He was looking me up and down and it felt he was already assessing my level of ability based on size. When we told Tony we were looking for boards he suggested soft top boards. Not a problem but we told him we had been learning on glass boards and preferred looking at those. He then proceeded to say "Oh! So you're popping up and riding waves? Wow. Not to sound like I'm better than you but most people who learn from non professionals are already doing 5/6 things wrong..." I then immediately walked out. Tony was extremely disrespectful and made my husband and I both uncomfortable. Do not recommend coming in at all. Highly would suggest not coming in if you are a woman of any larger build. As it turns out, all of the harbor seals, and sealions have names. We befriended one named Steve, he is much better at swimming than I am. He also taught me secret techniques to paddling. This one Pelican named Parry got into a barking match with some sealions, which is a fight he wasn't gonna win, let's be honest. Though I was hoping to see an M-A-N-A-T-E-E ... next time! If you're gonna go down on Haley street, where the dogs are easy and the sun is cheap, you never know just who you'll meet, on Haley. (But hopefully it's Rachel from the Santa Barbara Adventure Company, and you get her kayak tour; shout out!)

We had a fun ferry ride to the islands and even got to slow down to watch a large Sunfish (Mola Mola) snacking on some jellies. I recommend getting in line early to secure the best view seating on the ferry. Our kayak guides, Chuck and Adam, were exceptional--knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They made the entire trip both fun and informative, while ensuring we always felt safe and well cared for. We were fortunate to have perfect weather and warm water, which allowed us to explore all seven sea caves--many of which are inaccessible during high tide or rougher conditions. It made the experience even more special. Having lived in Santa Barbara for 22 years, this was my first time visiting the islands, and it was truly unforgettable. The pristine landscapes, abundant sea life, and even spotting several tiny island foxes while enjoying our picnic lunch, made it an unforgettable adventure. We can't wait to do it again--highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique and exceptional experience!

First and foremost, the owner Rodrigo Cardenas is one of the most accommodating people I have ever dealt with. He is kind and reassuring. He made sure both my grandchildren got in the same camp. Now let's talk About the manager, Kyle.. Kyle is one of the most attentive, passionate, Supervisor, oginized people I have observed. He loves the kids and puts thier safty first. Both Kyle and All the surf coaches are constantly reminding the kids to hydrate, rest and re-apply sunscreen....They work together as a team, to not only teach each camper learns how to surf, but how to encourage others..to surf, have fun, and be safe. I wish I could remember the name of all the coaches. But I'm 62 and my memory fails me. But I have to say Nate does stand out. While all the coaches are extremely encouraging with the kids and are very professional. And it is obvious that they care for the campers, I can tell that coaching is Nate's passion. He has an amazing lifestyle. He coaches surfing all summer and snowboarding in the winter. And never sell any of the female coaches short., They are amazing women. I feel a bit embarrassed that I can't remember all of their names.. It is not because they didn't leave an impression on me, it is simply my memory.. Every single one of them, all the male coaches and female coaches are amazing people.. It is very hard to impress me when it comes to how people treat one another. And especially when it comes to how people treat children. But every one of these people left a deep impression.. My grandchildren felt cared for as well as they felt like they were really taught something. Truthfully my granddaughter everything athletic comes super easy to her. My grandson, on the other hand., It's very intelligent. But anything athletic comes with a bit of a challenge for him.. But believe me, they taught him how to surf. The look on his face when he finally conquered the waves was A look I will never forget.. I thank God for this camp. I really believe it was a divine appointment when I called Rodrigo. God is so good.. I really believe this was The perfect camp for my grandchildren..

roberts surfboards has been shaping top quality, high performance surfboards for about a decade…read more the results are boards that are every bit as good as more-recognizable brands of surfboards yet cost up to 20% less. and unlike big name surf brands (see: rusty, merrick, jc) each stick is finished by the guy who's name is on the brand, NOT an apprentice or an automated machine. a huge plus is the fact that roberts will take custom orders. give em a shout and tell them the dimensions you want and you'll have a made-to-order, one-of-a-kind shred sled. roberts has also recently started making boards using expanded polystyrene cores (eps) that is a lighter, stronger material that has fewer environmentally harmful waste products. now if only he'll hurry up and finish shaping mine!!

I got a Floaty model (extra floaty) and it rides exactly and even better than what i had imagined. Robert dialed me in to a T and is a master shaper, the whole experience was great and better than i hoped for, from walking in, to talking shop, to deciding on what to get, going over little special custom features to help dial it in the way i wanted, to pickup was just stellar and smooth as silk. Very easy going, classy and wonderful experience. There is a lot of love in his boards and i now finally understand the difference between a custom board made by hand with love vs a pre-cut pop out that just gets sanded and put on the rack for sale, wow what a difference this makes, i surfed better the very first time i took it out it feels like theres a magic carpet under my feet and i may keep it in my bed at night with me to cuddle it i love it so much! Highly recommend going this route for your board even if you are a beginner Robert has models for everyone and a small section of used boards too. I wish i had more legs to use more surfboards on so i could do it again and get 3 more, ill be back!!
