My daughter, now nearly 8, found Poekie Nook 2 years ago and since then she has sewn about 40 poekies, made 4 houses, and a couple different habitats. She has gone to summer camps, holiday camps, after school hours, spent most Saturdays, and had her birthday party at her beloved Poekie Nook. It's a place where she can go, be herself, and visit with kind friends and teachers while keeping her imagination and hands busy sewing the softest, cutest animals ever. Sophia, Christine, Jay, Abby, and all the amazing teachers that work with the kids each provide guidance and allow for independence and imagination to flourish. The other children there range in ages so the younger ones get to listen in on conversations about middle and high school life, while they all develop skills of conversation and socialization, as well as dexterity and the craft of sewing. Honestly, it's the best thing that could have happened early in her life to have found such a wholesome place and be a part of such a lovely community. I purchased my fiancé's ring in Pienza, Tuscany in secret after she tried it on and said she loved…read moreit. It's an antique: 110-120 years old, Italian red gold, miners' diamonds. When she'd tried it on in the store, it was a perfect fit. Several months later when I proposed, the ring was literally 2.5 sizes too big (she'd clearly had inflammation from the travel, heat, etc. when she tried it on). We also noticed one of the diamonds was ever so slightly loose. We were told by some that it was impossible to size down. I was extremely worried about american jewelers damaging or ruining the ring. The antique gold, the placement of the diamonds, everything was too complicated. Thank goodness we got the recommendation to go to Sausalito jewelers. Their in house jeweler, Paulo, is Italian and holds master jeweler certification from Florence. He did an absolutely perfect restoration. He brought it down over 2 sizes, he gave it a gentle polish, and he was able to adjust the loose ring. He did this work without in any way changing or distorting the original look or shape of the ring. I cannot tell you how happy we are with it. Also, huge shout out to Sam and Aida who work there, did the consultation with us, and who are always willing to give our pup, Pax, a treat. I cannot give enough compliments or thanks to this team.
