Simon Med is a medical imaging behemoth. The one I write of, West corner Thomas Road/3rd St is 1/10 mile from the other Simon Med facility 1/10 mile south - an easy transport move if you go to the wrong location, n like we did. I have been here at least twice over many years. The imaging was done, the product was in focus, evaluation done, the doctor gave me my results. I played my part, they played theirs. The bills got paid, I am seen, not viewed. That's five stars from an Imaging House to me. read more

The only good part of my experience at SimonMed was the technician, Adam, who was great. Other than that, this place is a disaster and I don't think anyone should go there. Instead, try the competitor, Southwest Medical Imaging. The two couldn't be more different. Before you go to SimonMed, you have to fill out many forms online and I do understand that. But it's still quite a hassle. The odd part is that when you arrive at the facility, you have to enter the same information. The worst part is SimonMed sends you an email and instructs you to click on this link to let them know you have arrived at the facility. There are no people there. No one greets you. You click the link in the email and a message comes back requiring that you enter the same information about insurance that you have already entered at home. It's a total duplication of your effort. When you get that done, the message comes back that you can now approach a payment station where you are asked again to show your ability to pay. You will not feel welcome or secure; you will feel like you deserve a paycheck for all the work that you are doing. I did see a half dozen people working but they were all at computers and none were interacting with patients. I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy. In contrast, when I got to SMIL, they smile, they welcome me, they come out to the waiting room to get my information and tell me how long the wait will be - it's never more than 10 minutes. I feel welcome and cared for. My guess is the SimonMed is trying reduce labor costs and I bet they are succeeding because you, the patient, are doing all the labor. What an awful place. UPDATE: To continue on how terrible SimonMed is, I just received an email requesting that I pay the bill. Fine, but the email didn't include the bill! So I went to the website and found no possible way to see my bill. I'm supposed to pay it without seeing it? This place is Kafaesque. Again, stay away! If you're going in for a walk-in x-ray, please beware that locations may turn you away. I went to five different locations today and all of them turned me down. All excuses were different and even calling their operations. Number told me that they were all open and doing x-rays just to find out when I get to the location they are not doing x-rays today or even all week. read more

The condensed version of my online experience: The live agent wanted to schedule my exams in another city, then on separate days. No availability for abdominal ultrasound with transvaginal ultrasound done back to back After much persuasion, tearing of hair and gnashing of teeth, a date and location were agreed upon. Then came my favorite part: I asked for an appointment after noon. I am told no. No. They don't perform these after noon. Why? Because these are fasting exams (they absolutely are not). I asked what this has to do with anything. (Who is doing the fasting? Presumably not the tech, too weak from hunger to lift the probe... ) I was not given a rational response. I said thanks and I will go elsewhere. I was told that I should do so. Absurd. I recommend going somewhere else. An hour I won't get back.. read more

Fantastic experience despite apprehension of being in a loud tube (aka MRI). The radiologist team delivered a first-class exam without repercussion. Gladly recommend SimonMed-Thomas to anyone requiring radiological services. Thanks so much for not laughing at my dachshund stuffed animal that accompanied me during my scan. I was a little nervous for my pelvic ultrasound appointment after reading the reviews, but I'm happy to say that I had a great experience at this location. Check in was straight forward, I came in 30 minutes early, and I made sure to fill paperwork out online before my appointment. I was called in on time. My technician Jacqueline (I hope I have her name correct) was super friendly and made the whole process really comfortable. She had a great attitude and I can't thank her enough for making my experience great today. read more

Scheduling a mommogram with this craphole company has been a nightmare. First off, I scheduled the visit for a specific location. Aside from the overwhelming texts/emails/calls I received, their systems clearly do not talk to each other. I called the day of my appt. to verify the location. Only to be told it was some other location not even close to me. I cancelled and then found an email verifying that I was scheduled for the correct location, but have a feeling that had I shown up at Thomas, I would have been turned away. For a company that is raking in a lot of money, you sure are incompetent. learn how to run a business or do us all a favor and go work at McDonald's. read more

I know, it's Sunday and I'm writing a short review of my visit here last Wednesday. My doctor had me come here for a CT scan and a chest X-ray. All in all this visit went well and I wasn't here as long as other times, except for the in between time of the CT scan and my chest X-ray. Evidently I was forgotten for a few minutes until the X-ray technician asked me my name and told me she was looking for me. Not to worry I wasn't going anywhere. I will give them three stars only because I was processed much quicker than other times but I do prefer this facility as I have been to their other facilities where they are packed. Well it happened again. Schedule across town, again. Rush hour. Wake up early, be sure to fast and don't drink water. Show up exactly 30 minutes prior, and.....Canceled. 4th time with yall. Let's see ,I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. I have had around 15 or 20 procedures with you. Recently, your company is failing the patients. FAILING. Can you at least call to cancel. Again, fasting, early commute with rush hour ,good faith arrives on time ,and Canceled. Aaaaaagh !! I will call my Cancer team again cause you guys are not helping. What happens if we the patient's cancel? I really am disappointed and very distraught. Anyone else read this and it happened to you as well ? I do have an advocate at the mayo clinic, they might have an answer. I have heard nothing from y'all. Cept excuses and wait ,more excuses. I hope no one dies from all your mistakes. Went here on the 5th of July wont go back either. Showed up 15 minutes before my appointment to fill out paper workout (standard). Got done and then called me back to pay for my ultra sound ($148) never see that again. 12:30 appointment got called by at 1:10 (standard) Lady couldnt apologize enough. Said she was running late and didnt get lunch (so bad) took 20 minutes telling her where my ache was at. 20 minutes for the ultra sound got out of there at 1:50. While waiting the reception staff was doing their nails because it so busy. If you are the manager of this circus fire them alll and start over. Because they are lazy and SUCK. read more

I had a great experience at Simon Med this morning. Karina was at the front desk and was very helpful. She had to break some bad news to me that self-pay is $450 and my insurance was going to charge me $778 because of my deductible, but that had nothing to do with her wonderful service. She was empathetic and I'm sure has to give this news often which doesn't make her job easy. I was promptly take him back to get ready for my MRI. Jose was my MRI tech and he was efficient, kind and explained the procedure and keep me updated while I was in the MRI. Both Karina and Jose greeted me with a smile and were caring. read more

I have tried four times to schedule a CTA exam. The first try, I received a text message the day of the appointment and was told that the appointment had to be rescheduled due to a machine malfunction. I called and was scheduled for the next day at a different location. That morning I received another text message that my appointment had to be canceled due to them not receiving my insurance authorization. I called them and...woops, they had the authorization but had given my appointment away. They rescheduled me for a farther away location later that same day. Then, you got it, another text that my appointment was canceled because they didn't have my authorization. After hand carrying my copy of the authorization to the location, I was informed that they couldn't "fit" me in until 6 days later, at a further away location. Fast forward to today (6 days later). Yep, I received a text stating that my appointment was canceled because they didn't have my insurance authorization. I gave up!! Went back to my doctor's office and they sent me to Banner Imaging. I went directly there, asked to schedule the required procedure and was able to get an appointment right away. Moral of the story?! Stay far away from Simon Med!! read more

The front receptionist (unfortunately I didn't get his name, but he is a Caucasian male) was disgustingly rude and obnoxious. First, he was beyond loud when discussing my results and what I was to be seen for. When I asked if he had to discuss my concerns so loudly, he looked at me and said, "Anyway." Then, he proceeded to answer a phone call when I was standing right there trying to rectify an issue. He's abhorrent and has no place in customer service. This location is on a rapid decline and the lack of patient care is deplorable. The lack of compassion and overall customer service is abysmal. One star is way beyond what his so-called customer service deserves. He deserves 0s across the board. read more

I am my elderly aunt's caretaker. This review is regarding their scheduling department and their lack of empathy. They called her to schedule an appointment.She doesn't speak English, therefore is transferred to someone who speaks Spanish. As they proceed to tell her what she needs to schedule for (per doctors orders) she let the scheduler know she didn't want to schedule everything at once. They ask why. She explains she pays out of pocket and can't afford it. Immediately she's asked why and why didn't she tell her doctor that as if she's waisting their time. She lets them know she has, in fact, told her doctor and that maybe it was a language barrier miscommunication. After she's talked to like a child for not scheduling and she's told she will have to start from scratch when she decides to schedule again, she went into a panic mode. She already suffers from a heart condition and these situations easily trigger her. 1. Why is she being asked why she pays out of pocket? That's not their concern. 2. Why is she being questioned about her conversation with her doctor? It was obvious she was belittled for being a Spanish speaking immigrant who doesn't have health insurance. I am extremely disappointed by the scheduling department and lack of training, empathy and compassion. read more

Do not go here. The worst simonmed you can go to. Front desk doesn't greet you m, doesn't acknowledge that you are here. Just ignores you. I went to simonmed for the first time to get X-rays done. On their website and everywhere else, it says X-rays are a walk in basis from 830am -5:00pm. I got there at 4:05pm wasn't ack or anything didn't even get a I'll be with you shortly it. anything till she realized I wasn't going away. she finally acknowledged my existence and asked what I was here for I said X-rays. She said they are not doing X-rays anymore. She informed me that X-rays are done at 4:00pm at EVERY simonmed facilit. I called and the first 2 were EXTREMEL rude and unhelpful. The 3rd lady finally was abl to help me and confirmed that xrays were not cut off at 4:00, they are really from 8:30am-5:00pm, OTHER places at 4:30. NOT at that facility though. She was too busy on the phone and instead of doing her job. Simonmed should really rethink who they hire. read more

If you are claustrophobic this is not the clinic for you. They were running an hour behind and then did not let me know that they would be ready for me earlier so I could take my anxiety meds. They were unwilling to let me wait so the meds could start to work. When I made my appointment I told them I was very claustrophobic and no one told me there was a facility I could go to that could sedate me. I have used the Flagstaff and Prescott SimonMed facilities before and their level of care was so much better. I had an appointment at 12:10 the lady at the front desk charged my card and then AFTER charging my card proceeded to say that there was a 45 minute wait with 4 people in front of me. I told her I have a job and therefore I will not wait since I scheduled an appointment. She said I will receive a refund within 2-5 days. I have no received the refund and now i'm dealing with the call center telling me they have no record of it.... horribly unprofessional. Told me what the procedure was and, because the room has to be kept cold, got a sheet to cover me to keep me warm...thanks for that. Simón med did not even call my insurance to get authorization for an MRI. Neither my Dr nor my Ins were able to speak to them. They hung up on my insurance rep 3 times and were beyond rude to myself and my Dr and Insurance company. I had to take a day off and waste a PTO day on this. The disappointment of wasting more time in getting to the bottom of my injury. Unprofessional to say the least! If you are at all a risk for a fall, do not use this facility. I told the Xray tech to please not let me fall as I am at risk. She reassured me that she had experience with less mobile patients. Long story short, after the X-ray, I could not easily get off of the hard table, she saw I was having problems, said I should get off on the left side and walked away. I crawled down off the machine and from the floor I used my hands to pull a chair closer to me so I could pull myself up. I will call her supervisor on Monday to make a complaint. I was told Simon Med could do my husband's PET scan to see if his newly diagnosed cancer had spread. Clearly having a PET scan early on is the best thing to do. But Simon Med doesn't get it. They would not schedule an appt without the reports from the doc. For a week I was the go-between them and the doc office. Simon Med states they hadn't gotten the paperwork, doc office says they sent it. Simon Med states they faxes a request, doc office says they didn't get it. Finally 7 days later Simon Med states..."oh let me look in this file...yep there it is". WTF. But now Simon Med states our insurance doesn't even cover this procedure with them. I was having really bad MRI scan anxiety. I don't often get anxiety, but this one was real. Even though your mind knows it's an irrational fear the body says "nope, I don't want to do it". Anyway, after 3 failed attempts at other locations I came here. I decided to stop by a few days before so that there wouldn't be any surprises the day of the scan. When I came in and told the receptionist I was just there to scope things out and ask the tech some questions, she was very friendly and went and got the tech Jose. He was amazing. He pulled my orders and took me back and showed me the machine and walked me through step by step the whole process. He made me feel super comfortable and I'm happy to say the the 4th attempt was a success. Thank you Jose! read more

Halfway through my MRI the tech says "oopsy! I accidentally scanned the wrong hip. And we can't even scan the correct hip with the equipment we have at this location because you have a metal hip replacement there". They were told 3 TIMES that I had metal in the write, including the tech. He actually said "I didn't look at the order before I did the scan". Then (I assume) a doctor or manager came out and told me that MRIs are completely harmless, they've been around for 60 years. I do not believe MRIs ARE completely harmless. Why does the tech always leave the room when the MRI begins? Why are your privates covered by a heavy covering to protect them if it's truly harmless? It is, in fact, dangerous for someone with a metal hip replacement to receive an MRI. I found the "doctor's" comments completely misleading, trying to calm me down with lies. He was ONLY trying to protect their bottom line, definitely not his patients. read more

It is my 2nd attempt to have an MRI done with SimonMed. I was hit by a car a year ago and was waiting at their office for an MRI 2 hours after my scheduled appointment time. This 2nd time it has been, 1 hour and 30 min after my appointment scheduled and have not called me back yet. They say "they only have one MRI machine" I don't understand. Why not just schedule the appropriate amount of patients they think they can handle? As patients we don't want to spend all day at a clinic, especially now in days with COVID19. read more

I showed up to the SimonMed down the street at 4:10, waited in line just to be told that their X-ray machine isn't working. So I come here and she says "we take patients at 4:30 the latest." I explained the situation and she says she will ask. So then she asks but all she asked was "you still have people back there, huh?" instead asking if they can take me given that I was just at the other location down the street. So I leave and I come back the next day. And I'm waiting for the X-ray tech. I got here at 3:10 and it's been 40 minutes now. X-rays don't take that long. Like I really just want to know why it takes so long? The other location on 54th and Thunderbird told me 2 hours because there were 2 dexas ahead of me and 2 X-rays. Like why does it take so long? 2 hours? Come on, now. Dexas usually take 10-20 minutes and X-rays no more than a few minutes. It's like they sit in the back until they are ready to go and get the next patient. read more

I've never written a review before but I've had several bad experiences with Simon Med. Shame on me for continuing to go as they are located close to me and convenient but the negotiating of billing afterward is always a shock and and anything but convenient. I will travel to the ends of the earth before I visit Simon Med again!! Do yourself a favor and find another provided Simon Med is the absolute worst!!! If a patient who has been pre-authorized for a procedure, has a $200.00 or more co-payment - You may want to reach out beforehand (i made the appt. 2 weeks before) so they don't have sticker shock when they come in. To Whom it may concern: My name is Francisco Torres, today July 7 I visited your Thomas Location in Phoenix,AZ, located at 2830 N 3rd St. Phoenix,AZ 85004. I was there around 11:00 am and I left at 12:12 pm. I arrived and I was very nice attended by a man who checked me in, in a very nice polite way took care of my information including my health insurance. Couple minutes after he called me and processed my co pay. Couple minutes he called me again asking if I speak Spanish and as I do, happily helped him t translate for one of the patients. I love helping people. Some minutes later a man with a rude voice called my name and I didn't heard that he also called another woman. Looking the other woman walking in my same direction I asked him if he also called her. This was my frustration because in a very rude and bossy voice and no friendly look, he said: " Yes I called her too ".... and kept looking at me on a rude way. He directed me to the room to change my clothes and again with a bossy voice said: " you change and after lock the door ".... 4 minutes later a nice girl directed me to the RX room and instructed about the X rays were going to be taken with a nice and polite way. I mentioned to her about the incident with the man but at that moment I didn't know he was the technician. She was nice but all of a sudden he came to instruct me on the position for one of the X rays; also same bossy attitude. The technician girl told me everything was done and I asked her to tell me his name: Noel, she said. Noel or Neil ....Maybe this man had a bad day but my golden rule is to treat the others the same way I want to be treated. Or does he know that he makes his living from the money we the patients pay to Simonmed? We the patients arrived sometimes in pain, stress, sick, and it's not fair to be attended by a person like this man. Never use SimonMed if you care about your health. This is the worse imaging place as they have said to my husband and I at least 12 occasions that they never receive the orders from our doctors sent electronically and by fax. They make the appointments and Iwe've even confirmed that they have the order(s), and up I n arrival, they "can't find them" in their system. This is an operation by a bunch of buffoons. The scheduling people try to help, but, they are clueless where the orders are received and can't access the orders on-line or sent electronically at any of the locations. I've needed "stat" scans for brain bleeds, and rush there, and have had to call my doctors repeatedly to get the.order(sl).faxed and resent up to 6 times, and they still don't see them nor get them. I've spoken with multiple schedulers and all say the same thing, "We have a very poor system and this sort of thing frequently occurs." What possess us off is that when we arrive for our appts, we ALWAYS get the same story, "Your order is not in our system or it was deleted." This is BS. DON'T USE SIMON MED! read more

For a medical services facility it is a filthy shit hole. The chairs in the seating area are visibly soil, probably human excrement. Given lack of attention to basic sanitation makes me nervous about the lack of care with the imaging equipment....if this were food service the health department would shut it down. read more

I keep getting dropped or transferred to scheduling which i dont need. i even spoke to an escalation specialist and they passed the buck. A nightmare from start to finish. From wait times on the phone when scheduling appointments and not receiving a call back in a timely manner, to the actual scheduling process which took at least 20 minutes with limited preparation instructions, to the actual appointment experience, which was a different machine than promised on the phone. Their phone systems don't work- don't even hope to leave a message with a voicemail box that isn't set up. Supervisors are totally inept. The only positive about my experience was the empathetic front- desk staff. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to get imaged here. In a nutshell- this place is a cacophony of incompetence. read more

Another bad experience with SimonMed on Thomas! My husband was scheduled for an ultrasound, and one day before the appointment, we received a voice mail message from SMI confirming his appointment time. At the end of the message the caller added, "There will be an amount due. If you want to know how much it is, call us back at . . ." and she gave the main number. We didn't think anything of it because (a) my husband has good insurance, (b) in previous appointments with other imaging companies, our portion of the fee has never been unreasonable, and (c) he had a previous ultrasound in December at Banner Imaging, and there was no upfront fee at all. Banner billed his insurance company and later sent us a bill for the balance due, which was very reasonable. Imagine my husband's shock when, upon signing in at SimonMed, he was told the upfront fee would be almost $350.00! When he asked why so much, he was told that they demand the entire amount up front, then they bill the insurance company, and then, depending on how much the insurance company pays, they send a refund of the balance to the patient. My husband was livid but still offered to pay $100.00 up front. When he was told, "Sorry, that's our policy," he walked out. We're going to reschedule at Banner Imaging. What's the point of having insurance when one is expected to pay the full amount up front? However, not all imaging companies have this policy. Banner Imaging does not, and I'm sure there are many other companies with similar fee policies. Before you accept an imaging referral from your doctor, please check the billing practices of the company, as well as reviews on Yelp! and steer clear of SimonMed Imaging on Thomas! read more

I scheduled an appointment on line and when I went in I was promptly informed that they do not take appointments. Well then why offer appointments on line? I showed my confirmation to them. The person working the front desk was very rude. Took over 1-1/2 hours just to get seen. This location is just ridiculous... I only saw one other patient waiting the whole time I was there. I think they must be understaffed or something. All I needed was a simple chest xray too. I have made a note to never visit this location again.
