They asked all the right questions. They had plenty of examples for all the finished material and they really listened to my needs. I had a tile floor which was hideous and the whole kitchen was very outdated and kind of depressing. They helped me to think of a new layout that would complement the space and would fit my needs. The new floor that I got was for the whole house and it looks amazing. The paint was done quickly with no major mess around the house. Totally could've been handled better by the team--we hired them as the "experts," after all. NOT FAST! NOT CHEAP! NOT GOOD! A TRIPLE THREAT. What a disaster. Nearly 2 years after demolishing the entire kitchen and most of both bathrooms, . Paying rent somewhere else for weeks to leave the house available as requested but no worker shows up, Having to beg to get objectively unusable construction corrected and fending off the most inane excuses why I have to accept shoddy work, and forego minimal basic function because of made up "building codes", I finally refused to pay the final two installments until they finish the job, plug up the destructive leaks, make the installed appliances function as promised and install the finishing drywall and paint etc. . Instead they abandoned the job half finished , and put a lien on my house for the full amount . Lawsuit is imminent. You have been warned. read more

We had a great experience with Simple Choice. From the start, Peter was very easy to work with. He came to give a consultation and provided us with the best options based on how we wanted the projects to go. The first project was to redo the front yard, removing all the existing bushes and adding 4 new citrus trees and 2 beautiful olive trees. Simple Choice proposed deigns and sourced gorgeous plants and trees that have held up very well over the past 2 very wet winters. We were very impressed with the first project so we contacted Peter to replace all the flooring in our house, including the staircase, and a full interior paint job. We also contracted them to build a screened-in porch for us. The flooring process was shockingly easy for us. Peter found us a great flooring option at a price lower than we could find it ourselves. The team did a great job with attention to detail and quicker than we could have imagined (3 weeks overall for the floors, paint, and staircase to be fully complete, but mostly done within 2 weeks despite bad weather). The screened-in porch is everything we wanted and more. Peter made the great suggestion to add a rolling screen panel that can open the porch to the outside when we want to make a transitional space between the porch and the yard. He listened to what I wanted in all the projects and was very respectful. Anything we had issues with (minor things here and there) would be addressed and fixed immediately. We were forced to do a kitchen remodel because of a slab leak of a kitchen water pipe. So when getting estimates from various general contractors, the plumbing costs for a hot water cancel and a new hot water line were not included, but Simple Choice provided one-stop general contracting, for not only the hot water line cancel, new hot water line, but doing another cancel and new line for the main that also ran through the kitchen, to mitigate tearing the remodel down in case the main leaked. So now the kitchen remodel should be good despite any future slab leaks elsewhere. Simple Choice even did more than slab leak repair and repipe. They also removed an original home builder install of a custom sized sliding patio door that was so tall it was difficult to find parts. They replaced it was standard-sized patio doors and they replaced my faulty main garage door opener. Indeed, one-stop service, especially considering I got separate quotes from plumbers to do the pipe cancels, repipe, and drywall and stucco repair and those quotes were very comparable to the additional costs from Simple Choice. Yes, they also did what you expect for a kitchen remodel! New cabinets to the ceiling, quartz countertops, extending countertops, patch and paint, and even some new tile underneath the island. There is great value here!! The only thing is that you should be comfortable with costs that change from the initial estimate as Simple Choice does work fast, but is honest and fair in keeping costs competitive. The pictures of the "FULL BACK YARD REMODELING" with the black and white theme is my yard! Hopefully they will remove these photos asap, since I told them not to post any pictures of my backyard. Plus, we (my husband and I) ended up pulling out most of their work. We were extremely unhappy with the quality and we didn't feel safe in our own backyard. We hired them to do our backyard renovation April-Oct 2022. First of all, we learned that we couldn't believe a word anyone from Simple Choice or their subcontractors said. It was so bad that for the last few weeks of the contract, I would only feel comfortable communicating to them in writing. Also, during the remodeling, the project manager asked me for the deed to my house and for two blank checks written to the City of LA. It gets worse. I believe they had unlicensed people working on my gas and electricity. During the project, there were three gas leaks on the pipes they touched or added. We found electrical work not to code, that I believe was done after the electrical inspection. (See notes below for details and pictures.) The pavers they installed, well we felt like we were hiking on uneven ground. Some of the pavers I saw were graded to drain into my pool/spa, had what looked like cement stains to me, were laid slightly misaligned with or without uneven cuts, and had pools of sand at the corners. Also, the paver drains were installed at different depths. The pool pebble plaster, how they installed it, didn't match the glass/stone density per square inch that I selected. The picture they posted of my pool was not taken in full sun. In full sun, it looks a little greenish (not the looking I was going for). The new pool autofill's water overflow feature was not connected to anything. They tiled over my pool's existing overflow opening, buried under dirt and pavers some working backyard drains without capping shut or "duct taping off" the openings (yes there was duct tape), paved over one of my house's clean-out drains, and installed pool coping that could be removed by hand. When we looked at the finishings, we saw amateurish and sloppy work. For example, they stucco'ed my sprinkler controller timer into the wall, built a circular fire pit that was still irregularly shaped (they tried to fix it) with a small drainage hole (no vent) for rain water to ooze out, stucco'ed a wall somewhat flat (some areas were slightly concave), left goop on my new fence post, etc. For almost six months we felt like we lived in a pigsty. Notes- Electrical The electrician's review found, 1. A "double tapped" breaker where they connected the pool's electrical box to my house's main electrical box with the wrong lower gauge wire. There was space for a new breaker. The electrician said this can be hazardous, 2. Destroyed waterproofing in wet rated electrical outlet boxes by drilling holes in them (per the electrician this is illegal). No permanent waterproofing was discovered around the drilled holes, 3. An electrical outlet (we didn't ask for) was still too close to the bottom of a built-in BBQ, even after they moved it down per my request, 4. An outlet box with a hole in the back (this destroys the box's fire containment purpose) 5. Unglued underground electrical conduit to the pergola they built and wired for us. Water had already seeped into one of the conduits. Pavers When we removed the pavers they installed, we saw 1. The paver's crushed stone base layer was only 1/2" deep in many places. My new paver installation and the one done at my previous house both had 4" stone base layer. 2. There was no reinforcement on the free-standing paver edges, and 3. They used lots and lots of non-bedding sand for the bedding sand layer. We sprayed down some of their pavers to check how the water drains and the paver sand pooled up from between and maybe also beneath the pavers. We saw lots of sand easily washed away. Firepit We removed the firepit they built and found a rusted pipe connector in its center. We didn't trust anything connected to a gas line they laid from scratch. Other 1. At the beginning of my project, I had a sink in my outside kitchen with piped water, at the end no piped water. 2. When they added power to a stand-a-lone pergola they installed, my sprinkler controller lost power 3. They installed the pool coping twice and it was still not flushed when looking at it from standing in the pool. 4. They did things like seal the access to the outside kitchen sink's plumbing, only to open it up again. 5. They ripped out my sprinkler's low voltage wiring at the beginning of the project and it took several months during the hot summer for them to almost fix it to the project starting point. 6. Their workers would routinely toss their lunch trash all over our property. 7. Construction debris was not quickly removed and was left for months. etc. Our property felt like a pig's sty for almost 6 months. read more

I had a few quotes with different prices and simple choice wasn't the cheapest BUT it was the most detailed one so I knew exactly what I'm getting without any surprises so it ended up having a lot more than the other quotes.
