Check in was a breeze, and staffer even showed us to our site. Bathrooms and shower buildings are cleaned regularly. My full hookup site was great. Heads up: Most of not all roads are dirt, and they can be muddy and puddly after a rain. And none of the sites I saw had paved pads for your RV. It can be a chore to keep the dirt and mud out of your rig, but that's camping. What's cool?--the standalone outhouses have flush toilets with running water, and many of the rental cabins seemed to be wheelchair accessible.

If you have adult children who camp with you, this seems like a money grab and gets expensive very quickly. Lastly, they are very rude about checking out. We were told that we had to be out by 12 noon, which was fine, but at 12:05 PM, they came around in a golf cart demanding that we exit the site even though we were only approximately 4 feet over the line for a site that we had reserved an extended. stay. They saw that we were packing up and even though no one was occupying the site, they kept badgering us about leaving. Perhaps a bit more tact when approaching customers would've been appreciated.

I like that they collect trash twice a day, you just need to put trash out next to your site number. They light up the site number so it was very easy to find out site when we got back in the dark. No alcohol campground so in general, it isn't noisy or loud, just people enjoy their time. Easy in and out as one way around campground. Has lots of things to do for little kid, they have rotating weekly schedule. My toddler loves the playground & big sandbox. We ate some ice cream too as a night treat. I definitely want to be back next year. Just one small thing to keep in mind: as a T mobile user, all of us don't have any cell service. The only place they have wifi is the Cove, so we took turn to spend a short time there to use wifi to keep in touch with family at home. We are okay with no wifi but it is a bit difficult with no cell service.

Luckily Nate and I were in the TC area so we decided to do Mac Wood's Dune Rides on our drive back to Grand Rapids. They don't take any reservations ahead of time, so you just have to show up and get on the waitlist. When we pulled into the parking lot, I was amazed at how busy it was on a Monday afternoon, so I was expecting a long wait. Luckily we only waited about 20 minutes for the two of us. Their system is pretty good - give them your name and party number at the counter inside the gift shop, then they'll announce it over the intercom system with the truck number when they have a spot for you. There's some stuff to do while you wait - an ice cream shop next door, some historical vehicles to learn about, a big gift shop, and plenty of benches to sit and wait under the pavilion. Our driver was so funny and had lots of dad jokes, but we also learned about the vegetation and history of the area, which was very interesting. The ride itself was not nearly as thrilling as I would have hoped, more of like a leisurely ride but still very enjoyable. If you're a thrill-seeker this is not going to do it for you in that regard. Definitely hold on to your hat though, it will fly off if you're not careful. There are a couple of stops including a quick one at Lake Michigan that has some photo ops. The whole tour is 40 minutes and I'm really glad we got to experience it. As I've gotten older, I've come to appreciate the Great Lakes so much and it's so amazing to see this beautiful landscape in this way.

At the last minute I found this campground and made my reservation over the phone with the owner Don. He was very helpful and booked us site 44 since we requested shade and an electric hookup. The campground is stunning! After a meandering drive in through the woods, the road opens up to the lake itself which is surrounded by campsites of all types and sizes. Check in was a breeze thanks to Sue and we easily found our site for the weekend. 44 has ample shade and a large area where we setup our tents next to a beach. We had a wonderful view of the sunsets every night and really cool-looking fog banks over the water early in the morning. Very relaxing campground. Our favorite part was swimming out at the sandbar and jumping off the floating wooden raft at the center of the lake. The campground is only a short 15 minute drive to nearby Shelby and Hart, MI. Muskegon is only about a half hour south. If you're a disc golfer, Flip City is only 15 minutes away and is one of the best courses in the U.S. we played three rounds this week and had some amazing meals at Big Hart Brewery in Hart, MI and The Brown Bear in Shelby. My friends and I will be staying at this campground every year for our Flip City weekend going forward. It's unique location on the lake, relaxing atmosphere, close proximity to local food and attractions, and the wonderful owners make this a gem in western Michigan.
