Brought the bikes in on a late August 2026 afternoon and they were both ready the next day. Evan is an honest and straightforward proprietor who definitely knows his craft. His fees are comparable to other bike shops but I will have no hesitation to bring my bike needs back to Momentum whenever I'm in the Oxnard and Port Hueneme area.

When we drove by we saw the sign that notified customers that there is parking in the back, so we did. When we walked into the store there was no one to greet us. My husband took my youngest son to use the bathroom at another establishment. I have no idea if this store has a bathroom because there was no one there to ask. My oldest son stayed with me. I looked at bathing suits for about 3 minutes. After I was done looking I heard a man ask if I needed help. I told him that I was looking for a bathing suit but I did not find anything I liked. He then told me that if I wasn't going to buy anything that I needed to leave his store. I was perplexed because the reason why I was in the store was to possibly buy something. I told him this and his reply was the same, if I wasn't going to spend any money that I needed to leave and that I needed to move my car. I told him that the sign in front says that there is parking in the back to which he said again that I needed to move my car. I told him that I would gather my family and leave his establishment. I am black, so my initial instinct told me that this guy is racist. I began to get really upset but throughout the day I second guessed my instincts. I kind of told myself that this guy is just a miserable jerk. When we arrived home I checked in with my oldest son so we could discuss what happened at the store. My son said that the guy at the store said something under his breath as he passed him. The guy said "What are these type of people doing here?". My heart just sank. My instincts were right. I called the store today to speak to the manager or owner. Turns out the guy who kicked me and my son out of the store is unfortunately the owner. He said that he thought I was going to go across the street to have breakfast for a couple of hours. If I was going to have breakfast across the street, wouldn't I be across the street having breakfast? I was in his store for several minutes looking at bathing suits. My oldest son was also looking around the store for something to buy. This experience has left me really sad and hurt. He said my son is lying about what he said under his breath as he passed him. Mr. Artie Anderson (the owner) said he isn't a racist but I implore him to stop acting like one. Before you kick someone out of your store, I suggest you ask before jumping to false conclusions.

He was looking me up and down and it felt he was already assessing my level of ability based on size. When we told Tony we were looking for boards he suggested soft top boards. Not a problem but we told him we had been learning on glass boards and preferred looking at those. He then proceeded to say "Oh! So you're popping up and riding waves? Wow. Not to sound like I'm better than you but most people who learn from non professionals are already doing 5/6 things wrong..." I then immediately walked out. As it turns out, all of the harbor seals, and sealions have names. We befriended one named Steve, he is much better at swimming than I am. He also taught me secret techniques to paddling. This one Pelican named Parry got into a barking match with some sealions, which is a fight he wasn't gonna win, let's be honest. Though I was hoping to see an M-A-N-A-T-E-E ... next time! If you're gonna go down on Haley street, where the dogs are easy and the sun is cheap, you never know just who you'll meet, on Haley. (But hopefully it's Rachel from the Santa Barbara Adventure Company, and you get her kayak tour; shout out!)

We had a fun ferry ride to the islands and even got to slow down to watch a large Sunfish (Mola Mola) snacking on some jellies. I recommend getting in line early to secure the best view seating on the ferry. Our kayak guides, Chuck and Adam, were exceptional--knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They made the entire trip both fun and informative, while ensuring we always felt safe and well cared for. We were fortunate to have perfect weather and warm water, which allowed us to explore all seven sea caves--many of which are inaccessible during high tide or rougher conditions. It made the experience even more special. Having lived in Santa Barbara for 22 years, this was my first time visiting the islands, and it was truly unforgettable. The pristine landscapes, abundant sea life, and even spotting several tiny island foxes while enjoying our picnic lunch, made it an unforgettable adventure. roberts surfboards has been shaping top quality, high performance surfboards for about a decade…read more the results are boards that are every bit as good as more-recognizable brands of surfboards yet cost up to 20% less. and unlike big name surf brands (see: rusty, merrick, jc) each stick is finished by the guy who's name is on the brand, NOT an apprentice or an automated machine. a huge plus is the fact that roberts will take custom orders. give em a shout and tell them the dimensions you want and you'll have a made-to-order, one-of-a-kind shred sled. roberts has also recently started making boards using expanded polystyrene cores (eps) that is a lighter, stronger material that has fewer environmentally harmful waste products. now if only he'll hurry up and finish shaping mine!!

I got a Floaty model (extra floaty) and it rides exactly and even better than what i had imagined. Robert dialed me in to a T and is a master shaper, the whole experience was great and better than i hoped for, from walking in, to talking shop, to deciding on what to get, going over little special custom features to help dial it in the way i wanted, to pickup was just stellar and smooth as silk. Very easy going, classy and wonderful experience. There is a lot of love in his boards and i now finally understand the difference between a custom board made by hand with love vs a pre-cut pop out that just gets sanded and put on the rack for sale, wow what a difference this makes, i surfed better the very first time i took it out it feels like theres a magic carpet under my feet and i may keep it in my bed at night with me to cuddle it i love it so much! Highly recommend going this route for your board even if you are a beginner Robert has models for everyone and a small section of used boards too. I wish i had more legs to use more surfboards on so i could do it again and get 3 more, ill be back!!
