It was filthy (long hairs on bathroom floors, dust everywhere and visibly on furniture). My husband tried to surprise me with a night away with a friend at Rockaway Beach. Based on the pics in the advertisement I would have booked it as well...but it was not as described. Horrible night sleep as well with both bedroom windows right next to the highway and a food truck. My friend and I tried to just laugh about it and enjoy the night regardless, but will never stay here again. Had potential, but literally looked like they tried to buy a few new decorations to cover the fact that this place needs some major TLC before it's ready to have guests again.

We had to wear socks the whole time in order to keep our feet clean. You need a new broom. Your broom did not help with the dirt. All it did was smear it around and made it worse. The sheets were not clean. They did not smell clean nor looked clean. All of your pillow cases were turned inside out and put back on the pillows. Not good. The linen for the hyda bed was thrown into the cabinet and not folded. Your dishes were not clean as well. One of your plates had shards of glass on it. Again...not GOOD! PLEASE PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GET NEW HOUSEKEEPING!!! We witnessed her come in for other rooms and not do a dang thing but tinker around and vape. We will never stay here again nor will our family and friends.

We love, love, love Rockaway Beach, Oregon…read more No, it's not because of Pronto Pup. We'll, for me, Pronto Pup is more of an obsession than a cool place. It's borderline addi..... you know what! "Don't worry about me." I digress. We like Silver Sands Motel. For one, we can afford it. 2. The view. Good golly He does good work. It's nice to be able to walk to the ocean from your room. It's the main draw for us. We've ironically gotten the same room both times we stayed here. If you get a bottom room, bring a window lock of your own so you can sleep with the window cracked open. Nothing like ocean sounds to help you sleep like a baby. Maybe some day we'll stay on the second floor. I hear the view is even better but no balcony to sit on. The rooms could use a little update but that would also mean an increase in consumer costs. I never go anywhere because of the hotel room. It's always about what's outside of this place. Silver Sands is still nice. It's not shabby by any measue. Besides, all the cool stuff in Rockaway Beach isn't in your hotel room, no matter how much you paid.

I realize that a…read morebeachfront hotel with ocean views for $200 a night is a good find, especially when they only charge an additional $15 pet fee per night. If all you need is a reasonably priced stay, then by all means, this hotel may suit you just fine. Unfortunately the main reason I booked this hotel was because we came to the beach to get out of the sweltering heat wave that's happening and after a long day I just wanted to cool off. Once we checked in we realized they have no AC in the rooms here. It was sweltering. We sat there sweating for the first hour before I decided to take a shower to try and cool off. There were also bugs everywhere in the room. Like, a lot of bugs, dozens. When I walked into the bathroom, I found more bugs and a strange burn on the counter top. I also found hair in the tub so I pushed back the curtain and washed it out myself and as I was getting undressed to get in, just to feel some cool water on my body, a man walked down the stairs outside and said "oh shit!" I looked and he could see down into the bathroom through the window. It was horrifying. Then, while showering asked husband why he hung a dirty washcloth over the shower rod and what it was from. He came in to ask what I was talking about and when I showed it to him, he said he had not been in the bathroom yet. It was dry and obviously left from the last person, with brown and yellow spots on it. I was so disgusted, I literally threw up. Later, I tried to enjoy the ocean views and breeze in between killing bugs but the smoke from the bonfires was so strong that we could not keep our windows open. Our room filled with smoke smell and we had to try and open the front door to get it out. Wen went out to our car and brought in two small portable fans we had because there was no ac or fan in the room to try and get the smell out but it was to no avail and since I could not sleep, I can confirm that there were still people with bonfires lit on the beach at 2 a.m. Even when we checked out in the morning you could still smell the smoke so if you want the fresh ocean breeze, visit another beach. Speaking of check out, it is at 11 am here. Usually we like to sleep in and enjoy the room but by 8, I was dressed and ready to go. Unfortunately my husband was a bit slower and at 9:50 am the housekeeper entered our room without even knocking. She stepped inside and said "Oh, sorry." Luckily we were dressed and our dog was asleep but that is utterly wrong and intrusive. What if we had been undressed? Not to mention that its not a very smart thing to do with dog friendly rooms. Not all the dogs are tiny cuties like ours. And while I am on the subject of dogs, there were two women in room just down from us who kept letting their two dogs (brown dachshund and grey greyhound) out off leash; they were barking and defecating all over. At one point one of their dogs came up to our glass door and started barking at our dog inside our room. It was ridiculous. We had out door and window shut from the smoke but it still upset our pup. They were bothering other dog rooms as well. These women are why it's so difficult to find dog friendly accommodations. There were other issues as well. Some of the outlets in the room did not work and the internet was so slow I could not even load webpages at times. They have old fashioned keys for the back door and they want to charge you if you don't return it, which makes sense, but they also want to charge you if you don't return the plastic key card for the front door when you check out. There is no pool, no hot tub, no breakfast... Never again.

It's well situated to the bay for crabbing, boating and clamming. The tv is big and has cable but it does not let you screencast or connect to it so if you want to stream, you can't. Internet works well. The bathroom is decent. Shower pressure is amazing and hot! Give me a comfy clean room close to the beach, and I'm set. Specifically, we were looking for a reasonable place for a mid-August weekend. And they had to allow pets. Beach Stay fit the bill. We weren't expecting much, but when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised. Things you need to know: The manager here is sweet and works very hard. She has beautiful plants/flowers on the property. We rented a "granny's vacation house" situation with a front porch, one room with a King sized bed and the 2nd room with a queen. The couch is a sectional with a pull-out full sized bed. You get DirectTV (but you shouldn't be watching TV while you're here anyway!), plenty of fresh towels, hair dryer, full kitchen with everything from a coffee maker, tongs, wine opener, microwave, strainer, etc. The kitchen and bathroom were both recently redone and had ceramic tile. They had fresh blankets and extra pillows in both closets. Board games in the bedroom closet. Plenty of hot water for 3 showers in a row (and I use a LOT of hot water). The best thing about this place is that I was able to walk to the market down the street to pick up milk/creamer, come back and make a pot of fresh coffee, and take it TO the beach for a morning coffee walk right after waking up. I returned to take a nice, hot shower, and then walked to the beach and spent the entire day there. Restaurants are within walking distance. Perfect little place for a pet-friendly beach visit. Just don't steal my reservation, or I'll hunt you down!

All communication must be via text or email with Casago. You cannot enter your room without doing the online pre-check-in. Only then will you get the 10-digit entry code for your room. There is no staff on the property. No lobby. No breakfast, coffee, brochures. Very weirdly minimal. The room, bedding, and towels were all clean. Beds comfortable. Unfortunately, there were some issues. Bug in coffee maker. Coffee maker power cord too short and no convenient outlets nearby. Had to put the coffee maker in the sink in order to make coffee. That was the only outlet close enough to plug in the coffee maker without moving furniture around. Our room had two queen beds. So, potentially, the room could have up to four people. There was one chair for the room. Towel rod holder. Why no towel rod? No hand soap for bathroom. Power outlet next to bed was so loose, gravity won't allow a power cord to stay in it. So can't charge phone or anything else. They want a prompt 10am check out, but don't even provide a clock in the room. Bathroom door sticks badly. Handle nearly non-functional. But it's cheap, a block from the beach, and across the street from shops and restaurants. If this multitude of little things won't bother you, then you should have a great time.
