I Last reviewed Silvio's 7 years ago, this place has become a staple for premier Italian food in Louisville. I've run the entire menus of pasta dishes, and without fail, they are always excellent. This time, for the first time, I tried something non-pasta, which was hard because this place is so top notch for a pasta dish, but I figured I would just steal some of my wife's pasta dish if I didn't like my pork chop. But there was no worry. That was one of the thickest and juiciest cuts of bone-in pork I've had in ages! It was like a tomahawk steak but as a pork chop. The glaze was perfection, and the whole chop was perfectly done. The veggies were the perfect complement and everything went together nicely, and as always, Bill comes out to check how things are going. We love this place, and try to go once every 4-5 weeks or so. Our group was delighted with the food, service, and the entire experience! The Caesar salad was so good! We loved the Fettuccine Alfredo too. We finished with the Tiramisu and it was delicious! Silvio's remains a great option for filling, indulgent Italian that you don't need to wait for a special occasion to eat. It's more approachable than fine dining but still refined a bit to feel a little fancy. And the food seems reliably delicious. Or at least that's the sense I got after visiting for the first time in many years recently. My friend and I were able to get a table, though the restaurant did seem pretty busy. I enjoyed a glass of wine from the menu that started the meal off right. And then I dug into the bolognese. This four-meat sauce is served in rigatoni. It's not fussy, just delicious. The ambiance was cozy enough that you could talk to your dinner mate without shouting but also not feel cramped. Silvio's might get overlooked, but it seems a solid option for an Italian meal. read more

After reading about it in the Louisville Takeout Facebook group, we went to Silvio's for an early Valentine's Day dinner. We ordered a Caesar salad, eggplant parmesan, cheese lasagna with a meatball, and broccoli. The food arrived quickly, was flavorful, and had huge portions. However, our pasta dishes weren't very warm/hot. Our server was attentive and friendly and even offered to take our photo after dinner. It's a solid choice for Italian food. read more

The Caesar salad and veal parmigiana were good. But the prices are astronomical for the quality and portions. I would suggest bringing down the prices as they don't really reflect the quality of the food. Atmosphere is crammed. Hard to get a table. I guess it's good for Louisville standards. read more

Oh my, this place will blow your mind!! I will be honest, we tried to get into one of our favorite Italian restaurants at the last minute and came up short. But wait, we found Silvio's!! Silvio's is a small, hidden restaurant in Louisville that we never heard of. They fit us in and quickly converted us. The service is unmatched, with the owners making sure your visit is special and all your dining needs are met. They are known for chicken parm however, we went for the lasagna and it was the best I have ever had. We are headed back soon for the chicken parm soon. The owner has a great story and will spend the time to tell you all about it. You will not walk out hungry or broke. The value for the entire experience is huge! Spaghetti with meatballs was classic and hit the spot. The meatballs were juicy and had a great texture, not too dense. The sauce had just enough herbs to make it feel homemade. Supposed to be an easy Italian classic, some say for a late night pasta or hangover dish. The olive oil and parsley was in excess, ultimately causing the flavor to be off balance. Have been going here for a while now but I'll talk about my most recent experience. Arrived for an early dinner. It's a nice cozy local family owned restaurant. The hostess was friendly and showed us to our table. I had the grilled romaine appetizer and wife had the Bruschetta. Both were fantastic. I then had a cheese lasagna and wife had the pork chop. I loved my Lasagna but the pork chop was even better. Then the chef came out and talked to everyone. Very friendly. For dessert I got the lemon cello which was again great. Food was very overpriced. Somewhat flavorful but uninspired and DEFINITELY not worth $25-35 a plate. ($13 for a basic Caesar salad with no protein). We were drawn in by the architecture from the street, but inside it felt a little rundown and again, uninspired. With that kind of a structure, I would expect a little more thought to go into the ambience. We were also served our food by a young man who I thought might be the son of the owners because of his sense of disconnect with customers and his job. He seemed like he could care less. Food and ambiance are great! The shrimp scampi from the appetizer with added angel hair pasta was a perfect t entree for me. It was the best I've ever had. What a great Italian restaurant! The food was superb. Everything was presented well and tasted wonderful. I had the linguine with clam sauce which was to die for. I went here with a group of 6 to celebrate a birthday. The food never disappoints!!! Two of us got the veil parm which gave us plenty of leftovers and just amazing, one person got the special for the evening and loved it, one ordered the spaghetti and meatball (also amazing), one ordered the Alfredo which was delicious, and last but not least one ordered the pork chop. We went to Silvio's on a date night and it was such a pleasant experience. It is a small intimate place with a friendly feel. Parking is limited so prepare for that. Our service was wonderful and our food came out fairly quickly. I had the Bolognese, which was good, but I would probably get something else next time. It had something with a bit of a kick in it. My husband (who doesn't really enjoy going out for pasta) loved his Chicken park and raves about Silvio's being the best Italian restaurant in the city. Nice place for an Italian dinner. The food was very good - not the best I've ever had, but perfectly acceptable. The atmosphere was cozy but it was very loud so a bit of a challenge to have a conversation. Best part of the meal was the caesar salad- it was fresh and perfectly dressed. I also tried a side of risotto. It was okay, not a lot of flavor. The eggplant parm was fine. Breading was a little thick and sauce was runny but flavors were good. Great experience! Came here with my husband for a late Valentine's Day dinner. Don't wait long to get reservations! They are only open for a few hours in the evening and it is a SUPER small spot.
