I ask a mechanic a lot of questions and I make sure that what is done to them is appropriate. Kevin at Hondacure puts my mind at rest. These guys seem to genuinely like and appreciate Hondas and I think they even possibly understand my addiction. They own Preludes themselves and you gotta love that. These cars are just a bit finicky and I don't trust them to just anyone. My cars have been seeing them for at least three years and I have very happy with the results. I found them when my 2001 needed a timing belt and I was shopping around for a good Honda specialist because my previous experiences in Austin were not good. I wasn't happy with the dealership and another Honda place that shall remain nameless who ripped me off. (Initials are RS). Kevin at Hondacure, however, said all the right things and then quoted me a price substantially less than the dealership. They did a great job on the timing belt and everything that goes with that and I have kept going back with no regrets. They also fixed up my ailing '90 Si, that I have owned since about 1994 and even cleaned my engine last time I was there and ran it through the car wash. It runs like a top now. I love that car more than chocolate. So -- if you have a Honda, or any other import for that matter ( I think they also work on a lot of Toyotas and Mazdas), go to Hondacure. Tell them the crazy lady with the Preludes sent you. : )

More 1 Jeannie Matthews 10 reviews 4 hours ago New Horrible and weird experience. John was referred to me by a neighbor. I had my car towed to his shop on July 8th to have warranty work done and possible out of warranty work. I reached out to him a couple of times in the week of July 8th. And John was always rushing me off the phone and being evasive as to when he would get around to my car. I contacted John on Monday of this week July 14th inwhich he stated to me that he had told me he was behind on jobs and was backed up. I told him he actually did not mentioned that fact to me until a few days after having my car towed to his shop. John then stated to me I could take my vehicle somewhere else. But he would call .e ba k in a few minutes. He never did. So today Tuesday on July 15th I had a tow truck driver go to pick up my van. Amberger gave the tow truck driver a hard time and stated I owed money. Which was a blatant lie! I called to see why he was stating I owed him money and he had done absolutely nothing to the vehicle. He attempted to fraudulently get $125 to release my van. I tried to speak with him but he was not making any sense, became insulting and started talking about my soul and such. It was really off the top. I told him I was coming to get my van and I was going to ask the Police to be there which I did and the Police were coming. When I pulled up with a neighbor. I was able to take my van, which I drove home because the tow truck driver had left. John is a horrible person, you can't be a good person when it is suitable to be.

Stopped by the oil well yesterday to have my car looked at before I sold it to another couple…read more After waiting for about 45 minutes for the guy to even start looking at the car (I had an appointment that he completely forgot about), he took about another 45 minutes to check it out. He comes in after looking at the car and proceeds to tell the couple who was going to buy my car that the vehicle has some serious issues. One of his major concerns? The wiper on the back window needed to be replaced. He also mentioned that there were problems with the brakes, shocks and that the car would shake uncontrollably when applying the brakes after getting it up to 60 MPH on the highway. The prospective buyer and I took it for a ride after his crazy rant and none of the issues happened that he described, especially the shaking. He also mentioned that the tires (which I had purchased 10 months beforehand) were dangerously low on tread. I smelled a scam from the start and took the car to a mechanic by my house right after I left the "Oil Well". The mechanic there looked it over for 20 minutes and told me he found no issues with the brakes or the tires. He said that the shocks MIGHT need to be replaced in 20 or 30k miles but that all shocks are worn and these were no worse than most cars. I had a feeling that the owner of the Oil Well was trying to come up with an expensive list of issues to get the potential buyers to spend $1500 to fix the car when it wasn't even needed. Thanks to the scam, I now know that there is nothing wrong with my car that you wouldn't normally see on an 8 year old vehicle. If you've ever worried about being ripped off by a mechanic, stay far

I recently took my 2001 Buick to The Oil Well for repairs to two of my automatic windows. From…read moreprevious replacements, I was expecting - no, make that "I was dreading" - the repair costs to be around $450/window. At least that was what I had been charged previously by another mechanic company who was not as gentle as the name of their company would indicate. Frantic for a way to save on the cost, I asked Carl if he could "stake shut" my windows or use cut-cost components. Thankfully, he explained to me that those were probably not the best solutions; used components would likely soon fail, and even to stake shut the windows would cost in labor more than I was hoping to spend. He asked if I could give him time to come up with a quote, and he called me back with a price that was - after tax and a State Inspection - less than half of what I had expected to pay for the work! Not only was the work done inexpensively, it was done well. Instead of the hobo hillbilly fix that I had initially suggested, I have functioning power windows, professionally maintained. The mechanic even gave me tips as to why the windows likely failed and how to keep it from happening in the future. Definitely will return.

I went and told them my ac was not coming on and my engine light was on and to check if I had a lose belt because of the sound the engine made. Approx $400 incl labor. pressed him on which parts he didn't go into detail other than one was the fuel cap. He asked if I wanted to fix it. I said I didn't expect that price seemed extreme and I'd have to pick it up and think about It. Which was NEVER discussed at any point until that call. Choosing between paying his estimate charge + taking or elsewhere to fix. I bit the bullet. AC is fixed but the engine noise remains.
