They said bring it right in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Double-checked old battery (Test results said "needs replacement", so was good to confirm we definitely needed a new battery. They did the install on the spot, and even noticed one of the clamps connecting the positive lead was corroded and broken and cleaned it up, replaced the clamp, all good as new. Charge for all that work? Nope. "Just come back again." Matt said. And I will. Next week, I need an oil change, so happy to support their terrific customer service. read more

Okay, I don't often write reviews, but this was deserving. Our son and others were in a horrible car accident that ended with severe injuries, and the car totaled. Was following google maps to try and spot some whales on Whidbey, and ended up on a dead-end gravel road. When I tried to turn around, my car got stuck in a ditch and we couldn't get it out! Thankfully my friend was able to reach Josh at Simmons who got to us incredibly quickly. He was even understanding when we gave him the wrong address by mistake. Josh not only got us out of the ditch but was also just nice and calming in a very stressful situation in an unfamiliar area. My car was over heating and I didn't have time to look I to it myself. So I came to Simmons. They did an excellent and clean job.

After crossing the sound on a ferry, our Outback wouldn't start, so a member of the crew brought over a jump starter and got us off the boat. However, the car barely could run down the road. It seemed to be fighting itself and we could barely get up the hill. I pulled into the first driveway and Google for automotive service near me. Imagine my surprise when the map showed one just across the street behind me. I managed to get to their driveway and went inside to describe what was going on. I was concerned that we had a very serious problem but the staff at Simmons thought the whole problem was the battery. Matt (I think that was his name) dropped what he was doing, ran a battery check and declared that the battery indeed needed replacement. I couldn't imagine how the battery could cause such rough driving but another mechanic insured me that the low voltage on the battery had messed up the computer in the car and that a new battery would bring it back as good as new. They swapped the battery with a new one, then another young man took the car for a test drive. When he came back, he said we were good to go. We couldn't be more proud of the service we received at Simmons and only wished that we didn't live two hour away because they would become our go to auto service business. We highly recommend this business to anyone who needs service for their vehicle. read more

We called AAA because our motorcycle wouldn't start. Simmons came out to help. It was determined that we needed to be towed after all. Another truck was sent out, a flat bed. Jacob was the driver. He's a great person! He did a fantastic job. I would reccomend Simmons towing to anyone. read more

My car would not start. It was parked in the garage. The garage is very narrow. After a lot of maneuvering my car was finally towed out of the garage. I was very impressed on how my car was taken out of the garage and no damage to the house. I highly recommend Simmons Garage if you needed a tow. read more

I've lived here on the rock for 16 years, and have always owned an 'island' car. If you don't know what that means, you have more money than I do. This means that I get towed or jumped often. AAA probably loses money on me. Simmons is our AAA place. I usually call them first, then call AAA to get 'official' for the paperwork. They've always showed up sooner than they said, and cheerful and helpful. Can't beat that with a stick. I miss Mrs. Simmons, who used to be the one who answered the phone. Very nice people and good service. My transmission dropped basically the second that I got on the island from the ferry. I am not local to Whidbey (I live in Seattle) so this was not good. Simmons towed it to their shop and took a look at it. Replacing the transmission was not worth it (older car, not very valuable) but I knew I could get someone to buy the car from me. Given that it would have cost around $500 to tow it back to Seattle on the ferry (yikes!), Simmons was VERY kind and let me keep it on their property for a week while I found someone to buy it and tow it away. They could have easily charged me a day rate for that, but they did not, and I really appreciate them giving me some time and flexibility given the super not-fun situation. I am planning on moving to Whidbey in the next few years, and they will definitely be my go-to repair shop at that time. read more

Simmons is awesome. I had a burned-out taillight on my 1995 Camry. They replaced the bulb in about five minutes and just charged me a couple of bucks for the bulb -- nothing at all for the labor. Cheapest auto repair I've ever had done. I'm not a regular visitor to Whidbey Island, but if I were, Simmons would be my auto shop. Thanks, guys! read more

I was "stranded" on the Island over the holidays and they really worked their butts off to get my car up and running by the time that they closed the day after Christmas. Great service, reasonable prices and if I ever get stuck out on Whidbey again, I won't think of anyone else to work on my car. They were SUPER friendly and patient as I tend not to be while stuck somewhere. Bonus: The shop/ garage has an old-timey auto shop feel too, which I love. read more

Simmons is undoubtably the best garage I have dealt with in my nearly 70 years of driving! I've been dealing with Simmons for a few years and am completely satisfied with their service. The people are capable, honest, helpful and down right friendly. They are good neighbors. The have given me free advice, and are great at diagnosing problems and providing reasonable and accurate estimates. The work is accomplished in a timely manner. Simmons provides a labor discount to those who have a current AAA membership. They have even provided me with a trip home while they worked on my car at times when I did not have some one to follow me to the garage and take me home. One time, when it was absolutely necessary for me to have the car the next day, they delivered after hours to my home with no additional charge. They even had someone pick up the delivery man so I didn't have to take him back to the garage. I strongly recommend Simmons garage to any one who needs a honest, capable and friendly team. Joseph A. I had my transmission replaced here. I have had a transmission replaced once before on another vehicle, and I know more about car repair than the average motorist. The advice given over the phone the (first time I called for the tow) was honest and not pushy. He even told me of a shop up the street that may be able to help me out. The repair did take a bit longer than it should have. But in the end it seems to have been done right, at a fair price. Honesty, decent work, and a fair price are all I ever hope for in a repair shop. And Simmons Garage had all three. I don't care if it takes extra time, as long as I don't get screwed! read more

I had to get a radiator replaced for my Lexus. They took an extra day to complete the job. Drove to California and the radiator failed. The mechanics at Simmons has not threaded the screws properly. Had to replace the radiator. Now I've paid twice for a radiator. Brought back the faulty radiator and was assured that I would be reimbursed for the labor and radiator. A check would be in the mail. One month later, I have not received it. Went by the garage and was told it would be sent, and that I was "lucky to get reimbursed at all, now go away". They have a plaque about their quality customer service and that they stand by their repairs. So far, they haven't and acted rudely in top of that. There are other choices. I suggest you go to someone who stands behind their work. read more
