker. After the wash and re-dry, I could tell that my money pieces once again were uneven because she let me process for too long. Picture attached. I was very disappointed when I left but I already asked her to fix it once and she had messed it up so I paid, tipped, and left. The other thing I would like to note about NOVA is their sanitation. My stylist was dropping clips on the floor all the time and then putting them back in my hair. I also saw a different stylist drop an unused towel and then place it back on the counter folded so someone could use it.

I've moved out of state a lot over the years, but still patronize him occasionally (most often when my now-steady stylist is vacationing). He's a delightful professional. The fact that my mom has been a customer continuously for almost 25 years proves my point. The roster at the salon has grown and shrunk over time. Currently, there is one other full-time stylist and a part-timer. I've never tried to get a walk in appointment here (or seem any for that matter). But, I've never had an issue getting in when I wanted either. Most recently, I scheduled and then took my mom in for a cut following her stay in the hospital. Being out and about in public took effort for her, but Michael made her feel at ease immediately. A chat, a wash, and her hair cut in her signature style made her feel like a star. This isn't a high end salon with all the bells and whistles, but the people are genuinely kind, the place is tidy, and the service is excellent. They used to have a nail tech, but I haven't seen one recently. If you're looking for a cut and style near Buechel, you should give Michael a call.
