She said she's been going there for 10 years and the food is usually good. She recommended I say something, so I asked our server if I could speak with manager. I explained why to her and she returned stating that they have discounted the food. Soon after the ?chef came over. Rapidly asked what's wrong with the food. As I tried to explain, she kept cutting me off with a rebuttal. She eventually walked away interrupting the conversation. She then walks back, not sure if conviction hit her. She apologized saying sorry if it felt like i wasnt listening. I said that's exactly what it felt it. I said I didn't understand why she would come ask me for feedback if you weren't going to listen. She said she had several orders to take care of, and, yet again, prematurely ended the conversation. We were passing by and hadn't even committed to eating here when Mihaela, the Front of House Manager, greeted us with the most infectious, bubbly energy and convinced us to come in for dinner. BEST. DECISION. EVER. The food was amazing. The drinks were great. The service was wonderful. Ivona took great care of us, but Mihaela truly made the entire experience. Her personality is EVERYTHING -- warm, light, bubbly, hilarious, welcoming and just genuinely kind. She checked on us, made us feel completely at home, and somehow even ended up making a special playlist for us. From there, it was OVER. We were vibing, singing, eating and drinking all night. That's hospitality. There are plenty of places where you can get good food, but it's rare to encounter someone who can completely change the energy of your evening just by being herself. Normally, that wouldn't be a big deal--except I had just watched several white customers on either side of me receive samples without any issue. They were treated kindly and allowed to sample flavors, while I was denied the exact same courtesy. As a Black customer, the stark difference in treatment was impossible for me to ignore. Based on what I personally witnessed, I felt singled out and treated differently because of my race. I don't make an accusation of racial bias lightly, but when customers immediately around me are being accommodated and I'm denied the same basic service, it's reasonable to question why. What makes this even more disturbing is that after my experience, I came across another review from a Black customer describing a remarkably similar experience at this same location involving samples and differential treatment. Seeing that after experiencing it myself was extremely concerning. Whatever the reason, customers should receive the same level of courtesy and service regardless of race. Absolutely unacceptable experience.
