Head trainer and owner, Tanya, is big on building strong foundations and has an excellent reputation for starting young horses or retraining difficult ones. She's also the head coach for Transylvania University's head eventing team, which is based at the farm. There's an indoor plus outdoor arena, a cross country field, and plenty of room in surrounding farmland to hack out or do interval training. Tanya especially, along with the farm and stable managers are big on barn and horse safety - this is the kind of place where you will find no sharp corners or edges, breakaway hooks on every cross tie and rope, everything up to code, well-maintained paddocks and fencing, no dogs allowed, etc. If someone is doing something that's not leading to the optimum safety and protection of their and others horses, they'll be told so. The stalls, wash rack, tack room, and aisle are kept very clean. Quality is valued in every lesson beginner to advanced, and in horse care. Stall-care horses are fed twice per day, with pasture-care horses brought in by staff for daily feedings for a reasonable added fee as needed. 12 stall barn, 5 big pastures, and smaller paddocks for overflow/quarantine horses. They throw good hay in the winter and provide up to 2 scoops per day of high quality Hallway feeds grain for pasture horses, included in the price of board. I learned so much about the horses life after the track and how breeding works. We did the tour of the stallions, they also offer a tour of the baby's and mamas. It just depends on which you want to do because they are about a hour long. Be prepared to walk and for the unpredictable weather as parts are outside. It was so cool, we met freight line and he let us pet him. The staff was so sweet and knowledgeable and had brochures for us to take home which was so cool! I think any horse enthusiasts or even if you just want to enjoy and be a tourist in your state this would be amazing.

One was a party day party that hosted about 100 people, there was a dance floor area and a DJ, the host hired the DJ, but you get the point. Another event that I've attend here was in the auditorium like area that I think at one time was where horse sales were. It reminded me of a big movie theatre. The seats were like from the 60s but weren't used often, so they weren't as it may sound. Another time, was when I attended a wedding reception. It was held in the back part. The floors were concrete and it was freezing. Between the outdated decor and the lack of heat, I'd still say if you're looking for a place to host a party, check this place out.

I called Nancy at Brannon Stables and she was amazing. She took some time to understand what I was looking for before I made the drive to try out my first lesson. I arrived and and it was a great fit. She was patient, easy going and very good about correcting me (and understanding this was my first time on a horse). I started 4 weeks ago (from 0 experience) and today I can put the (english or western saddle on), start, trot, canter, turn (and most importantly stop). I highly recommend her.

It is foaling season now so there are many darling babies, with their wobbly little legs, coming into this world nearly everyday until around late May or so. They are closely protected by their mamas and monitored by the farm staff around the clock. You can't deny that God exists when you are witness to such perfection; and to boot, one of these hopefuls could be future KY Derby, Breeders, OR Triple Crown winners. I started riding with Mark a few weeks ago after a bad accident on my personal horse at another…read morebarn left me sidelined by injury for a year and a half. I sold my horse, hung up my spurs, and didn't want to ride anymore. Somehow I found my way to Mark when I decided to give it another try and he is just amazing. By the third ride, I was feeling happy and comfortable and reminded of my passion for horses. Mark is so calm, reassuring, wise, and experienced. He immediately identified some basic problems that were holding me back as a rider and gave me usable guidance to correct them. I can feel the difference already and I'm having fun again. The horses are all extremely well trained and taken care of, and all of the barn folks are friendly and welcoming. Footing is good, stalls are bright and cheery, and the horses are happy. She had developed a lot of bad habits with her instructors in Texas and he worked hard with her to undo those habits, really helping her improve. He really pushed her, sometimes spending entire lessons on foundational drills that helped her with her form. Each class was a master class in riding. Nobody here even comes close to his talent. He also runs a 1st-class barn. The horses are well cared for and the facilities are always clean. He really cares about the health of the horses and has the highest standards. The lesson horses far exceed any we've seen at the other barns where my daughter has ridden over the years. And because of this, he has attracted a community of passionate riders that is welcoming. We wish we could take him back with us to Austin!
