Myself & my husband of 20 yrs have been Dr Thurman's patients beginning at the original clinic Edmonds Family Medicine that I have been going to since I was 7 in 1972. I have had 3 Dr's retire Dr Thurman is the last Mohican from the original clinic, after he finally decided to to sell to a big chain. We followed him to Evergreen in Monroe. I am a loyal patient as he is a loyal Dr. He is calming, honest, doesn't claim to know everything. He will refer to a specialist if need be to find out the diagnosis. He is a Dr but also a detective in seeking answers to help in diagnosing whatever is ailing his patient. He really cares. His generation like mine is one of the last that we're taught to be respectful, humble, truthful, honest, caring, communicative. I am proactive also. I more than anyone know my body. I must communicate & research effectively so my Dr then can refer me to a specialist or possibly diagnose what is going on. Its teamwork always, or you may not get the answers you need. Dr Thurman is very popular. If he is taking a new client then you are blessed to have him as your primary care provider. I am very detailed in my communication which is helpful to all Dr's. Pharmacists know the most about types of medications, which one is the best for you, based on your medical conditions & all diagnosis. I must call my provider to see if they will cover some medications if I want to switch. Dr's are not pharmacists, they know medicine but not all brands of every kind. That research is my job with a pharmacist. Find a patient pharmacist. If you dont like an answer from your Dr be kind & tell him. Ask if there are any other options for you. Then call your provider to see if they will pay for what you want, or cover the cost of medicine, or treatments that may be needed. Communication takes two. Be Proactive. Noone is going to advocate for you like yourself. Ask questions. Seek answers. Ask wise friends or family. God Bless you.

Dr. Sherris has walked into the room fully prepared for the procedure at hand or for a follow up on a previous one. He is also very engaging and a pleasure to talk to. What I find impressive is that his office is a one-man show but, unlike another podiatrist I had seen who is the sole practitioner in his office, Dr. Sherris was never rushed or had me waiting for 5-10 minutes while he was hurrying between patients in other rooms. Dr. Sherris remains in the room, giving you his full attention. I was actually a bit disappointed to realize at my last visit that there was no need for additional follow up. This practice is definitely worth the drive to Poulsbo.

I came in for bunions I have had since childhood. We agreed that surgery was the answer and I was signed right up. That's when the troubles began. My son flew in to take care of me after surgery. After he arranged his work schedule and I bought a plane ticket for him I got a call from Collin telling me that there had been an issue with reserving the OR and that we needed to reschedule. I told him that was not an option as we had already bought a ticket. He sorted that out. Then days before surgery I received an EOB from Cigna telling me that Dr. Sherris was now out of network. That led to more panic and running around before that got sorted out as well. I had the surgery in April 2025. Went back in for my first post-op and found Dr. Sherris to be very abrupt. He hastily removed my stitches and never once asked me how my pain level was. I was told that it would take 9-12 months for all of the pain and swelling to go away. I went back at 9 months (still swollen and in a lot of pain) and was told I had a stress fracture and was put back into a boot. The swelling went down but as soon as I got out of the boot it came right back. I was told to keep waiting and it would all be fine. After 15 months I was much worse than I was before I had surgery. I then got another opinion from an orthopedic surgeon. I was told that the surgery failed and I have now had to have this surgery a second time. Dr. Sherris put a staple into my big toe and one of the prongs was stuck between the bones, rubbing and causing all kinds of damage. If I had taken no action I would not have been able to walk much longer. I am in my 40's and have a lot of walking to do still in this life. I just wish I would have gotten a second opinion much sooner instead of living in terrible pain for so many months. I have had to take 6 weeks off of work but am recovering nicely. I have far less swelling and bruising than I did last time. I highly recommend that you see an ortho if you need bunion repair. This time around this situation has been just a major inconvenience. The first time it was traumatic. I am optimistic that I will get my life back this time.
