What a great spot to grab a bite after a long hike. Friendly service, nice selection, and awesome staff make this eatery perfect for catching up with friends and gearing up for a great weekend. Seating is plentiful and there are options for large and small parties. The food was great!

The kinda cool place I imagine Bruce H. rides into for a solid meal after a morning ride on his Harley through the back roads of Irvine, but before stopping at Cook's Corner - iykyk. Not much activity when we stopped in, Saturday 5/31 just after 12:30pm. Locals reading newspapers at the counter and lingering over coffee, chatting up the latest gossip. Two ladies finishing a long catch-up conversation over brunch and low key, friendly folks cooking up good food. A shelf along the wall just inside the door is a welcome spot for helmets and two solo riders stopped in for a bite while we were there. Don't sleep on Silverado! Yeah, blink and you'll miss it, but there's civic pride and it's the type of small town Angelenos think of when they want to disappear for a spell. The Silverado Cafe has a lot of interesting historical artifacts, local lore and a building that may have been one of the first commercial buildings here. We were on our way to Arden: Helena Modjeska House and Silverado Cafe was the perfect place to stop for a bite along the way. Hubs selected the 2 egg w/beef patty, substituting crinkle fries for Country Potatoes, and I chose the 2 egg Popeye Omelette: Polish sausage, spinach, mushroom, onion & Swiss cheese, also substituting in crinkle fries. While I always hope I'm getting actual Swiss cheese, I rarely - hardly ever - do, so in a small cafe I expected, and received, processed "Swiss" cheese. Everything else was fresh and satisfying. Even Hubs' burger looked hand formed/fresh, so kudos for that! Prices were below what we've paid in recent months, and portions were plentiful. Staff stayed on top of coffee refills and pleasantly checking in on us without hovering. They know what they're doing here at the Silverado Cafe, so we shall return. Cheers! "CC"

A hidden gem filled with locals with a happy and friendly staff. Walking into the cafe sends you back to old school diner vibes. I ordered an off the menu machaca breakfast burrito. The beef was tender and tasty, the home fried potatoes were crispy and salted perfectly. My buddies' chili verde burrito was filled with big chunks of pork. The service was fast and attentive and great prices! Will definitely come back when in this area again!

Came here as we were at a dog show in Oak Canyon park and restaurant was listed as dog friendly. There is only 1 table available the chairs are disintegrating and you have to go inside to order. The food was very good tho and staff friendly when you can catch them

Charming, rustic, small cafe with great service and food. My go to when hiking in the area. Large, yummy portions at reasonable prices.

I really wanted to love this place but I think my favorite part about it was the service and the scenic drive out to it. It's a tiny little country diner nestled in a canyon in eastern Orange County. It really feels like you are leaving the city and it's very tranquil and quiet surrounding the restaurant. The food quality was honestly nothing special and being that I go to diners often every month, the meal itself was not very memorable, but we still had an enjoyable experience. The restaurant itself is pretty small, they don't have any outside seating, everything is indoor, but they do have booth, table, and counter seating. There's also a free parking lot attached in the dirt lot right next to the restaurant. Our server was really polite and we were actually the only two people dining for breakfast on Friday morning, which we thought was pretty unusual. We arrived around 10 AM as well so it wasn't at opening. I started off with a Cinnamon Roll for the table, and this is my favorite part of the meal. It was really tasty and very filling. I wish there would've been a stronger cinnamon flavor, and more glaze, but that's just my personal preference. For my breakfast, I chose the Chicken Fried Steak and thought it was overly cooked. It was almost too crispy so the flavor was really cooked out of it. The gravy on top also had ham pieces in it, which can be a nice touch, but I thought it took away from the steak flavor. My eggs were also a little overcooked so all in all the food quality was not my favorite part of the meal. I would suggest to anyone in the area to try it at least once because it is a really unique place to have a quick and casual meal.

Amazing rustic place . I just love this gem . It feels like you are in some Mexican cafe in a movie set . Priced fairly reasonable . Brunch will run you about $10-15 depending on your dish . I had the Chirazo & eggs breakfast . Would highly recommend any of their burritos . Service was attentive and excellent .

The most authentic, one of the oldest relic from the past when Mexico was the ruler of this piece of heaven in the edge of the American Western Ocean front real estate, the northeastern region of old Irvine Ranch now hosts few scattered town made up of old cowboy homes and bars and this Mexican American Diner. When someone says that they ate at a hole in the wall diner, they most likely mean this place. The place is the model of a dive. Every little bit of this restaurant is a true representation of Hole in the Wall, Relics of Old, The Divest of Deep Divey restaurant. And the best thing about it is that it's the best breakfast and lunch place in Orange County. Bar None. For $17 you get a huge tenderloin steak, potatoes, two large eggs, five habaneros sauce and two large wheat toast. I strongly recommend that you try this Divey five stars restaurant.

Awesome little gem hidden here on Silverado Canyon Rd, on Santiago Canyon Rd. Parking sand lot is a bit small, but the restaurant doesn't get too crowded. There is also parking available on the street. We've been here twice already, but this is our first time actually coming into this restaurant. The look is very rustic, very old, it goes well with its surroundings. I bet this restaurant has been here for more than 50 years at least! Coming inside, the atmosphere is very relaxed, also, very old style. Not too noisy inside, just perfect. You come in, seat wherever you like, then wait for the waitress. Booth seating, table seating, and bar seating available. Our waitress's name is Kisha (Hope is spelled correctly), she was friendly, giving us excellent recommendations. My wife tried the $12.25 Eggs with chorizo plate (Red skin potatoes, beans, chorizo, and corn tortillas), and I tried the $11.50 French Toast combo (4 pieces of French toast , 2 eggs, and choice of bacon or sausage). It was delicious, crispy bacon, fluffy and soft French toast, fresh scrambled eggs and flavorful chorizo and beans plate. It was all good. We'll come back next Sunday and try this place a second time! Also, our phones had "Zero" bars around that area. As soon as I turned into Silverado Canyon from Santiago Canyon Rd, cellphone reception was zero.

We got the Hole in the Wall Burger, Spicy chicken sandwich, and brick fries. They do their own custom blend in the burger so it's perfectly and deliciously fatty. The chicken sandwich was juicy and the cut was thick. The fries are cross cut tempura battered, and the brick style includes the mom's special sauce, grilled onions, and cheese. If you look at the menu from years past, you'll see that the price has only changed by $1 in the past 5 or 6 years. It's very impressive that they can keep the prices low so the average joe isn't priced out of a humble burger joint. Much respect to the family that owns this place. What really takes it over the top though is their house sauce, often called the Hole in the Wall sauce. It is next level. Bold, savory, and way more interesting than your standard burger sauce. Do yourself a favor and order an extra side because dipping the fries in it is non negotiable. My mom went with the spicy chicken sandwich and it was great. The spice level is totally manageable, flavorful without being overpowering. If you like a little more heat, grabbing a side of peppers is the move. It adds that extra kick without drowning out the sandwich. On top of the food, this place really shines because of the people. It is family owned and you can feel it. Everyone is genuinely friendly and excited to serve you, which makes the experience even better. The restaurant itself is clean, quiet, and comfortable with good vibes all around. I wanted to share some comprehensive feedback regarding a recent experience, aiming to highlight both your successes and areas where further refinement could elevate the customer journey even further. First and foremost, I must commend your team for their exceptional warmth and hospitality. From my initial phone call to the moment I picked up my order, I felt genuinely welcomed and valued. This level of customer service, which often feels lacking in many establishments today, truly sets American Grub apart. It creates a welcoming atmosphere that significantly enhances the overall experience, and I sincerely hope this commitment to friendliness remains a cornerstone of your operation. However, I encountered a couple of points that, in my personal opinion, warrant consideration for improvement. Regarding the payment process, I felt a degree of apprehension about providing my credit card details over the phone. While I understand the operational need to secure orders and prevent potential losses, particularly for larger transactions, for a single item like my bacon cheeseburger, priced at $17.24 including tax, this practice felt somewhat disproportionate. I also noted the 99-cent fee for online payments, which, while minor, might deter some customers who are seeking convenience without additional charges. Perhaps exploring alternative secure payment links for phone orders or adjusting the fee structure for smaller transactions could enhance customer comfort and streamline the process. My primary concern, however, arose upon returning home. Despite ordering a bacon cheeseburger, I discovered the burger completely lacked bacon, as well as any form of sauce or mayonnaise. This oversight had a significant impact on the meal; the absence of these core components rendered the burger quite bland and far from the experience I had anticipated. When ordering a single item, the expectation for meticulous attention to detail is particularly high, as there are fewer variables. Consequently, the overall value of the meal, given the missing ingredients, was not quite met on this occasion. I did reach out to the owner privately via email to discuss these points, and I appreciate their responsiveness and transparency in addressing my feedback, particularly concerning the rationale behind the phone payment policy. It is reassuring to know that your business is open to customer input. My hope is that these observations can serve as constructive input, allowing American Grub to continue refining its excellent service and product quality. I remain a supporter of your local endeavor and look forward to seeing these aspects addressed. Thank you for reaching out. To clarify, all my reviews and communications are crafted solely from my personal experiences and genuine perspectives, not AI. Every word and insight you read is authentically mine, driven by my commitment to provide honest feedback. Even though the review was long..(lol) I wanted to make sure the details are accurate and understandable. Plus I think you and your establishment are great and I wanted to detail that as well Kimberly.

From the moment we walked in, it felt warm, welcoming, and full of charm. We had the pleasure of meeting Deanna, who--along with her husband--owns the market, and you can truly feel the heart they've poured into it. I had the best chai latte here, along with a fantastic pastrami sandwich and The Goombah--every bite was incredible. You can immediately tell the food is high-quality and absolutely made with love. As new parents out and about with a baby, the kindness and genuine hospitality made the experience even more special. This is truly a hidden gem. Beware--once you come here, it will instantaneously become one of your favorite places!

I've been here twice. I absolutely think the place is a hidden gem and would love to stop by more…read moreoften however both times Ive stopped in I haven't felt extremely welcomed, let me explain. Once I dropped in with my nephews (3 and 7 at the time) for lunch and enjoyed it however we had an odd experience where one of them wanted a sandwich dry (meaning no condiments) and we were told by the waitress that no alterations were allowed on the menu. That was a year or so ago. Moving on I thought it was strange but didnt think too much of it other than them not liking kids. Yesterday I stopped in solo after a 30 mile canyon ride and asked for a IVL (Latte) to go (in there small defense they did ask if I wanted for there or to go). They made it quickly which was great. It was maybe 9am and there were maybe 3 tables seated in their side outdoor space with maybe 6 cars in the lot, it was not packed at all. I went to walk thru the door to the side outdoor seating just to look around and maybe sit for 5 minutes and was told I wasnt allowed back there as they're 'full service'. My assumption was that meant they wanted to keep the tables open for people who eat there which is fine. So I said no worries and explained I just wanted to look around instead of sit and then was told yet again I couldn't even go through the door nor sit indoors. I was told my only option was to take my coffee out front. It really felt as if I wasnt welcome there at all. It was a very odd experince to be honest. I've worked in customer service for over 20 years myself and all that they had to say to me was 'you can look around and sit for 5 minutes or until we start to get busy'. Instead whoever trains the staff here seems to train that of it's to go then people arent welcome to stay even for 5 minutes. As for the drink itself. Instead of making a latte with an expresso shot it was simply milk with brewed coffee sat atop (very bitter at that). Which was really odd as I could see they had a full expresso machine setup. Not sure if it was intentionally made bad but once again it felt as if I wasnt welcome there. *Updating below in response to the owner/managers response* 1. Regarding the latte with brewed pour over on top I didn't get that information from anyone. That WAS the drink I was served. Ive had maybe 5000 lattes in my life time from about 500 different cafes. Maybe someone pulled a really bad (over extracted shot) but it was 100% like a pour over on top of milk. 2. I never tried to use the emergency side exit/gate. I tried to use the adjoining door way. 3. I completely get the outside is reserved seating only now. That could have been explained friendlier on the spot. The approach of the situation could have been a sure you can take a look but cant sit. Simple. 4. When I went with my nephews it wasnt a question of not having a kids menu it was not allowing the slightest of alterations (no condiments) for kids who are typically picky at a certain age. 5. Ill agree maybe its just not a good alignment.
