We liked the outdoor seating so I thought it would be a great spot for a morning breakfast. The serving staff was very friendly and kind. Overall a nice spot but the value for what you get wasn't great.

We walked to both places so driving and parking was not a problem. Interestingly there were a lot of classic vehicles going by. You can order beer, cocktails, soup, sandwiches and even coffee. We sat outside at the deck. It was really nice to sit and watch the people, cars and motorcycles pass by. The sandwiches ar interesting and not oversized or over priced. There is secure WiFi although it seemed to have difficulty reaching the deck. If you walked to Signal Hill you should stop at the Battery Cafe because you'll walk right past it and you deserve it. The Newfoundland sundae with jam and ice cream is worth ordering on a warm day.

I ordered a small Pasta Salad for a quick snack and a banana hot chocolate, which I'd never even heard of before. The pasta salad was delicious and just what I needed - the balsamic glaze and pear paired beautifully with the tomatoes and penne. The banana hot chocolate, though, was so much more memorable for me - I downed that so fast! It's such an odd flavor, but it really works. (Even though it's not that odd when you think about it. It's like a hot version of chocolate-covered frozen bananas.) Definitely worth a try!

The turkey sandwich bun was not at all soggy. We enjoyed our drinks and sitting and watching the people go by. The staff were friendly and helpful. You wait for drinks at the counter but they bring food orders to your table. That's a great way to to it as it doesn't take nearly as long to make drinks as it does food. After arriving, I ventured off the ship on my own and made my way to Water Street for a little shopping. While exploring the area, I came across this charming coffee shop. Esther and Jomana were working behind the counter today, and both were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and warm. I ordered a hot mocha latte, a Portuguese tart, and a Nutella strawberry brioche, all of which were homemade. Everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared. The mocha latte was rich and comforting, while the pastries were the perfect sweet treats to enjoy during an afternoon of exploring the city. I thoroughly enjoyed everything I ordered and was very happy with my choices. Combined with the excellent service from Esther and Jomana, it made for a wonderful stop during my afternoon in St. John's. I would gladly return the next time I am in town and highly recommend this coffee shop to anyone looking for delicious homemade pastries, excellent coffee, and genuine Newfoundland hospitality.

This dining experience was certainly a great start to our St. John's visit.
