I have been referred to SVP three times from my regular dentist and am always impressed by their professionalism, courtesy and expert work. While periodontic work is never painless, they do what they can to make it as comfortable, quick and stress-free as possible. The office staff are always honest and helpful. While I have had them forget things occasionally, like sending in a prescription, they're quick to own up to their mistake and correct it. I do have two minor complaints about this office though, which aren't deal killers. One is that they do not process all of your benefits for you. I have AFLAC Dental for supplemental coverage, and their office will not file those claims. They instead insist that I submit these myself. What makes this awkward is that AFLAC will often pay THEM instead of me, so I have to drive back in to get reimbursed. This has happened twice now, and it's inconvenient and a little annoying. Two is just a personal thing. Their office decor is weird, discomforting and a little bizarre. Huge cast figures in gold of human bodies on the wall. Black velour furniture. And dozens of blank white shelves filled with what looks like small round plastic fake plants. It's like being surrounded by an army of chia pets. It's not a warm, relaxing atmosphere, but it's a minor thing that doesn't reflect on their work at all. I'm sure there's a professional decorator in Simi who could fix this in a day or two. Just received a call to be notified that I had a consultation deductible to pay. Mind you my appointment was scheduled for tomorrow at 12:30. The principal that they require to be notified for a cancellation within 24hours, yet they can't call a potential patient within the same timeframe makes no sense. I called my insurance twice to verify if a deductible applied they stated it did not. Called the office back spoke to Yesenia and she was very rude and condescending. I have a life-long terror of dentists. So, when I say that Dr. Natasha Yashar's office is a refuge for the anxious and a sanctuary for the dental-phobic, that means a lot. Everything here is on point. The waiting room is drenched in warm lighting and filled with comfortable seating and tasteful décor. Nothing feels clinical, so it's easy to relax. The front desk staff greet patients warmly--they're all beyond lovely! In fact, the entire team is amazing. From the hygienist who somehow made the cleaning (dare I say) fun, to the technician who took my x-rays with care and consideration, everyone here seems to operate with the same blend of professionalism and compassion. As someone who's avoided dentists for years due to severe anxiety, I went to my first appointment with dread. Prior experiences left me freaked out because I was really worried about pain, the procedures weren't explained, and my questions were ignored. The periodontist I saw before Dr. Yashar was overtly rude and acted annoyed by anything I asked, so I just never went back. Dr. Yashar's approach couldn't be more different. She has that rare combination of technical excellence and exceptional bedside manner. During our consultation, she walked me through my situation with remarkable clarity. Most importantly, she just made me feel relaxed! I think that what truly sets this practice apart is how the whole team has transformed something I feared into something I can manage without a full-blown panic attack. I'm not usually one to leave reviews, but after my experience with Dr. Natasha Yashar, I felt like I had to. A few months ago, I thought I had a filling fall out. At my regular dentist, a simple check-up morphed into a full-blown cracked-tooth, you-need-an-implant-right-now situation. They handed me a printout of procedures with no explanation, just "sign here, we're extracting today." I had reasonable questions about why someone with healthy teeth suddenly needed an implant, and why the work was split between a periodontist and general dentist. The periodontist was dismissive, and nobody explained anything. I left feeling confused and uneasy. My wife suggested Dr. Yashar, whom she knows personally. Despite being 45 minutes from home, which is why we were seeing a closer dentist, we made the trip. Now we'll be making that drive for every appointment going forward. Her office feels genuinely calming. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Dr. Yashar answered every question before I even asked. She explained the process clearly, giving me a full understanding of what was happening, making me comfortable enough to proceed with the extraction that very day. She mentioned possible discomfort afterward, but somehow I experienced zero pain. No Advil needed. Either she has supernatural dental abilities or my nerve endings were too impressed to complain. I can't speak highly enough of Dr. Yashar. She's thorough, kind, and makes dental work somehow pleasant. My wife and I are patients for life. Totally worth the drive. read more

IF I COULD GIVE THEM ZERO STARS I WOULD. Horrible horrible experience here with NATASHA YASHAR. I visited in 2022 for a procedure for my 12 year old to have two teeth extracted and not only did they over numb her horribly but they never provided any antibiotics or pain meds. They told me they'd call my local Walgreens pharmacy and I never got a call. Hours later my daughter was in so much pain and when I called the Walgreens they had never received any contact info for her prescription. My husband had to call the offices and they didn't help because the Dr had already left the office. Eventually got a hold of her and it got resolved. This is just the beginning of the nightmare here. To make a long story shorter, they never informed me about payment or that I would have to PRE APPROVE her procedure. This is not my first dentist visit and actually I've had this procedure done myself at my dentist office at another location and I've never been told to pre approve a procedure in which I wouldn't know what the hell to ask for approval. I gave them my insurance, they took it after it was all done and had me pay in full over $1200 and I was thinking I would be reimbursed. I never was. I've opened a case to get this resolved because I was taken advantage of and not informed at all. I've spoken to other dentists I've worked with and this is bad practice on their end to want to take people's money instead of working with their insurance. Horrible place I will never ever ever step foot in here again. UPDATE: Dr. Natasha YASHAR reached out to try and resolve this on going issue with our insurance and happy to inform she was super attentive and wanted to help any way she could. In the end we were able to resolve it and she wrote out a check for us. Despite the initial problems we faced going to her office I will acknowledge when someone is trying to help and we're very grateful to her. read more

I had 2 extractions and a bone graft, all under local sedation and in one office visit. The doctor did a magnificent job. I had no pain during procedure, I could have fallen asleep. I have always been deathly afraid of dentists, orthodontists and anything related to dental work, let alone periodontics! A periodontist! I had receding gums due to braces and rough brushing. My dentist suggested this would be a safe and necessary procedure to keep my gum and bone healthy. He referred me to Simi Valley periodontics. I met Dr. Natasha Yashar and staff. They were warm, comforting and professional. She explained pre surgery and post surgery precautions and details for the day I would get a gum graft. The day I arrived, I was given music of my choice, a comfy chair, beautiful scenery and even a pair of sunglasses so the overhead light wouldn't bother me. We had laughs and in less than two hours I was done and out of the office safely and happy. Two weeks post op, I had a wonderful recovery and a beautiful smile! It really pains me to not give this place a better review, but I have to be honest about my experience. I was referred to Dr. Kaminsky by my Orthodontist who is also a patient of Dr. K. I'm a HUGE fan of my Ortho, so anyone they recommend comes with great prestige. My consultation with Dr. K was great, the office staff were friendly and helpful -- and during my visit, Dr. K mentioned that they specialize in cleanings. I was so/so about the dentist I had been seeing for the past couple of years, feeling as though he was either a hit or miss, so the idea of coming back here where I had such a good first experience, seemed like a no-brainer. When I came back, I was assigned to a hygienist who did a great job. She was likable and friendly and put me at ease. My cleaning was smooth and seamless but as I tend to get some build up in my front bottom teeth, she recommended numbing me up. My previous dentist (as well as others) would offer me a topical numbing agent as well from time to time. I didn't think it was necessary, but it was recommended, so I trusted her expertise. I walked out feeling happy with healthy gums. Then... a couple months later, I get a bill in the mail for $40 for the numbing agent. First of all, $40?! She rubbed a small amount on my gums... I didn't walk away with a container. Second, I've never been saddled with a pay-out-of-pocket for numbing cream. Why was I even offered something that was not included in my free annual teeth cleaning, without being told that there was an additional charge?! I have a zero tolerance policy for any company that sends me out happy and then follows up with unexpected charges. That's a big no-no, and unfortunately, I will not be back. read more

Like most people...I HATE going to the dentist. I'm one of those people that never go unless I have to and hoping its not "too late". I've always brushed my teeth like everyone else but I've never been one to do the normal check ups and cleanings as recommended. What a dumb decision on my part. So here I am...at the dentist office getting work done that all could've been avoided. My initial consultation with Dr Kaminsky went great. He walked me through the process of what was going/needed to happen. He gave me great suggestions and has a genuine caring personality to him. I went in for my first appointment. I don't remember the lady's name that 'prepped' me but she was caucasian and we talked about smoking cigars. She was awesome. Asked me what type of music I wanted to listen to and basically just made me comfortable. I then met Dr Yashar. She was awesome too! She took great care of me during the process and although I was embarrassed about my dental situation, she was super encouraging and caring. She consistently asked me if I was okay and made sure I was comfortable. My overall experience with Dr Kaminsky and Dr Yashar is definitely deserving of 5 stars. My sons orthodontist, Dr Sandijeh, referred us to Simi Valley Periodontics for an oral surgery procedure that was needed for his current treatment plan and from the moment I called I was treated well. Denise helped schedule my appointment within the time frame even though it was short notice and emailed me all the necessary paperwork including any out of pocket expense. The day of the appointment, Dr. Yashar came in and explained the entire procedure not only to me but my son. Throughout the appointment she made sure he was at ease and understood what was happening throughout the process. I have a tooth that my dentist told me needed to be removed. I was also told there was no option for replacing it. And I wasn't really given any information about the effects of not having the work done by two doctors. So I delayed it around 6 months because of COVID. Dr. Yashar saw me after my primary dentist and a few specialists could not figure out my constant pain and headaches lasting many months. Dr Yashar really listened, talking to me on my level. She did a great job of trouble shooting and problem solving, like a Sherlock Holmes of the mouth. The 3D X-Ray showed my premolar was fine, but she removed it anyway and the pain and headaches went away! Dr. Yashar performed a bone graft and later installed a titanium implant in the vacant area. All procedures were painless and precise. I suspect she is a perfectionist and I imagine she plays herself at chess, but those are the qualities you want in your professional. I went to Dr. Kaminsky for a second opinion. My first periodontist suggested surgery after a very quick exam. Dr. Kaminsky took his time examining my gums and talking with me about the problem. After asking for my old x-rays, he was able to figure out the likely source of the problem and suggested some less invasive (and less expensive) measures. I recently had to have a tooth extracted and an implant put in. I was referred to Dr. Kaminsky because I heard he was a best around. It was very traumatic for me to think of losing a tooth. Dr Kaminsky explained everything to me and took away all my anxiety. He is very kind and gentle and checked up on me after every appointment to make sure I was doing ok. I've been going to Dr. Kaminsky and Dr. Yashar for the past 5 years. They and their staff, have treated me like gold. I've had everything from cleanings, to extractions, to bone grafts and the results have been fine. All of the staff make you feel at ease when you come in. I am scared to go for any dental work but let's face it, it's a necessary evil. Those silly little teeth help you chew your food, give you a nice smile and also keep your face from falling into the floor-- not a pretty sight!!
