Let's go through a list of why you should stay: 1. private access to the river 2. Incredible views 3. Great landscaping, fire pit, grill, and general amenities in each spot like a picnic table, shaded area, trash can, etc. 4. Rich and Linda are super friendly. 5. Bathrooms & showers are spotless 6. Quiet and peaceful 7. Comfortable beds in the cabins Once people find out about these, it will be hard to find a place. I recommend going now!

However, if you just show up, other sites that are available are only $18/night. I wish I would have waited to reserve, but at least you can drive here and know by reserving early that you have a place to sleep! You also need to pay a daily state park fee, unless you have a yearly pass. (this is in addition to the campground fee) Our site was right on the river, and even though this campground is right off the main road into town or into Big Horn Sheep Canyon, when the sun sets, you will not really hear the cars and trucks going by due to the sounds of the river. It was very high when we visited. At night, depending on your site, and if you are in a tent or camper, you may see a bright light shining from a business across the street. Not to worry, as you will still be able to see a night sky of amazingly beautiful stars! It was cool to be hanging out after a long day and see people rafting down the river. The sites are pretty open, and there are only a few with shade. However, there is plenty of parking, and most people were pretty respectful. There are people camping out on the other side of the river, which was a little sketchy and strange. They didn't do anything weird when we were there, but it was a little uncomfortable. However, since I had my dog, and there were other campers nearby, I felt safe. The one recommendation I have is that they use sand or dirt trucked in for their tent pad areas. They currently have gravel! Gravel is useless with a tent, as my tent stakes could not find secure footing in the ground. I then tried to pitch the tent next to the tent pad area in the dirt, and the dirt was rock solid! I then realized why there were so many large stones in the tent pad area. I used these to help my tent stay grounded and upright for the two days and nights we were there. (When we were there, there was a truck coming into the campground area in the morning and dropping off dirt in a big gully. ) The port-a-pots were the cleanest I have ever seen!

The tent pad barely fit our 6 person tent, so keep that in mind if you're camping with family or friends. When the wind blows in from the west, you'll get to enjoy the sickly sweet smell of pit potties. But the biggest problem was the wind. I suspect it's not always this windy, but it was like trying to camp in a wind tunnel. And getting a fire started was a challenge which took three adults blocking the wind just to get it started. Also, we were very concerned about how close the burn pit was to the local plants. There are already several wildfires blazing in CO as I write this, and we didn't want to be the cause of another. This meant we had to extra diligent in watching our fire. A situation that was helped by the fact that the grill grate would lay right on top of the foliage if you let go of it. So if you are just needing a place to sleep, this will work. But if you want a pleasant camping experience, I recommend you look at Hecla Junction Campground or O'Haver Lake Campground

The bathrooms are impeccably clean. Seriously the nicest and cleanest bathrooms we've ever seen at a campground. The staff is kind and very helpful. We had a problem with the electricity in our camper when we arrived and one of their employees came immediately to help us. Very kind. The campground is 5 minutes north of Buena Vista- a cute small town. Be sure to visit the newly-constructed "new downtown" that looks right out of a magazine--charming. Excellent whitewater rafting in the area. About half an hour south of Leadville. This area doesn't have your stereotypical mountain scenery but it is nestled in a wide valley between mountains. Morning and evenings are especially nice. I recommend staying here.

We booked fairly last minute, so the main lodge was already reserved for a family reunion, but we were able to rent Centennial Hall for our reception, and it worked out wonderfully. One thing to be aware of if you're planning a summer wedding is that Centennial Hall does not have air conditioning, so it can get quite warm during the reception. Even so, everyone had a fantastic time. We also experienced an unexpected issue with a neighboring property owner playing loud music during our reception. We later learned this has been an ongoing issue because he has expressed that he doesn't enjoy living next to an event venue. Fortunately, our DJ was able to drown out most of the noise, and, behind the scenes, Cammie handled the situation quickly by contacting law enforcement. Everything was resolved promptly, and it never became an issue that took away from our celebration. Overall, we couldn't have been happier with our experience. Deer Valley Ranch is a gorgeous venue with an amazing staff, breathtaking views, and affordable value. We'd absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful mountain wedding venue.

We loved our stay at the Cottonwood cabin. It was an unplugged getaway and this place hit the…read moreright vibe. The cabin itself is a historic one that was moved to this location, that being said it is both incredibly cute and quirky. The log cabin itself felt cozy and rustic. The hot springs pool in the back was amazing and relaxing. It was clean, clear and warm the entire time we were there (they do give you a hose to cool it down as needed). I found it private. Now, that does not mean there is nobody around. The other cabin (Hortense) is nearby and you can see houses up on the mountains behind the house (plus a few more in the valley). We heard a couple voices from Hortense (nothing loud) and we did briefly see the dogs people mentioned (although it was like a quick run through the yard when we were eating lunch inside). We did not have a problem with privacy or noise - it was all peaceful. The cabin has a nice living room upstairs (and a bedroom with 2 twins we did not use). They also have a variety of board games and cards (which we definitely used). Downstairs is the queen bedroom, the kitchen (with stove, micro, dishwasher, fridge and all you need) and a very, very, very tiny bathroom with a sink, toilet and shower. It is a very old cabin and the floors are a bit slanted. I didn't think it was that bad, although around the bathroom a lot of different flooring met and there was some unevenness. The bathroom is the only thing I did not care for. It was impossibly small. Showering in that stall was downright claustrophobic. It wouldn't stop me from renting again, but it was what I took a star off for. Still, overall it was a wonderful stay. No TVs, just wi-fi. Plenty of beautiful views, hot springs and and awesome relaxing can be found here. It is also literally just down the street from Mt. Princeton. Love it!

The Antero Hot Springs Cabins are run down and poorly maintained. The price that is charged for…read morethese cabins is extremely high for what you get. They appear to have been quaint at one time but they are not now. First, these cabins are not remote at all. They are located right next to each other and there is a house on the hill overlooking two of them. We could hear the people next to us talking while they were in the back of their cabin, and I'm sure that they could hear us. There really isn't much privacy. The hot springs fed hot tub was nice but it was not clean. Supposedly, the tubs are drained and cleaned after every guest stay. I highly doubt that ours was drained let alone cleaned. I spent the first 30 minutes skimming out leaves and debris from the surrounding trees and plants. The cabins are rustic. They are definitely not luxurious. The shower is very small and basic. It is so small and dirty that you will be thinking: "why bother?" Ours had mold in the grout. BTW, it takes almost 10 minutes for the water to get hot. I could give some more specifics but if you've read this far, I think you get the idea. If you're not concerned about having a lot of privacy and cleanliness etc, these may be worth a visit...but I think for the price, you can do a lot better. One more thing: there is a review on Yelp or Google about the owner's dogs bothering some guests. When my friend, who booked our stay, inquired about it, the owner or an employee named Jessica replied in a way as to suggest that there was no problem. However, when we got into the cabin and read some of the many signs and rules, one mentioned that if loose dogs come near the cabin to not feed them or let them into the cabin. It described the dogs as being "valley dogs." I suspect that they are the owners dogs. I could hear dogs barking in the residence on the property. They didn't bother us at all but it made me suspect that the owners are not being forthright about the issue that had been reported in the review.

We really enjoyed our stay here!…read more Jeff was very friendly and helpful when we arrived. This was our first outing with our new rig and he gave us some pointers and got us setup. The park was clean and had everything we needed. Their prices we some of the best in the area and the location was close to town but far enough away that it was dark and night and you could see the stars. Road noise was not an issue but could possibly be if your were in a tent.

I love that! There was little need to ask questions about the logistics of what we needed to do where we needed to go. They crushed it! I appreciated the genuine interaction with the staff again, from the time we entered the storefront, getting equipped with , instruction and training, the ride to and from the river, and of course, the on river experience. They knocked it out of the park! I have gone rafting in a number of places with a number of different outfitters. This business being small, fills in all the personalized gaps that you lose in larger companies. Kudos to Salinas adventures!...thanks Angie! I would recommend without hesitation, and if I live closer, I would return... Hands-down!
