Roughly about 30 spots. ++ It's FREE! Always a plus when camping. ++ The campsites are actually REALLY spaced out. We couldn't even see another spot from ours! ++ There's access to several hikes and Mt. Princeton Hot Springs is right up the road. CONs: -- While there are a lot of trees, there's isn't much shade. -- Campsites near the creek were pretty rocky and small. Not the best for a large group. Brown's Creek is def an area that we'll keep in mind for future camping trips and hiking adventures! Love that camping life! **Pro Tip: If you're planning on heading up over a holiday weekend make sure you get there early. We went up the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend and the sites were already pretty picked over.

Anthony totally took care of us, making sure we were comfortable at our site which was right by the river. We locked ourselves out of the trailer late on Saturday night. We called the after hours number and the host, Megan, called Anthony. IAnthony offered to take us to a hotel and call a locksmith in the morning. Our keys, purses, chargers, etc. were locked in the trailer. To make a long story short, he helped us break into the trailer. The next morning he came back and repaired the lock that we broke to get in. When he was done, it looked like new. Anthony refused any money, he did all this on his own time. The restrooms were amazing!! The whole camp was very clean and accommodating. Everyone was very nice and shared positive vibes. This is now our favorite place to stay when we are in the Salida, Buena Vista area. They have a fun gift shop and they help you with rafting trips, hot spring excursions, etc. The town of Salida is nearby and has cute stores, restaurants, and river access. I HIGHLY recommend Chalk Creek Campground. What could have been a terrible weekend that first time out, turned out to be a wonderful weekend thanks to Anthony and to Megan's hospitality. We are Messianic/1st century Christians that celebrate the Hebrew Festivals so finding places we can trust with the "set apart" vibes is super important to us. First off, I love that this campsite is still owned by a family VS a corporation! The owner Megan is so sweet and really does her best to manage the grounds and create a great experience for her customers. Her staff Ron, Jan, Jason, Jeremy, Michael, Luke, Joyce, and Anthony (everyone I can think at the moment) really makes this place feel like a home away from home. Great location: We personally like camping in tents down at the lower level. Yes, there is a road that can be heard because it's directly behind the site but who cares?! I think it's in a really convenient place in between Salida (20 minutes away) and Buena Vista (7 minutes away). The beautiful river that runs through is really pretty sounding most of the time! I go straight to sleep hearing the babbling brooks and occasional fish plopping out of the waters Facilities and convenience: The wifi is great! I believe they use starlink now! I like to park ny truck at the upper level to finish any work emails/calls or watch movies The showers do require quarters but I won't complain because they get really hot, really fast. I've never had any issues with having hot water here. Also, the bathrooms stay really clean and the laundry room next door is super convenient. We like to shop in the front store for stuff when we run out of basics. Saves time and money not having to go to the grocery store! Dog friendly: We have a small dog (terrier and Chihuahua mix) that gets pretty yappy when she sees other dogs but what dogs don't freak out when they see other dogs? The poop stop for her at the upper level is great to let her do her business when other dogs aren't around. We dont have any kids with us but we see families come with kids all of the time and they seem really happy playing lots of outdoor games in the fields! The campsite also hosts bingo on weekends and kids have lots of fun playing. God bless this place!

Best kept secret in Buena Vista!…read more 2 night stay in the dry cabins with lows in the 30's - we had absolutely no issues with the room getting too cold, the room has an abundant amount of sunshine during the day to keep the cabins warm enough! Let's go through a list of why you should stay: 1. private access to the river 2. Incredible views 3. Great landscaping, fire pit, grill, and general amenities in each spot like a picnic table, shaded area, trash can, etc. 4. Rich and Linda are super friendly. 5. Bathrooms & showers are spotless 6. WOW what a time. My…read morefriend and I signed up with this company to take us on a 2 day extreme class IV/V Overnight rafting trip on the Arkansas river. We both have experience with this company from rafting the Upper Salt River in AZ. Unfortunately the water levels didn't cooperate but, the rafting company modified the itinerary to give us the best possible adventure possible. Day upper upper Browns Canyon which led to class I've and the use of duckies. Operation am not a fan but, half of our group loved them. We were then driven 1.5 hours away for our dinner and tent camping (3 miles from our put in). Ryan and Eric our guides cooked a great meal and catered to the group. We awakened to a mist and heavy fog, which we were served pancakes and sausages for a warm breakfast, and let's not forget hot coffee. We then departed at 8:30 for our trip down the Royal Gorge were we hit class in rapids, lots of class 3s, great geology, good company, lots of fun and a great experience. Ryan our lead guide and Eric did a great job for 2 days of providing us a great experience and memories. You have many choices but from a personal experience this is the best company to deal with. We are already planning next year's multi day trip.
