We arrived from the airport very late and my mother in law was already asleep, so we laid our 9-month old to sleep. He couldn't sleep well so after a few hours we picked him up and he reeked of smoke. We inspected the mattress the next morning and discovered how filthy it was ourselves and it still reeked of smoke despite all her attempts to clean it. It smells and looks like it's stored in a garage where chain smokers work on cars. We went out and bought a new mattress which is not the point of baby gear rental. We have called the company two days in a row now to discuss this, and even though the automatic message says they'll call back in 2 hours, we have yet to receive a call or any response to address this issue. In a few words, this company gave us a mattress that is extremely hazardous and dangerous to the health of our 9-month old. I will also be reporting this company to the proper authorities so no other infant is put it such a dangerous situation.

He greeted us when we arrived and was incredibly patient, kind, and knowledgeable. He took the time to help us configure the furniture in different layouts so my in-laws could better visualize how it would look in their home. He never rushed us and made the shopping experience enjoyable. His customer service was truly 10/10. Unfortunately, another employee, an older woman with short red hair, left us with a very negative impression. She made inappropriate jokes in front of my in-laws, and she falsely accused my children of damaging furniture when nothing had been broken. My children were simply trying out the furniture, just as many customers do, and they were under my supervision the entire time. Her comments were unnecessary, unprofessional, and made our family feel uncomfortable. It's one thing to politely remind customers of store policies, but it's another to make false accusations and embarrass families in front of others. I hope the store or regional manager takes this feedback seriously. While James provided exceptional service, this employee's behavior was disappointing and detracted from what otherwise could have been a great shopping experience. I hope she receives additional customer service training so future customers are treated with kindness and respect.

The Naturepedic mattresses are more customizable than I thought and the manager switched out the layers as many times as necessary to determine the right comfort for me. You can do your own research on the quality of the company and the standards they adhere to - they're organic and the mattresses are made in Ohio. I bought a crib size mattress and waterproof sheet from them 5 years ago and both are going strong so I knew the quality would be high. I'm a cheapskate in most areas of my life but we spend a third (if we're lucky) of our life sleeping. The quality of our sleep affects our health and mood, so it's worth it to me to ensure my mattress is comfortable and made of non-toxic materials.

On one half of the bed I got medium and soft, and on the other half, I got soft and soft. I prefer soft beds but even the soft/soft layered side is a little too firm for my taste. I never did get used to it and I've had it for nearly a year at this point. The part that makes me regret choosing this particular mattress is that it's impossible to get the layers to sit just right. They need to be snug and it's hard to get them not to slope. It's like a two layer cake where the layers never quite line up just right. I love that the materials are eco friendly and honestly I would consider a different mattress from the same store, just not one with layers that shift so easily. I think I paid around $4,000 for this mattress, but they sell a traditional spring mattress for half that price and I wish I had gone with that one instead (and then maybe bought a topper for softness).
