First time going, scheduled an appointment with Hope. You schedule online and pick your stylist or the time and they will assign based on availability. The parking is in the back, small lot, I pulled into the wrong lot at first but don't worry there are signs for all the businesses around claiming their parking. You will know if you're not in the right parking lot/spot. Overall great cut, friendly staff, and clean. The place was nice, comfortable and didn't give that pretentious, we charge $150 for a trim vibe. Always overwhelming to find a new stylist and place to go. This place is a good find if you need a salon/stylist. read more

Great atmosphere and skilled stylist. Larry delivered exceptional service to my hair in record time. Check them out.

This salon is the place to go, and Grace is the girl to see. She absolutely floored me with her creativity, attention to detail, and passion for what she does! I went in a fake redhead and walked out looking like a sherbet dream. I've never cried from a salon visit, but I walked out feeling so beautiful that I nearly did this time! Thank you so much, Grace... you've made me feel like a new girl! Before and after for ya! read more

I found my new place!! After returning to Louisville following a 5-year stint in California, I wasn't sure where to get my hair done. Then coronavirus hit, and nobody was getting their hair done, anyway. Well I have finally emerged and decided that my virgin hair which I hadn't colored since I started embracing the natural curls 1.5 years ago needed some color. I searched on Yelp for colorists and thought the work by Larry at Twisted looked gorgeous. So, I called and was able to get an appointment with Larry surprisingly quickly. I was also surprised that he was willing to take a color appointment as late as 4:30 on a weekday, but that made it easier for me to work it around work. My appointment went great. Everyone was so friendly, and Larry made me feel right at home. He listened carefully to understand my vision and explained the possible differences between my Crissy Tiegen-inspired vision and my hair's reality. He also explained why he would recommend certain products for my hair depending on how I was styling it, but was not pushy about it at all. In the end, I'm very happy with how my color turned out. I also loved the way Larry styled it. Plus, I thought the price was sooo reasonable. I will definitely be back to see Larry again! read more

Cara is amazinggg! She has such a great understanding of texture and the subtleties of a haircut that make it look incredible. She asked really good questions about the inspiration pictures I brought in and made sure we were on the same page before diving in. She also recommended products that she used to style my hair that were tailored to the way I'd normally do it (ie showering at night and going to sleep) but wasn't at all pushy about it. Prices here are totally fair for the quality of work (ask me how I previously learned that lesson the hard way). I had such a great experience and will without a doubt be going to see her for all future cuts! read more

Thank you Trina for my awesome Toni Mahfud inspired undercut! Twisted is beautiful salon, I always liked a nice environment when I'm getting a cut or color. Everyone is so kind and they know exactly what they are doing here. My cut and shampoo all together was $35 (plus tip). I'm making this salon my go to. read more

Y'all, I cannot even begin to tell you how amazing this place is. I got my hair PROFESSIONALLY done (first picture) and it brought me in tears. I called this salon, desperate, and Natalie saved me. I walked in almost in tears because of how bad my hair was. She taught me so much about my hair that no one has ever told me before! Just look at the before and after photo. If that doesn't scream talent then I don't know what does. read more

I had my first visit at Twisted and had an appointment with Melissa. She seriously transformed my hair! I wish I had a before picture to show the difference. I got a subtle bayalage, trim, and style. I have tried for so long to find a great stylist and I finally have! I clicked with Melissa immediately. She was so fun and personable and made the experience so fantastic! I would highly recommend her to anyone I know! read more

This salon is definitely really neat. All the people there are really friendly and the service is nice. I was willing to give this salon a chance since it has really good review. I would definitely recommend this salon to my friends who wants to try a new place if they live in the area. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't get the result I want it for the price I'm paying but the salon experience overall was excellent. My hair is difficult to work with so I can have a little understanding. read more

I don't get my hair done very often, in fact I'm a twice a year kinda gal... but when I do Kimberly Brumfield takes amazing care of me and my hair! Twisted has been around for a while and their salon is comfortable and quaint. I went for four stars, because I probably would not go to Twisted on my own. The location isn't ideal for me personally, but understand the St. Matthews appeal. And let's be honest, I'll continue going because my stylist brings me there and it's worth it! I always enjoy my time spent there, especially with Kim. I enjoy the products they use as well- my hair craves products! Lol Kimberly is patient and creative and will go above and beyond to make you feel beautiful and confident. She takes her time (and trust me, I have hair!).. but her patience pays off! Her balayage technique makes my hair look natural, yet bright and fun! If you're looking for someone fresh, fun and amazing call Kimberly at Twisted Salon today read more

I have been coming to Twisted for a few years now to have my hairs cut by Melissa Sowder. Melissa is beyond perfect. She makes you feel comfortable and really listens to what you want. She is willing to give you an honest opinion on what will work for your face shape and hair and what will not work. The atmosphere there is extremely comfortable. The music is always a good selection of classic pop and current radio. There are TV's displaying old fashion runways shows and the products used make my hair feel like silk. The salon is smaller than some, but I think it adds to the atmosphere and personality of the place. It is located right in the heart of St. Matthew's, so there is always good places to eat or grab a drink near by once you have your awesome near hair-do. read more

Liz is incredible. I have been looking for a stylist in Louisville since moving here two and half years ago. I found her! I came in for a cut, color (balayage blonde), and updo and left so happy with all three! I have tons of hair (naturally curly, super thick, and coarse), but Liz never made me feel bad about it! She spent time with me, making sure she understood exactly what I wanted. Before she started my updo, she gave me a blowout - my hair was so smooth; it looked better than if I had flat ironed it. She asked questions about the event I was getting the updo for, including what my dress looked like and the venue. She offered suggestions and looked at the photos I brought, and created something amazing. I received countless compliments throughout the evening. I'm so glad I called and booked the appointment with Liz!! read more

Brittney Griffith is the bomb, ya'll! I love that she really listened to everything I had to say and asked questions for clarity. I went from a caramel ombré to a chocolate brunette with very natural/subtle dimension...and I love it so much. She also gave me some layers and showed me how to realistically style my hair (because Lord knows I won't spend more than 5 mins on it haha). She's the best! read more

One of the biggest challenges of moving to a new state is finding a hairdresser. For over a decade I had the best relationship with my hairdresser and I was super nervous about finding someone new. I am so glad I called and booked an appointment and so very thankful that fate placed me in Kara's chair. From the moment I sat in her chair she took the time to evaluate my hair type and listen to my goals. We looked through some of the ideas I had saved in Pinterest and then she began her work. Each step Kara fully explained the products she was using to include how and why it was relevant to my hair. In between we chatted and she shared some of her knowledge of area dining and shopping- a huge gift for a newcomer. I am in absolute LOVE with my new haircut! I left the salon with some styling tips, products, a list of area places to visit, AND two more follow up appointments leading up to Derby! Such a relief to know I will be ready when my first Derby Week arrives! Thank you Kara! read more

I came in wanting to go significantly lighter with my highlights. Katelyn was friendly and attentive and I am very happy with my color and her work. However, they pushed back my appointment time by 30 minutes and then I had to wait for an additional 20 minutes once I arrived, which was disappointing. I will be returning and would recommend this salon to others. read more

Grace is the absolute best! I used to only go to the salon once a year for a hair cut because I didn't trust anyone with my hair (bad experience after bad experience!) until grace got a hold of my head. She is so flexible, easy to work with, and can always bring my hair dreams to life! Love her so much, I do not plan to go anywhere else! read more

Kara has been my hair stylist for about a year and a half. She's awesome; I love the way she cuts my hair, and I love having a stylist I can say "do whatever you think is best" to when I'm unsure what I want. I've been through bangs, obres, and baylayge and liked it all! She even fixed my hair when I over-confidently toned my own hair with mildly disasterous results. read more

Well, I was driving to Louisville to visit a friend for the first time. I needed my highlights done! Emergency! I yelped and liked what I saw about Twisted! Wish I could afford to fly up for the next time! Highly recommend read more

I had the pleasure of getting my haircut and highlighted by Larry. I have tried numerous salons around Louisville and Twisted takes the cake. Definitely recommend!!!! read more

I've never had much luck with Salons in Louisville but today I visited Twisted and had the pleasure of getting my hair cut and styled by Liz. The salon itself is super clean and cute inside. I have been there two or three times I've had loan out that list and Cara they both are amazing I love my hair when they blew it out and it last for a long time. I was leaving on vacation and it definitely lasted for for five days. They have the Products and will recommend you do what's best for your hair, I have not had my hair cut or colored by them that I've never had my hair colored but I'm thinking about having keratin by Cara but she definitely gives a wonderful blowout and style and so does Liz I will be back as often as possible I'd rather them do my hair than me. And lovely salon plays good music and everybody is so polite only thing I wish they offered something to drink read more

Looking for the best colorist in Louisville? It's Erika Ross at Twisted. I've been going to her for 16 years and she keeps me looking my best -- you wouldn't believe how many people stop me to ask who does my hair! She attends continuing education workshops regularly and is always on top of the latest cuts and color techniques. She's now doing Balayage highlights, the latest rage. Most importantly, she is the most genuine and lovely person. You'll love her! She's very popular, so call early to get on her books. read more

I have naturally curly hair that is hard to tame. Until Grace at Twisted cut my hair, I could never just wake up and comb it and go. Liz is amazing. I went in with a horrible short cut and came out with a stylish new look. Liz is not a "cookie cutter" stylist. She takes into consideration the shape of your head, shape of your face and the texture of your hair. And she LISTENS to what you have to say and will take the time to make it right. I have lived in Louisville for 9 years and have finally found a great stylist. Thank you Liz! read more

The staff here is nice, but I was most displeased with my haircut. I'm a guy who's had my hair long for over a decade. I requested that it be taken up to the tops of my shoulders and layered, and provided a picture as a reference. The stylist assured me that she understood what I was requesting. As she started cutting, though, she kept taking more and more off, going above the shoulders. I asked her about the height, and she said the hair would "fall naturally" when it dried. When the dust finally settled, she left me with my hair halfway covering my ears - a far cry from the picture shown and the explicit request that it go just above my shoulders. She left it "feathery", which looked spikey and unprofessional, so I went in a week later to see what could be done to "fix" it. She got rid of some of the spikiness, and the salon was fine with not charging me for the update. Ultimately, I'm tremendously disappointed that the stylist cut way beyond the requested length, was not cautious or conservative at all during the cut, and absolutely failed to cut "to picture". I understand that we don't come out of a salon looking like hair models, but a 4-inch difference between the picture and the end result is quite disappointing. read more

I moved to Louisville for school and needed a new salon. I decided to try out Twisted and I'm glad I did! Brittany Griffith cut and styled my hair and it couldn't have been more perfect! I moved to Louisville last July from the Chicago area. I had just found an amazing salon in Chicago that I was loving before I made the move and was nervous to find a stylist in Louisville. I am SO grateful that I went to Twisted and found Kara who is FANTASTIC. She not only gives me amazing haircuts, but she also does wonders with my hair color - two things that I had struggled to find even in the Chicago area. Kara takes the time to listen to what I want and has given me exactly what I was looking for every time I walked out of the salon. On top of that, she has taken the time to help me find the right products to repair my very damaged hair. While I am leaving Lousiville to go back to the Chicago area again, I will very much miss Kara as a stylist and would recommend her to anyone in the Louisville area! read more

Liz did all the hair for my daughter's wedding party and she did a phenomenal job. Everyone left thrilled with her work. She's enthusiastic, creative and just a lovely person. I recently moved to the area and after a year of searching I found the perfect salon and stylist! Ask for Liz!! She just moved to Louisville and is absolutely incredible. Great with consultation, cut and color... and it is a bonus that she has a great bubbly personality. Can't wait for my next appointment. read more

I recently tried this salon. I was assured that the stylist had 20 years of experience and was excellent. The front desk person went as far as to say she would completely trust this person with her hair. I brought multiple pictures, emphatically told the stylist that I needed to keep as much length as possible since I am growing it out during the consultation. I gave her permission to take NO more than one inch off my longest layer since I've been growing my hair out for well over a year. I told her emphatically that I just wanted a trim. She took at least 2-3 inches WITHOUT my permission which was close to half of my recent growth. This was not what I had agreed to at all. I had long hair that is now medium length soccer mom haircut. I paid $50 for a major cut when all I wanted as a trim and there's no way for it to be fixed short of extensions since she opted to do whatever she wanted to my hair. The space is OK, but far from amazing. It felt cramped and wasn't anything out of the ordinary. I wouldn't call a staff that doesn't listen to a client amazing either. I was so unhappy I was in tears in the car on the way home. read more

I originally came to twisted salon for a color correction with Liz, but soon became a regular. After I witnessed her work I knew I could not go to anyone else. She is by far the best hair dresser I have come across. She takes the time to ask and answer all questions which was a relief considering the bad experience I had with my last hair dresser. She never rushes while doing your hair and I love that you have the option of using olaplex when getting your hair colored. It saves your hair so much damage and I always leave with my hair feeling amazingly soft. They offer great products in their salon as well which has also saved my hair. This salon is beautiful and inviting. I always leave feeling flawless. Thanks Liz for making my hair look the best it has ever looked. read more

I'm SO confused on how this salon has gotten such a high rating and great reviews. Went in for a balayage and haircut. The haircut was horrible. Nothing that I asked for and one side was a chopped in one area and extremely uneven to the other side. I Wanted to have blonder pieces with some lowlights put in and came out with the exact same all one color dark blonde I went in with. None of my friends or family could tell I had my hair done. I called to ask if the stylist could throw a few bright blonde pieces in just to hold me over until the next time where I could get more blonde everywhere and I was told she didn't want to "compromise" my hair. My hair wouldn't have been compromised as there were no bleach pieces to be seen. I've had my hair bleached twice in the same day and never had any issues. The stylist then said she didn't have any availability for a few weeks. That wasn't going to work for me so I asked if someone else could throw some in and if I needed to I would pay a little and tip to have it done. I was told a partial highlight with this next stylist would cost $80. I said ok (even after just spending $120 not including tip) the next girl highlighted some pieces up to my roots (which we talked about and I did not want) and one side still had 3 inches of root growth. The blonde did not look like highlights it looked like I was super blonde all over except for one side of my head with the roots showing. All I was wanting was some brighter blonde pieces but still keeping some dimension with the dark lowlights. Only the very top of my head was highlighted and I was charged for a partial! When I went to check out I was charged another $120 (not $80 like I was told) not including tip. I ended up spending around $300 in one week to have my hair looking like fantastic sams did it. I saw two stylists and neither gave me what I wanted. Very upsetting. Very expensive place considering the work they do, and not fixing their work for free or a fraction of what I paid. read more
