So when I have a chance I've been driving out east to tour what's in the book. This is the oldest operating family run hardware store on LI. My dad and I met Charlie who was one of the employees featured in the book and he let us take a picture with him for instagram. I bought a Stanley. I was trying so hard not to get one but I finally caved. They had 30 oz ones for $40. I don't know if that was a good price or not but I got a nice green one. I wanted to support the store and wasn't sure what else to get I looked around to see if I could get a Christmas gift for someone on my list but didn't really find anything. This is a nice store to visit worth checking out for the historical factor!

I kindly said no thank you & want to establish that I'm not generalizing all employees that work here. But the one man who was at the register was beyond rude. I came in looking for a replacement toilet flapper & was confident that I had picked the right one. The employee proceeded to tell me numerous times that I probably did not get the correct one & that he should take a look at a picture of it with his "trained eye"... of toilet flappers. After I told him numerous times that I know that I got the right one for me, he goes on to tell me that he's sure he'll see me back in here because again, he's sure I didn't get the right one. I work for a local business that often shops at this hardware store as well as multiple others on the East End because I prefer supporting the local businesses instead of Amazon & other online companies etc. I am so disappointed & for the record, I got the right one and most certainly will not be coming back.

Village Hardware has been here for ages. They have a decent selection of everything, from grills to…read morebeach chairs to regular household items like plungers. The staff is very friendly. Often, as soon as you walk in, they ask if they can help you find something. They even track down items and bring them to you! Parking on the street can be a challenge, but there is a public lot (time limited, keep an eye on it or you will get a ticket) directly behind the store. Prices are higher than you would pay at Home Depot, but the closest Home Depot is a longggg way away :)

The salesperson was a nowhere near the key copying machine for 20 minutes, when I asked a cashier how long they paged this guy. When he came around after another few minutes he raised his voice at me and said "I told you it would be a minute!" I said it's been 25 minutes! At which time he began ridiculing me in front of my son and other customers. Finally, he shouted "next time you need keys made go to the Home Depot!!!" And he kept shouting. I stopped by to pick up air filters for my air conditioner, met an associate who read the specs and handed me two filters per my request. I returned home with the two filters that was indeed the wrong size. I went back to the store to exchange the size and they told me they don't do any exchanges or refunds. I'm not sure how the heck this hardware store thinks they can stay in business. The cashier basically said your purchased it you own it. I left the unopened filter and I recommend skipping this boneheads. East Hampton Hardware or Riverhead building are the better choice.

Amazing customer service! We bought a three piece teak outdoor furniture set from Thayers more than…read morefive years ago. We noticed two braces underneath the couch were cracked even though no one over 200 lbs. sat in it. We called Thayers and Roger and Owen surprised us by picking it up, repairing it better than new and delivering it in time for our company to arrive.
