It was my dear friend Marsha's birthday, and I wanted to give her fresh flowers. Not any fresh…read moreflowers, the arrangement had to be very special, unique in its design, and I needed the flowers within an hour so I could personally deliver them to her ( I could have used their delivery service, but I opted to do so myself). You see, Marsha really knows her flowers, and in a former life, had fresh flowers arranged by a local florist and delivered to her home, weekly.
I had received arrangements as gifts from Les Fleurs, and they were, quite gorgeous. I'm sort of a flower snob, usually have fresh flowers at home (purchased at Trader Joes or Whole Foods), and often gift flowers to people on special occasions (purchased on-line), and have a good sense of what a $75 or $150 arrangement should look like. So when I opted for Les Fleurs, I was prepared to spend around $150. Yes, I know that's a lot of money, but like I said, it was for a dear friend, and hey, one dinner at a local restaurant, for myself and husband, with a bottle of wine, costs that much after the tip.
This shop is owned by two guys, I believe from Brazil, and has been in the same location for a long time. So if you want to give your business to a "pop and pop" shop, you've found it!
Note, Les Fleurs has a huge collection of silk flowers and hundreds of vases. I'm not really into silk flowers, but if you are looking fro them for yourself or as a gift, this place should be checked out. I've heard others speak of the wonderful selection they have on their premises.
When I walked into the shop, I asked for the designer, as I had called in advance to ask if they could put my order together within an hour, and was told yes, if I arrived before a certain time. I was on a mission, wanted to see what fresh flowers they had in their cooler cases, and be engaged in the selection. After meeting and talking with designer Jeffrey, I decided to give him artistic license to put together the arrangement, and only instructed him about a few flowers I didn't really want included. We agreed on a price ($125.00), after he suggested that I could get more bang for my buck.
By the way, I brought my own vase, and he had no problem using it for the arrangement. When I returned after an hour to pick up the arrangement, I really was wowed by it. And when I presented it to Marsha, she was, as well.
So, unlike some of the other reviewers, I was pleased and impressed with the aesthetics of the design, the service, and for the size of the arrangement, I thought the price was fair. If you are looking for a bargain in a custom designed floral arrangement, this is not the shop to frequent. But if you want something really classy and special, go here with confidence.
Note, if there are specific flowers you want in an arrangement, you need to call and they will special order the flowers. As an example, I wanted Birds of Paradise in my arrangement, but those were not in their cooler, but could have been special ordered with appropriate notice.
Parking is easy, they have their own private lot.
