I just notice they have been charging me an $8 monthly service fee! This is on a non-interest bearing account! An account where they make money off of your deposit, and you get nothing in return... And now, not only do you get nothing in return, for you lending them your money, but they charge you $8 monthly for letting them use your money! Of course, I closed the account right away! Why would you use a rip-off bank like Bank Midwest, when there are plenty of others that will actually pay your for letting them use your money?

Great Southern Bank is the bank my dad had at the Lake of the Ozarks. He died in January of 2009,…read moreso I had to deal with them. I'm still dealing with them. I found a small branch in Lee's Summit, they don't tell you about that branch over the phone. Nor did they have it online in what I believe to be a very antiquated website.. The one in Roach, MO is to be avoided as well. When my dad died, I went through all the red tape at the Lake branch, and did everything legal. I had provided the Ozarks branch with a death certificate. They didn't understand why I couldn't stop there after work, and sign the account over. Wow, first of all, I live in Independence, and couldn't go down to the Ozarks when they requested, so that I could sign papers. by the time I got to the Ozarks, the branch was closed. They insisted that I had to go to that branch to sign the papers. Then they suggested it would be easier if my dad went to the office to sign the account over to me. I couldn't get them to send me the papers. Asked if there was a notary there, they don't offer that service. So, I made many phone calls, through out the year, and in the midst of it, found out there was a small branch (mostly unlisted) in Lee's Summit. I thought my troubles were over. This bank wanted my dad to come in and sign his account over to me, even though my name was on the account. I dropped off the death cert. to them. A few months later, the Lee's Summit office slowly began to understand, that my dad wasn't able to go and sign the paper. Ofcourse, I had to practically draw them a Mapquest, as to the fact that I didn't live at the Lake of the Ozarks, that I live in Independence, MO. They were trying to say I lived at the Lake of the Ozarks, with my dad, and we could go to the branch together, and that is the best way to put the account in my name. After I ripped all of my hair out, a few weeks ago, I was able to discontinue the friggin' account. Those people are dumb, and one star is quite generous. I've ran into lot's of dumb businesses down in southern MO, and I'm going to let each one have it. I would never ever do any banking business with this bank whatsoever. And Lee's Summit should know better, than to be so dumb. Avoid them at all costs.

The large bank had many hidden charges, and their answering system was extremely tedious (and time-consuming) to navigate. Morgan H. greeted me and set up a savings and checking account. Not only is Morgan efficient and knows her stuff, but she is also extremely friendly and fun to talk to. It was the exact opposite experience of what I had grown used to! Thank you!! Farmers had the same rate as Loan Depot but promised lender credits of $4500. Th would have made the loan almost free to get into, I started uploading documents almost immediately. I had almost everything uploaded by the time I spoke to Stacey our loan processor, On several occasions Stacey would asked for documents that I had already uploaded. She also stated that she needed mortgage information on another property but she was unable to find it. I told her that she could not find the information because there was not mortgage on the property. She wanted proof, on a negative? she provided no phone number and relied only on email. Communication was slow and sporadic at best. she went on vacation at the time we were needing to close with only an auto reply from an email advising us. Needless to say we unable to close on the loan in the allotted time. Farmers Bank and trust raised the fees and cost of the mortgage because they were unable or unwilling to follow through with their original offer. On the updated loan cost sheet they raised the cost more than was allowed by law (their words) then they credited us the overage, trying to make it sound better and getting every penny the could. In the end we ended up closing with Farmers Band and Trust Kansas. I had already paid $700 out of pocket for an appraisal. It was a change of around $3000. In the end the mortgage was very similar the original offer by Loan Depot. I would NOT us Farmers bank again, I would NOT recommend anyone else using them. Find a reputable company. A good deal is only a good deal if they will close the loan as promised.
