My personal tips: spring for the custom length paddle unless you truly need the adjustability. Always get a cover for transporting your board, and, if possible, one for your paddle. You'll need them. There are activities galore at the destination. We have chose 2 hour climbing park. I have called at first with few questions all of which were answered. My suggestions before going would as follows: - to fill out waiver beforehand (it expedites the entry process). - to bring your own gloves (garden, batting or even weightlifting kind would all be appropriate), otherwise you purchase at the check in desk. - wear appropriate shoes, gripped even better (we are visiting from Florida and I only had fashion tennis shoes which I do not recommend). - bring your own water bottle (it can be safely set anywhere around the park). There are drinks for purchase though such as water, Poppi, Gatorade and Celsius to name a few. - there are 9 courses total, 3 of which are for 5 years old and over. Due to time constraints if you want a challenge, start with the hardest. My son and I finished 4 and we did the opposite. By the end I was taking numerous breaks and was wiped out. I felt as if I'm missing out on the hard courses. - consider wearing pants/shorts with zippers. I wore bikers shorts with side pockets and had my phone and keys in them. At the very first course, I noticed my keys were gone. The staff were incredibly helpful. They found them before I came down from the course and safely stored them for me. I compliment the staff and appreciate their attentiveness! I will be returning with all of my kids (ages 14, 11, 5 and 3) next summer when we visit Michigan!

Boats and jet skis cost $10, effective August 2020 kayaks are now $5. Pedestrians or bikers without a boat are free. There is one porta potty in the parking lot. This is considered a US international border so the gate locks at 10 PM and there is a penalty if you are not out in time. Dogs are allowed in the fishing park and boat launch. Poop bags if you're lucky. There is a gate attendant to take your money and enforce rules. You are not Allowed to swim or wade here, nor would you want to because it is filthy. One mile south is the Edsel and Eleanor Ford house, bird island, and the grosse pointe woods park. This is the southernmost public boat launch until Detroit. It's kind of hard to find, drive east on 9 mile until you can't anymore. Drive between fishbones restaurant and the Mobil And keep going. If you feel like you are about to blow a tire from all the potholes, you are on the right track. I do not recommend kayaking in this area if there is northern wind above 5 miles an hour or southern wind above 10 mph. I also recommend getting off the water by 11 AM when the jet skis get out.

Selfridge public boating access is it great Public Access boat launch and fishing spot run by the…read moreMichigan Department of Natural Resources they have recently remodeled the entire area putting nice fence lines along the lake as well as updating the guard shack and making the boat launches much more accessible they have plenty of parking on site once you launch your boat and because it is completely fenced you can feel safe and secure leaving your vehicle here while you spend a wonderful day on Lake Saint Clair. It is also a wonderful spot to come and just enjoy the beautiful view of the lake and all the surrounding areas. You can see Anchor Bay you can see Mac and Rays you can see all the way over to Harsens Island on a clear day. In the wintertime the ice fisherman love the spots on the bay because they can catch a multitude of fish from perch to walleye I've even heard it said a muskie or two have been caught right in these Waters. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has put a lot of time energy and money into this spot it's a shame more people don't come out and truly enjoy the peace of mind you get just by looking out into the vast view of Anchor Bay. If you're ever in the area make sure you stop by I think you'll enjoy it.

There's a Porta John in the winter months to accommodate ice fishermen. I like this launch better than the one at the end of S. River Rd, which seems to be more seaweed that flows down from the Clinton River. This site is included in the recreation pass that can be purchased when renewing your license plate for a very reasonable fee. I launch a 26 foot boat with plenty of room in length and draft.

We started with the starter course that includes all equipment, belaying lesson, some practice after and another full day of access within 30 days. Our instructor was very good, he made learning the basics so easy by adding fun names to some elements of the belaying and that made it so much easier. After the course (a little more than 1h) we stayed for another 4h to explore the walls, the auto-belay machines and practice what we've learned. The entire staff was very friendly and welcoming.
