There are sometimes six horses in one indoor ring at a time with three different instructors. It's a mess. As a returning rider, I had a lot I needed to learn again and lots of muscle tone to build. I was up for the challenge. However, they had me riding either lame or behaviorally problematic horses. It was very frustrating. When I asked them about riding a different horse that I could learn more on--just while I got my muscles and skills back--they were unsympathetic. I recognize that school horses are not known for being amazing, but that's not what was going on here. There were easy horses--I just wasn't riding them on a consistent basis. I put off writing this review because I wasn't fully convinced that they were the problem--I thought maybe my expectations were off. Unfortunately for them, I have gone on to have an INCREDIBLE experience at a different barn. I feel like I can unequivocally say now that this is not where you should spend your money. In fact, in my experience, they will treat you like they don't want your money anyway. Sorry about the bad review. I hope you will treat the next people better.

There was no personal space between myself and the two individuals next to me. The space for the dance floor was really small and I feel like it could barely fit half of the guests. The dinner itself was not great. The salad with a sweet vinaigrette and apples was lovely, but the salmon was way too overcooked and the potatoes were hard and flavorless. Definitely could use more gravy. The steak was cooked medium rare and the best part of dinner (but I heard differently from individuals of other tables). However, I enjoyed the bacon wrapped in cheese (?) bites during the cocktail hour along with the coconut shrimp and shrimp cocktail (the tall shot glasses that the shrimp came in was so thin that it was hard to dip the shrimp in the small amount of cocktail per serving). The cocktail hour food was the best and the late night fries were pretty solid, too. There is a lot of space for people to walk around and mingle outside of the room we were in for dinner. Overall, Oakhurst was alright. I'd recommend looking elsewhere if you're looking for a place to host your wedding if you have options.

It was a shotgun start, 4 person team event. We started on hole 16 and when we got to hole 8, he told my team that we needed to pick up the pace and that we were 2 holes behind pace. This was absolutely not true as we could always see the group ahead of us. We got to hole 9 and he turned the sprinklers on at the tee box and told us we had to skip the hole. He accompanied us to the hole 10 tee box, where we passed the group ahead of us because they were still finishing 9. As soon as he left us he went back and turned the sprinklers off. So, now we had to wait. It completely ruined the experience for us to the point that we could not enjoy the remainder of the day. I thought he targeted us, but when I spoke to staff members, they said he ruins everyone's time here. They said that he ruins their tips because he upsets so many people. I have no idea why someone like this would be permitted to work in the hospitality field. This was over a $600 round for my team and we feel completely robbed of the experience. Such a beautiful track and the greens rolled so good, but once someone upsets us that much, its hard to relax and focus back on the game. Especially when he kept poking around. I reported the interaction and the pro shop manager said to ga back and play 9, but we were so over it by then. I have reached through the website to see if they will make it up to us. The salads and appetizers, which included deviled eggs, caprese, and watermelon and feta, were incredible! We loved the coffee and mimosa as well as juice service. The decorations and florals were arranged well by them, Charvat provided the florals. Sequoia was also kind enough to go above and beyond by moving a high top table outside for our guests to enjoy the weather there too.

It's a great venue, beautiful, classical, simple, yet refined and so full of rich woods and old GP history. It's been around since 1897. This course has a deep history with my family. One of my brothers worked as a caddy. My dad has golfed here many times over the years as well. The course is quite nice, during all seasons. This is the course where Arnold Palmer had his famous victorious win and launched his career back in 1954. He had played the senior amateur championship many times before passing away. My family and I watched him play during one of the events years back. The course is beautifully kept, pristinely in fact.
