After my visit, I saw my paperwork and they put a wrong last name, I told them my last name is wrong. they put my last name wrong because they hear it wrong when I called them for an appointment. They took a copy of my ID and insurance card too. But they don't even look at them, ( they blamed me, lol) The doctor only concern is only your insurance. I went there for a preventive care and it should be free based on my insurance. But they sent a bill later. They don't follow up on the blood test or anything else. Dr. Simpkins has been the BEST G.P./Family Door I've EVER known!!! She's always been very easy to get an appointment to see when it's important, especially. + Especially easy to talk to about whatever concern I've had for EVERY part of my health. While she's not on my current insurance plan I STILL prefer to pay Out-of-Pocket because of her ability to see the Whole person I am. I have tried 5 different drs since moving here from East coast 6 years ago. Most have been lazy and not caring at all. I found Dr Simpkins and discovered she was educated and trained in NY and Boston. She probably was a good Dr in her prime but she is obviously tired and not interested. She walks in. Asks "what can I do for you?" and that's it. Then she says a specialist is needed and tells nurse to prepare a referral. 2 times out of 3 they forget the referral or forget to add notes so referral denied. Office ladies are pleasant but take everything personal so you have to tiptoe. Guess on to next doctor. read more

POOR QUALITY CARE AND PROFESSIONAL NEGLIGENCE! It's now been 24 days since my first visit with Dr. Simpkins. After my lab results showed unusually high levels of Triglycerides and low HDL, I never heard any advisory from her office. When I emailed them, the nurse replied, "sorry we made a mistake in not contacting you and we will soon." They still have not!! Oh wait, I still do not have any news about the few specialist appointments the nurse was supposed to make for me. When I call, their usual answer is "we are working on them. Thank you for your patience!" Meanwhile, a couple of my symptoms could prove to be life-threatening due to poor quality care of this doctor and her incompetent staff. read more

Unfortunately,, I did not have a good experience with this doctor. I went to her because I was having Lyme disease symptoms (including the rash) and a friend who was on the same hike was positively diagnosed with the disease. Dr Simpkins ordered a number of blood tests but did not order the one for Lyme disease. She said she didn't have Lyme but I might have leukemia. Really?!? I had no symptoms of leukemia. Nothing like stressing out a patient unnecessarily! Surprise, surprise all of the blood tests were normal. Of course the one test I needed she arrogantly decided wasn't necessary. Well, Lyme disease cannot be detected with any the tests she ordered. She initially declined to order the antibiotics but later relented to a one week course. It takes 2-3 weeks of antibiotics to cure the disease. When I called back to request a refill and explained I was feeling better, she declined the refill indicating she NOW want the Lyme disease test, which was moot because I'd been on antibiotics for a week. The test would be negative. She said if I wasn't happy I go elsewhere, knowing any tests would be negative after the antibiotics. So now I may have to get sick again before I can be tested and given the correct treatment. This Dr is condescending, arrogant and more concerned with being "right" than she is with her patient's welfare. Go to another doctor! read more

Dr. Simpkins has been my Dr. for many years, and literally saved my life in 2007. She takes time with each patient. The office is always quiet and mellow. I never have to wait more than a few minutes to get called back into the office and the waiting room is NEVER filled with people. She takes a "whole life" approach to helping you to heal, and is never too busy or arrogant to discuss with you. I recommend her wholeheartedly! I have only been to this office, one time. It will be the only time I go to this office. My overall experience was horrible. At first, I felt the office had a good vibe. When the assistant came to get me, all I heard was "you ready"? I was the only patient in the waiting room, but my back was to the door to the back office. ; So, I wasn't called in by name. I work in an office where we call patients, and I would never address someone by basically saying "hey you, you ready". First impressions are everything. The assistant after that moment did seem ok. When I went into the room, it was standard questions. Then the doctor came in. In my opinion, not very warm and interested in me at all. She asked me what brought me to her office. I explained I wanted a doctor closer to my home and my knee had been really hurting along with my thumb. Not ONCE did she ask me anything about either. she went right into my results from my blood work and hadn't even looked at them prior to my visit. She was leaning toward prescribing medication without having the whole story. I asked for a few referrals, which all my past doctor had given me, and she seemed irritated by that. When I asked for authorization for an MRI for my knee, she very dismissively chuckled and said that the insurance company wouldn't authorize that. When I got to the front desk the person at the desk made a comment to me, "wow, you sure asked for a lot of referrals!". Last time I checked, specialists are there for patients to see. I didn't appreciate that. So, basically that appointment was for nothing essentially. I had no choice but to go through the process to get a new doctor. I walked out of the office frustrated and knowing I would never go back. I had called the office and emailed the office, to ask why I still had not received one of the referrals.....still waiting for a return call. Most times, when calling it goes to voice mail. So, last week, I received a bill in the mail. On that bill, were procedures that were never done. But, of course, I was being charged for that. There were 2 charges for an office visit. After literally 2 hours of talking to my insurance company, the billing office for Dr Simpkins, and Dr Simpkins office directly, I found that when a doctor sees a patient and during that appointment decides that it is above and beyond a wellness visit, there is another code where they can charge you more. So, it would have been a charge of 175.00, but then it became 2 charges of 175.00 and 275.00 and when I tried to ascertain what changed my appointment it was based on the discretion of the doctor and something she provided to me....her expertise, I guess. She absolutely did nothing and wasn't interested in me at all. I am challenging the charges, and I will be seeking legal action. It is never ok for any patient to be taken advantage of. I would not recommend this office to anyone. read more

Horrible experience. There is absolutely no follow up. Have been asking to refer to specialist for something for a while, but there is no movement at all. First time she mentioned that she will ask for approval (I am on HMO plan), but then totally forgot. I requested her again and still to hear back. I have had an amazing experience with Dr. Simpkins. She did the most thorough work up of any doctor I have seen so far, and has been the only one able to diagnose my long term issues. She is professional and caring. She referred me to the amazing nutritionist that also works in the office and I could not be more pleased with the result. At LB S. I had the same experience and when i refused to pay the additional charges she dismissed me as her patient after 10+ years and sent my bill to collections. Dr Simpkins and her staff are great. I'm usually able to get a same day appointment if I'm having an acute situation like needing antibiotics. Recently, I ended up in the ER with a kidney infection and Lynn (Dr Simpkin's assistant) kept calling my cell phone to check up on me. She told me I was "part of the family" and that she and the doctor were concerned about my health. She also got my records from the hospital because Dr Simpkins wanted to look at the ER doctor's reports. The doctor is thorough and very nice. I feel very taken care of at this office. read more

Dr. Simpkins has a warm and caring bedside manner. She listens and does her best to give great care. She doesn't push meds or unnessary tests. She is great with alternative care such as acupuncture. She is also educated in supplements, minerals, etc as opposed to prescriptions. The wait times have never been long and appointments are easy to schedule. Odd tension in the office from when you first walk in. I was there hoping for blood tests to get to the bottom of some symptoms I had been struggling with for several months. This was my first appointment there. As I was explaining my symptoms to Dr. Simpkins, she asked, "how do you work?" And I explained that I had been on temporary disability insurance since having the symptoms. She then said, "So your doctor just *signs* off on the disability papers?" When I said, "Well, yes, I can't work, because as I explained..." she scoffed. It's temporary disability that you pay into while you're working, and only take if you really need it. I wasn't there trying to get her to "sign off" on anything- I was hoping she would test me for various things to figure out my illness- so I could get treatment! She acted like I was trying to score drugs from her or something. Now I'm getting bill after bill for things my insurance apparently doesn't cover at her office- all for a simple blood test which was done in her office. read more

While I ignored the negative reviews I had read, wanting to give Dr. Simpkins the benefit of the doubt, I could be not be more disappointed in my brief experience with her (I switched as soon as possible). Not only is her office staff nearly impossible to work with (in terms of execution of basic tasks) and rude (one member in particular), Dr. Simpkins proved herself to be shamelessly disinterested and entirely non-responsive (i.e. blatent refusal to respond to phone or email messages, despite requesting to hear from me via these modes of communication after conducting my physical exam). It became obvious (confirmed by her staff, when I placed my final phone call requesting my records) that Dr. Simpkins "typically does not talk to patients on the phone" nor return emails - i.e. she will only communicate via a PAID office visit. Clearly the Hippocratic Oath means nothing to this physician, despite her 'warm and fuzzy' office demeanor. read more
