We love, love, love Rockaway Beach, Oregon No, it's not because of Pronto Pup. We'll, for me, Pronto Pup is more of an obsession than a cool place. It's borderline addi..... you know what! "Don't worry about me." I digress. We like Silver Sands Motel. For one, we can afford it. 2. The view. Good golly He does good work. It's nice to be able to walk to the ocean from your room. It's the main draw for us. We've ironically gotten the same room both times we stayed here. If you get a bottom room, bring a window lock of your own so you can sleep with the window cracked open. Nothing like ocean sounds to help you sleep like a baby. Maybe some day we'll stay on the second floor. I hear the view is even better but no balcony to sit on. The rooms could use a little update but that would also mean an increase in consumer costs. I never go anywhere because of the hotel room. It's always about what's outside of this place. Silver Sands is still nice. It's not shabby by any measue. Besides, all the cool stuff in Rockaway Beach isn't in your hotel room, no matter how much you paid. read more

I did not enjoy my stay at this hotel. I realize that a beachfront hotel with ocean views for $200 a night is a good find, especially when they only charge an additional $15 pet fee per night. If all you need is a reasonably priced stay, then by all means, this hotel may suit you just fine. Unfortunately the main reason I booked this hotel was because we came to the beach to get out of the sweltering heat wave that's happening and after a long day I just wanted to cool off. Once we checked in we realized they have no AC in the rooms here. It was sweltering. We sat there sweating for the first hour before I decided to take a shower to try and cool off. There were also bugs everywhere in the room. Like, a lot of bugs, dozens. When I walked into the bathroom, I found more bugs and a strange burn on the counter top. I also found hair in the tub so I pushed back the curtain and washed it out myself and as I was getting undressed to get in, just to feel some cool water on my body, a man walked down the stairs outside and said "oh shit!" I looked and he could see down into the bathroom through the window. It was horrifying. Then, while showering asked husband why he hung a dirty washcloth over the shower rod and what it was from. He came in to ask what I was talking about and when I showed it to him, he said he had not been in the bathroom yet. It was dry and obviously left from the last person, with brown and yellow spots on it. I was so disgusted, I literally threw up. Later, I tried to enjoy the ocean views and breeze in between killing bugs but the smoke from the bonfires was so strong that we could not keep our windows open. Our room filled with smoke smell and we had to try and open the front door to get it out. Wen went out to our car and brought in two small portable fans we had because there was no ac or fan in the room to try and get the smell out but it was to no avail and since I could not sleep, I can confirm that there were still people with bonfires lit on the beach at 2 a.m. Even when we checked out in the morning you could still smell the smoke so if you want the fresh ocean breeze, visit another beach. Speaking of check out, it is at 11 am here. Usually we like to sleep in and enjoy the room but by 8, I was dressed and ready to go. Unfortunately my husband was a bit slower and at 9:50 am the housekeeper entered our room without even knocking. She stepped inside and said "Oh, sorry." Luckily we were dressed and our dog was asleep but that is utterly wrong and intrusive. What if we had been undressed? Not to mention that its not a very smart thing to do with dog friendly rooms. Not all the dogs are tiny cuties like ours. And while I am on the subject of dogs, there were two women in room just down from us who kept letting their two dogs (brown dachshund and grey greyhound) out off leash; they were barking and defecating all over. At one point one of their dogs came up to our glass door and started barking at our dog inside our room. It was ridiculous. We had out door and window shut from the smoke but it still upset our pup. They were bothering other dog rooms as well. These women are why it's so difficult to find dog friendly accommodations. There were other issues as well. Some of the outlets in the room did not work and the internet was so slow I could not even load webpages at times. They have old fashioned keys for the back door and they want to charge you if you don't return it, which makes sense, but they also want to charge you if you don't return the plastic key card for the front door when you check out. There is no pool, no hot tub, no breakfast... Never again. read more

Silver Sands needs new management immediately. The current manager's poor attitude and alleged fraudulent behavior drive away staff, leaving the property with a severe shortage of cleaners. It is disappointing that such a nice location can only rent a few rooms a day due to staffing shortages. Hiring a qualified manager is essential to run this property properly. read more

Don't book this!!! Hotel is gross. The beach access is not worth it. Carpet is so disgusting we had to put on our shoes to walk on it. The entire room smelled of old cigarettes. This place is a bit difficult to distil down to stars. The view from the window is nothing short of spectacular. Right on the beach. Ocean for days. And the walk down to the water is mere minutes. The room itself.... The beds were passable. Not luxurious by any means and at nearly 50 I'm not sure my back and joints could take more than a couple days. The kitchenette, bathroom, everything... fine. No great shakes, but clean enough. Staff seemed friendly and were helpful in advance with questions. Moved us to a ground floor room when I informed them we needed wheelchair accessibility (which the booking software allowed you to select for that, but alas...) Lovely lovely little town. The walls were fine but oh my the ceiling had no soundproofing. We could hear every word and every step if the windows were closed (if they were open open we heard nothing but the waves.) This is a very old not updated dump of a place. It's dirty, spiders and bugs, furniture antiquated old and chipped. No baseboard they just ran the carpet up the wall. No telephone in the rooms. No cellphone chargers anywhere. Tiny soap bars like sandpaper. Bedside lamps with holes. Rust and dirt everywhere. Signs everywhere that you will be charged for this and that. The bathroom sink is open by the front door opposite a bed so no privacy. The front desk closes at 9pm and when open is unmanned as they stay in a side room and let you wait for service until they are ready to come out from the adjoining room. They make you feel that any even the smallest request is a big burden on them. There is no pool or spa. The beach is covered in logs and rock piles which end up as campfires at night. The only thing about this place that gets it 3-10 stars is that it is on a ( dirty messy) beachfront. It needs to be knocked down and rebuilt with something worthy of a beachfront motel. Many who come here have never seen the ocean or beach before so they are mesmerized by that sight and don't notice what a dump it is. read more

Best place to stay if you have dogs. It can be difficult to find a place that's halfway decent and affordable. It is in the middle of town so you can walk everywhere. Large picture windows making the sight , sound and smell of the ocean immediately available. Close your eyes and you are a kid back at the beach. read more

I really liked my stay here and will definitely come back. It has a wonderful old-timey feeling. While the decoration/furnishings aren't new, they are comfortable. The view is amazing, the front desk staff helpful and went above and beyond with some scheduling things, the water pressure is strong with abundant hot water, and the whole feeling of being here was very peaceful. The walk to the beach from my room was less than one minute and the vista is grand. I stayed in a room with a kitchenette and all the basics were provided for making my meals in the comfort of my suite. Downside: No elevator, only 1 handicap parking space & parking is barely enough for all the guests. Also, no filters or coffee was provided for the coffee maker in the room. I would have brought some from home if I had known. Also, Matt the clerk argued with me when I asked for ONE roll of toilet paper. He didn't know if he could do that. We were staying for 4 days! SERIOUSLY!!! The next morning 2 lovely ladies in the office gave us TWO rolls. The outside of the motel has not been updated & appears very rundown, but our room was beautiful. Also, due to COVID, the pool is not open. Upsides: Small motel right on the beach and our room had been totally updated although my bed was incredibly uncomfortable; cheap, not very well padded & noisy springs. The beach was right there & we loved being able to leave the windows open all night (felt safe doing that on the second floor). We stayed 6/29 thru 7/2/2020 for $117 per night. Despite a few challenges, we would stay here again. Overall, we had a wonderful time. Rockaway Beach is a great place for families on a budget. It's not a tourist trap like Seaside & Cannon Beach. read more

On the Tuesday of Spring Break my kid announced that we were taking the BFF on an overnight beach trip. I had no idea. First I called my outlaws ( her paternal grandparents) with whom we have a somewhat standing invitation to come see them in Lincoln City. Nope. The family inn was full. Damn. I mean, it is Spring Break. My choices were going to be limited. I scrambled online and came up with one oceanfront room here for one night. It was not cheap but much less than I thought it would be, and happily it had a kitchenette and a pool. Did I mention oceanfront, kitchenette, and pool? The room was not spectacular. It was a bit run down, with the exception of the bathroom which had new flooring and tiling in the tub. The walls were thin. I heard the neighbors doing adult things ( fortunately the kids did not). Our room had a bed in one room with the bath,and a bed in the other with the kitchen and the nice view. That was a nice surprise and gave me some unexpected privacy away from the anime watchers around the time I passed out from exhaustion. But it had fabulous views, the teens loved the pool, we wound up cooking dinner so the kitchen was useful, and it's very close to all the good stuff including the bead store and the main drag. We all agreed we would stay here again. I would just advise some earplugs. P.S. Our room was pet friendly. A dog could come for an extra $5/night as I recall. read more

First off I commend the positivity and professionalism of the woman running the check-in. She was friendly, helpful and overall the reason for two stars instead of one. The view totally amazing (that in itself a total five)! Rockaway is a quaint beautiful coastal beach town. This motel is stuck in the 70's very outdated and overall just not aesthetically desirable. Bed lumpy, decor from 80's and the walls are so paper thin I could hear conversations from every room on every side, and above me. Toilet seat slams are the worse so loud from the other rooms and the perpetual banging from the unit above me at 11:38pm sounds like a new edition is being built whilst trying to sleep. When I arrived I opened the door and was immediately hit with the distinct, disgusting, dirty ashtray scent, wafting all over the room, I opened the patio door and window to try to air the room out but; lo and behold a "Karen" was sitting right next to my patio just puffing in all her glory her stank a@@ cigarette. The property has "NO SMOKING" signs posted on every room and window but it sure didn't stop the 70 yr old benson and hedges from creating a smoke cloud bigger than Hiroshima! I respectfully asked her to smoke away from door so I could keep it open along with the window to enjoy the view/sound as most do that come to the beach. She of course started bitch fest 2022 to her husband that she'd been coming down here for years smoking and no one has ever said anything to her blah, blah, blah!!!! After listening to decrepit Karen go on about how slighted she was; I immediately canceled my second night booking, proceeded to ask the desk clerk if smoking was allowed becz I want no part of Ms. puff the unmagic dragons weekend smoke fest. If noise doesn't bother you, if entitled boomer Karen's don't bother you with their self serving barfness, if old outdated motels don't bother you, then book a room here. Side note; wanted to leave window open all night to listen to the amazing crashing waves but again puff the unmagic Karen dragon may need to run outside to feed her addiction of barfness and don't want the lingering ashtray wafting inside in the midst of my slumber. I myself will surely find "quieter", cleaner, happier, respectful accommodations elsewhere. read more

The Silver Sands Motel sits overlooking the dunes in Rockaway Beach, Oregon. The rooms have a panaramic view of the broad sand beach and the ocean. Many of the rooms on the ground floor have doors that open onto the beach. The lobby is small, with friendly staff and open till 11pm. The rates are very reasonable. There is an indoor pool and hot tub room that is perfect if you want to warm up after wandering the shore. The rooms are clean, good sized with a small fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The bathrooms are large and the sink is outside the bathroom, so you can brush your teeth while your wife showers. Each room also has a table and 2 chairs at the window. Perfect for sitting at and contemplating the waves over a cup of tea. The Silver Sands if a short walk from several nice restaurants and stores in Rockaway Beach. Just about 300 feet down the coast is the Sand Dollar Cafe, with a full bar, good food and live music Friday and Saturday nights. The Silver Sands is a great place to base yourselve and explore the Oregon coast. read more

I would like to start with the good things, on line reservation was easy, the woman at the front desk was friendly. The room was pretty clean, not perfect, but not bad. The bedding was clean and in good condition, as were the towels. Beach access and view can't be beat, but then there was the rest... We reserved a queen, pet friendly room. We aren't tiny people, one 6' 6" and both over 200lbs. The bed wasn't a queen, it was a full. We really needed the extra 6" the queen would have given us. We barely even fit in the damn bed. It only came with 3 very flat pillows, we are glad we brought our own, as the ones provided sucked! Night 1 was poor, but far better than night 2. Night two started with a new arrival to the motel next door to us at about 7pm. They came in and immediately started screaming, swearing and throwing things at each other. Our dogs started barking and were incredibly agitated. This kept up with the male of the two leaving and slamming the door, leaving her to cry and slam around in the room. He came back 20 min later and they started arguing again. The front desk leaves at 9pm for the night, so at about 8:45 I called the desk to see what they could do. They knocked on the door, spoke to the woman and then left. The arguing continued, more banging on the door, he wanted back in and she had been crying, coughing and puking, for a while and wasn't going to let him in. I called the front desk again around 10pm, thinking maybe it rolled to a home phone in case of emergency, but nothing but voicemail. I left a message saying I'd be calling the police if things got any worse. I finally fell asleep around 11:30, she kept crying and making noise all night! Then at about 6:30am, the wind started to whistle through the crack around the back door. We got up, showered and packed up the car. I tried to check out at the desk, the woman had been watching us pack up, but didn't even open up the door for our check out, although it was after the posted open hours. I expect she wasn't interested in chatting about the shit show in the motel. My biggest issue with this is that in a complex with over 20 units, and only 4-5 occupied, there is never a reason to put people right next door to each other. If someone calls to complain, call them back, let them know what resolution there is- but nothing! I know the desk didn't know these folks were trouble, but I heard the conversation. There was no indication that police would be called if it didn't stop, no comment that they'd need to leave if it didn't stop. The desk closes at 9pm, they go home and if there's a problem, you'd better be prepared to solve it yourself. The office staff couldn't give two shits about what happens after they leave. I would not recommend this place if you need to sleep, rest, or relax. If you spent the whole time on the beach and only needed a shower, not a bed- fine. But that's it! read more

Check in was easy. We did have to wait like 15 min for our room to be ready as housekeeping staff was behind and others were getting off work. View was nice. Close to everything and just a min walk to the beach. One bed had a mattress cover and sheet and the other one only had a flat sheet on it. Pros: Great location, easy beach access along a lovely, fairly level, sandy pathway, very close to Twin Rocks, within walking distance of all the downtown shops and restaurants, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was well laid out, the staff were friendly and the view was spectacular. Cons: They only flipped the blanket, they didn't wash it!! There was smegma on one side that I wouldn't have known was there if the blanket hadn't fallen off the bed. Yuck! The pillows were flat (get new pillows!!) The pillow sham and bed cover weren't washed...probably ever. The room had a slight cigarette smell every time I came back to my room, which tells me that they probably haven't washed the carpeting in a very, very long time. I also saw a spot where someone had spilled something, confirming the lack of carpet cleaning. And when I happened to bend down to pick up my hair brush off the bathroom floor, I saw that there was a black mold ring around the upper rim of the toilet. They got rid of the pool/hot tub (which is one of the reasons I booked with them) and it is probably a good thing because I'm not sure it would have been cleaned. Summary: They need to bump up their room cleaning habits, which are sub-standard. But if you don't care about room cleanliness or the old uncomfortable and dirty bed pillows/linens, then the cheap price is reflective of the quality and the beach access/view outweigh the lack of a clean room. read more

We've stayed there a few times now. The first two times were great. The service was good. The rooms were clean. The maid staff was very friendly. No complaints. However our last visit leads me to believe (as others have stated) that this hotel had gone downhill. First off we reserved a ground level room. I even called to confirm it and was told yes it was a ground level room. We originally wanted just a regular two queens basic room, but I was told there were none on the ground floor available, so we paid and extra $20 for the kitchenette unit....just so we could have a ground floor room. We arrive at the hotel only to find out there are NO ground level rooms available and we are in fact in an upstairs unit. The lady who checked us in asked if we still wanted to stay there. Knowing there were no other available room in town, we took the room but cut our stay short from two nights to one. She did refund my 2nd night although I had to call the next day when I got home because she didn't refund the pet fee. Strike one. We check into the room and it appeared to be clean but very dated. It's not fancy nor do I expect it to be at the beach. BUT the room needs some TLC. Our bedspread had a hole in it. The walls need to be wiped down. What I thought was tiny holes in the wall was actually dirt. The floor boards were dirty and there was a good pile up of sand all along the side of the floor where it meets the wall. Now I get at the beach you can't ever get rid of all the sand in a room, but a vacuum cleaner with a hose attachment run along the floor where it meet the wall would go a long way to help this issue. The furniture is old and needs to be replaced. Our tall dresser which doubled as our TV stand, was worn and chipped in places. The nightstand and kitchen table were chipped as well. Our queen beds were uncomfortable. The bathroom was very clean. Strike Two. The indoor pool is great. It's warmer than most hotel pools. Very comfortable for longs swims with the kids. It's a salt water pool which is better for the environment and people since it uses less chlorine to keep it clean. On the first day we swam, it was a little overly salty. I told the front desk about it and they must have fixed it. The next day it wasn't as salty. The hot tub is HOT! Very hot. Not sure what the temp was but it was way hotter than other hotels we've stayed out. I didn't see it get used much when we were there...most likely due to temperature. They also have a nice sized sauna. The view from our room was breath taking. Love being right on the beach, watching the sunset. They allow pets, up to two dogs per room. All that is required is that they be on a leash on the property and never be left alone unattended on the property. $10 per dog, per night. The walls are pretty thin so we did hear the people next to us and even below us which I found strange. We heard showers running, doors slamming. Silver Sands is right in town, within close walking distance to shops and restaurants. For the price they charge for room, and in the summer time are pretty full, I would expect better rooms and friendlier service. They are more expensive than many other hotels in Rockaway Beach. You are paying for being right on the beach and having an awesome view. read more

Beds were SUPER COMFY and room was clean! Couldn't hear any noise from neighboring rooms even though it was sold out! Did not have room with kitchenette so can't speak to those. Great budget motel; no frills but all the basics amenities one would expect in a hotel. Coffee/tea/creamer for the 12-cup coffee maker, hairdryer, and toiletries. That's right, a BIG pot of coffee or hot water, perfect for cooking ramen or instant oatmeal on your budget trip to the beach. Right on the beach for beautiful, unobstructed views and screens in the windows so you can listen to the ocean without insects. Close to town that you don't need to leave your alotted parking spot. Water pressure in the shower was poor but the shower head was a rain type, so if you like the gentle rain type shower, it's perfect. Good sized mini-fridge in the double queen room we had with plenty of space for any leftovers or sandwich fixings. It was inside a cabinet and the doors were opposing, but still functional. Beds were spring type and comfortable enough, though the pillows were flat and needed doubling for my preference. If you come expecting a budget motel with just the basics, it's perfectly functional to keep you dry, warm and delighted by the view. read more

BED BUGS!! We took my 76 year old mother for her birthday and did not stay the night! We left at 9:30pm to find another hotel. Filthy ceiling fan with dirt and grime hanging from it, huge spider crawling up the curtains which is why I checked for BED bugs.. I have pictures of it all! We had a reservation for Friday but dealt with delayed flights all day and then no service driving from Portland, so when we finally arrived after midnight the office was closed. We panicked and called every hotel within 30 miles and nobody had vacancies. My sister's wedding was the next day and we were basically planning to sleep in our car until the office opened in the morning. Totally panicked, I rang the emergency bell and thankfully Melissa got OUT OF BED just to come get us checked into our room. That's some amazing service. I was in tears, this woman seriously saved us. And as a bonus this place is right on the beach with spectacular views, and restaurants are across the street so it was just perfect for us. Customer service horrible! We came after 4pm to check in Room was not ready. Front desk said to give them 5min. They just vacuuming and be done. 15min later still waiting. Told her I have cranky kids in the car after over 2 hour drive here. She said sorry we have no other available rooms. As we finally got the key we headed to the room which over 90% of the rooms where empty and doors wide open! We get to our room, first thing we see is bullet on the floor! So the floor that was just vacuumed had bullets and sand on it? The bathroom vanity is broken. I go back down to let them know. The front desk just said, "sorry I don't know what to tell you" I was in shock heading back to my room. But decided to go talk to her again to make sure she puts in notes that it was broken when we got there and prints something so we don't get charged. When I get there another lady is there also, so I proceeded to tell her what has happened. To my surprise she says," oh I heard a loud band and a crack just above my office which is your room." I was like WHAT?!?! Are you telling me a 4 and and 8 year old girls could break a vanity? I asked her to go and look for herself. Finally she agreed and said let me see what I can do! We got moved to different room which was not any better! Old and dingy! Not worth the price! PAY $10 more and don't come here! read more

I'll start with the positives and follow that up with the negatives. The Positives: It's location is probably the best of any place around. It's so close to the beach. There are no steps to have to climb, just a slight incline, but it seems like the incline has increased since my last visit. I love how close to the beach it is and the view from the window is spectacular. The window facing the ocean is wonderfully big; I loved being able to open them to hear the ocean. The lower level has back doors that give direct access to the beach. I like that they give you a key to the back door so you don't have to go clear around to the front of the building in order to get back into your room. They are pet friendly, so make reservations early if you want to get a pet friendly room to bring your furbabies with you. The floors and surfaces were clean, and the sheets and blankets clean, fresh, and comfortable. I really like their pool area; along with the pool, there's a hot tub and a steam room. There are also towels and floaty noodles available. The staff is friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The Negatives: This is an older motel, so it's not pristine. That said, I don't mind older places that are a bit shabby/worn, as long as it's clean. Our room was not as clean as it could be. The wonderfully big windows, I noticed upon arrival to the room, were smudged with oily handprints. There's a nice ceiling fan, but it was filthy and covered in dust, making me leery of turning it on. The toilet paper is cheap one ply. Do they think that's going to make patrons use less? In reality, it makes them use more, as well as being uncomfortable to use. Should we be expected to bring our own toilet paper from home, or go buy it at the store? Yes, the toilet paper provided IS that bad. While I loved the pool, hot tub, and sauna, I noticed there are no designated adult pool time, which would be nice. Most hotels are family oriented; many adults still like to have an hour of peace and quiet sometimes to swim and relax in the hot tub. Even with the negatives, the positives far outnumber them, which is why I'm giving full stars. I'm hoping leadership at the motel will see this and speak with the housekeepers about cleaning the windows and ceiling fans before guests check in, as well as ceasing with the use of cheap and uncomfortable toilet paper. I may have to change the full stars of these issues aren't addressed by my next visit. This the only place I really care to keep coming back to and it's all due to their family and pet friendliness, as well as location, location, location. read more

A word of advice : DON'T DO IT!! This place is a dump. We booked it for a week long vacation. We were looking for a place on the beach. That was truly the ONLY thing that this place had going for it. It does sit on the beach. Otherwise, it was just awful. The property is run down and dirty. The room was tiny and filthy. It obviously had not seen a vacuum in a very long time. The corners were filled with cobwebs and dirt, ceiling and floor. The bed was sagging. The bedding was probably 20 years old and threadbare. There were 2 pancake flat pillows on the bed. I went to the desk to ask for more pillows and some extra towels. I had to practically beg for this simple request. It is a pet friendly motel. Lots of dogs. Most guests were cleaning up after their pets but otherwise there was no property maintenance. The pet (trash) stations were heaping and were never emptied our entire stay. Good thing the weather was cool while we were there, or I know the stench would be awful. We stay in "Mom and Pop" places often and usually find that the owners take pride in their establishment. Not this joint. I honestly can't believe it is still in business. Take my advice. Read the reviews before you book. We are wish we had! Lesson learned. read more

This is a true story. I took my girl, her daughter(10), and her daughter's friend(7) to Rockaway Beach on 8/22/21. Booked online and got there at 2pm. Asked if I could check in early and was told there was no way I could check in before 4. I've literally stayed in hundreds of hotels due to traveling for work or family trips and have never had to wait to 4 to check in but fair enough. We went onto the beach and took the girls tot he candy shop for ice cream and was enjoying our day. Walked back up tot the hotel where my truck was parked and there was a guy digging through the trash for cans. I live in Portland so I didn't think anything of it and went about my business. His girl was in the car and after he put his can in his trunk and bunjeed it closed they were in their way. 2 mins later he comes speeding down the road towards me and the girls saying how I was talking shit to his girl and acting like the fake tough guy that he was. He goes into the office to tell "grimace" at the front desk about it and she says she's not going to let me check k in because I was "talking shit to her staff". Needless to say I will never spend another dollar there and there was multiple people outside that saw it and said he was in the wrong. I might've been to dark for their liking but we went to Seaside and had a great time anyways. just another broke POS tweeker jealous I guess. Fuck this place read more

If your looking for 5 star this isn't it. Is it a perfect hotel right on the beach with ocean view and everything you need including microwave and fridge in room. Yes. Pool hot tub yes. Walking distance from stores, food, bars yes. On the beach yes. It's perfect for the price. It is dated. I blew the circuit in the room so had to get ready in dark to leave for the day. I called front desk but answer, didn't want to be a bother so just used my phone light. Had pool towels qt pool, plenty of towels in room. Shower was awesome. We would def come back. read more

Great beach access with picnic tables. Lots of ciggy butts. No decks. Some ground level rooms have a stoop with plastic chairs. The whole property is pretty dingy with old furniture from Goodwill. That could be "charming" if it weren't grimy. Bathroom sink and tub didn't drain properly. Web photos do not match reality. They charge up front so you are kind of stuck upon arrival. I have stayed in other places at Rockaway Beach that are much nicer for similar rates. read more

My family has had their reunion here for over 10 years. Within the past few years ownership has changed and the check in process has gotten harder and harder. I booked my trip 6 months prior to the weekend, and booked via Expedia. I checked the website of the hotel for the pet policy, it states to declare the pet at check in or prior. I had called a few weeks prior to check in to confirm my reservation and ask if everything was still set for 2 nights. I was assured the booking was there. When I got to the hotel to check in, and declare my 2 small dogs, one of which is an ESA. I was greeted rudely with the front desk. I did not bring either dog into the front office, but was promptly explained the policy. When I mentioned the website they interrupted me to say Expedia has different policies and I am not in a pet friendly room. Instead of offering a switch or suggestion, I began asking about last names of relatives to see who might have a pet friendly room. At this point my room isn't ready regardless. My sister asks to use the restroom, which they say they don't have a public restrooms which I understand. My sister then says she's going to my aunts, which I inform Her is room ***, the maid is about to let my sister in when the owner or manager leaves the front desk to stop her. My sister is now crying that she has to pee, and they still have no bathroom. Even while we are waiting to check in. 2 hours later we go back in, the front desk then tells me that my card was declined 3 times (the bank never called, Expedia never called, the hotel never called, I never received any emails, there was plenty in the bank, and this did not come up prior to bathroom incident). Due to this, the owner decided to cancel our room. At 2pm on a Friday. We than had a family member call to pay for the room, the front desk absolutely refused to allow it. We were lucky enough to get one night at a hotel down the street, but have to switch tomorrow night. After sharing our experience with fellow beach goers... we found this story to be very similar to others. I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy. 1 star because I have to. read more

Easy reservations online. They have specials and mid week price was very reasonable. Stayed two nights and with 15% discount plus pet fee $15 night, only $163.00 total. Stayed in a downstairs room with a window and door out to small patio. Easy beach access right outside your door. View of Twin Rocks. Pool, hot tub and sauna. Very nice staff. They have some units with mini kitchens. Will stay here again. Very happy mini vacation. read more

Impromptu trip to the coast with my guy. We stayed in a queen room: no kitchen, but had a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Single queen rooms are small, with one window. It's a fine enough window, but I really like windows. The bigger units have more windows. Our room was... maybe a little run down, but not any more than any other hotels on the coast in the same price range, and everything was clean. The staff was super friendly. Pool, hot tub, and sauna that we checked out looked clean, but we never got around to enjoying them. Maybe next time. The bed was kinda hard, but I managed to sleep like a log anyway. The rooms on the ground floor have back doors that lead right out to a courtyard area, with picnic tables, and just past the courtyard is the beach. Seriously cannot beat walking straight onto the beach.... love. that. Also? There's a swing set. And yes, we swung. Hotel is close to shops/ food/ bar. Free wi-fi. THANK YOU!!! :D AAA card will save you some money on rates, although I think the rates are pretty cheap, considering.... I believe we paid $64 for one night. Great for sunny beach vacations. Terrible for a Tsunami The beach is only a few steps from the hotel and the views are stellar. If you haven't been to an Oregon beach before it's really like nothing you've experienced before and this hotel offers great access. The rooms are spacious and comfortable but worn. There is a wonderful heated indoor pool, jacuzzi and sauna located on the property and the staff are very accommodating. Rockaway also seems to be one of the more underrated coastal towns in Oregon. It's quaint but full of a wide variety of shops and restaurants. I recommend Flamingo Jims for anyone visiting. read more

My husband and I were so pleasantly surprised by this hotel! Sure it is an older hotel and it's age shows a little bit, but that's ok. The property has been lovingly cared for and our room was nice and clean, the bed was very comfortable, the microwave and fridge in our room as an unexpected bonus. The real surprise though was that when the website said that every room has a view, we didn't know that every bottom floor also had a door that lead directly out to the beach, just a few feet (?) away!!! Amazing!!! The price was also very reasonable and free wifi was also an unexpected treat. The staff was also extremely nice. We will certainly be back again for a visit!! read more
