It was after the season, I just went north for a weekend and a couple of days of peace and quiet. The host and hostess were amazing, the rooms were comfortable and clean. The pool was open & the water warm, they also had a bonfire on the beach at night. It was just a very enjoyable time. I will definitely be back at might become a yearly trip. read more

Pros: location, location, location. Many things in walking distance. Free coffee in lobby. No breakfast offerings. Indoor pool, great view on pool balcony, hot tub. Cons: Hotel is dated, my husband had to fix the toilet to make it flush at all as soon as we arrived, no housekeeping services, coffee pot shattered the moment we picked it up in our room, pool area is SO slippery!! It's overpriced for what it is, but you're paying for convenience and location. I'd stay here again simply for the convenience and that it's a fine place to stay. "Resort," eh? I'm not sure about that, but if ratings were based solely on location, service and tidiness, I would add stars. However, this facility is pretty dated and old school. It's well maintained and staff is wonderful but rooms are extremely basic and minimally comfortable. I noticed that first/ground-floor rooms lacked privacy. We didn't spend a lot of time in our room so the accommodations were adequate. No higher end hotels exist here - this is a very small town. The best thing about this hotel is the convenient location to walk almost anywhere. Also, it's adjacent to the main crossroads where all the vehicles must exit as they come off the dunes. I so enjoyed the parade every night when we could catch it in time. At any rate, we had such a great time ATV'ing at the dunes! read more

Dated and worn hotel that's balanced by a helpful staff and great location. Basement-level rooms, which are not clearly identified when making a reservation on their website, are musty, dark and lacking in privacy, and should be avoided. Due to our family traveling with a grandparent, we booked one of the two-room (three bed) suites. This turned out to be one of those basement units. Confronted with a damp, musty smell upon entering, my wife immediately opened the window... which made things worse as they had just resealed the parking lot (which was literally five feet from our window). Hotel staff tried to mitigate this issue by first putting ionizers in the room, and, when that didn't work, by moving us to adjoining two-queen rooms one floor up. This took a while as the front desk staff had to call management a couple of times to work this change out. It sounded like these basement rooms have a track record of problems, which, if true, begs the question as to why they're still in use. Once we were moved, the hotel was OK, if basic. The rooms we moved to were well-worn but clean. The water pressure in the shower was good. The beds were bumpy and kind of hard. (One last note on the two-bedroom suite. The photos on their website show two bedrooms connected by a doorway. In reality our room had an apartment-style layout with the bedroom connected by a short hallway. The photos on their site look more like the two adjoining (but connected) rooms we were transferred to after leaving the basement room.) read more

Rented a king bed room with hot tub over looking the water. Totally worth the price as the view was beautiful . Only bummer is for such a high price they don't offer breakfast. The indoor pool is nice and it over looks the water located on the top floor. Front desk receptionists were very friendly. Caution to people looking to stay in silver lake...everything shuts down between 10:30-11pm on the weekends and you will have no cell phone reception. Restaurants / general store/ attractions all within walking distance unless you want the Mac dune tours or lighthouse or go to the dunes yourself without renting something - then you will need your car. As well, their WiFi is super slow. Barely even works. So if you stay make sure you are prepared to go WiFi free/ no cell phone service. It was nice to wake up in the AM and see a beautiful water front with sand dunes. I was very impressed with the view! read more

This is a great hotel. I don't usually stay at hotels but we were in need of one so we dropped by here. We got our room and had these big carts that we could use to carry our stuff. On the top floor they had an arcade and swimming pool. I would've put the pool on the first floor so it could be deeper but beggars can't be choosers plus the a beach on Silver Lake was right across the road. read more

Just wrapped up a 3 night stay here for my girlfriend's birthday and have nothing but great things to say about this place. I reached out multiple times to their Facebook page in the weeks leading up to our trip asking for recommendations on buggy rentals, food and more. Prompt and friendly responses each time saving me hours on further travel research. Our room overlooked Silver Lake with the dunes directly behind that. The view alone made this spot ideal. Sunsets over the lake/dunes were breathtaking. Couldn't ask for a better location either, right in the middle of all immediate activities (GoKarts, Putt Putt, Shops) and food spots. (Attached image is during sunset from our balcony) Staff was very accommodating offering up great "good eat" tips, weather forecasts and always had a smile on their face. As we learned was common in Silver Lake, cell service is very very weak and the hotels shared wifi was hit or miss, mostly miss. Pro Tip: Pizza at the General Store right on the corner has bomb homemade pizza. Overall quality of our room was above average. The bed was comfy enough, hot tub was a little small but definitely didn't stop us, great family atmosphere and absolute superb location. Next trip to Silver Lake, won't consider staying anywhere else. Pro Tip: Check out Wild Bill's ATV Rentals for "the most powerful machine allowed on the dunes (Razor)". And if you're a morning person, grab the 9AM reservation. "Early Bird" special gets you an extra 30 minutes gripping on the dunes and once you're on 'em... 'Nuff said. read more

No beach. At least not one with water you can't swim in! Our key stopped working 3 different times ( we were only there for a weekend). Room didn't get cleaned. Loud. No breakfast. For the money not worth it. The dunes are nice but no nice swimming beaches near by. Closest is pentwater or ludington. Good area for a weekend but not longer. Would not stay again. I know it's a small town but no cell phone service and hotels wifi was awful(I am not expecting to browse Facebook or stream videos everywhere but I could not receive or place any phone calls.) However up the road in the dunes I could. Go figure! For the record I've travelled all over the world. So I have a lot to compare it to. read more

This was a great hotel with a beautiful view of Silver Lake! The front desk was helpful and had recommendations for different activities and "must do" adventures for us as we were only in town for an overnight. The hotel is located in the heart of Silver Lake within walking distance of food, dune buggy rides, rentals, put-putt golf, and go-carts! We had a blast! The room was clean, the AC was in working order and it was quiet. The hotel was full of families with lots of little kids but we were never disturbed or inconvenienced by noise! They also have an indoor pool- we chose to swim in the lake but this is a nice option in case the weather is bad. We have already booked our room for next summer and can't wait for our next stay! read more

Stayed two nights in July. You are only staying here for the view and proximity to the dunes. Hotel is a bit dated- clean but needs upgrading. The pool is laughable shallow... 1' deep to a maximum of 3' deep. Not for swimming not sure what you'd do with it. The view is impeccable and it is walking distance to the dunes but there is no beach at the hotel. An older gentleman worked the front desk both afternoons we stayed and I found him quite rude and treated me as a 'silly tourist' when I'd ask for directions or recommendations. He is not friendly and frankly ruined our stay. read more

My husband and I stayed there for our first anniversary, also first time in the area. The hotel room was very clean, as well as the rest of the building. We had a lake view room and the view was stunning. Parking was close and there was always a spot in a comfortable proximity of the hotel. There were ample towels in the room at all times and the gentlemen who worked the front counter were always helpful. It was never loud, even outside, everything shut down at a respectable time. The only cons that I have are that despite the signs everywhere saying smoking was prohibited, people were ALWAYS smoking on the balcony. So if your balcony door was open or if you were outside, You were bombarded with cigarette smoke. Even walking to the pier, or private beach. So it seems they aren't to serious about implementing the rules. And the gnats, we had an issue with several of them taunting the room. read more

We know there are plenty of other places to stay . We've never tried them out. We've always had such a great experience with this place. They always have great deals in the fall and spring (when I'm too much of a weenie to camp!) Our room is always clean, there's always plenty of towels. The staff is more than accomodating and friendly. It's definitely the nicest hotel in the area, and you pay for it - but as with anything you get what you pay for. If you go - try to stay on the lake side - it's got amazing views! They have a TV station hooked up to a few security cameras so you can always keep an eye out on your stuff in the parking lot! read more

I hesitated to call them after my trip because of how unfriendly the staff was but I had to because I noticed some extra charges. Nice view but that all. In my opinion this is an expensive lake front hotel, not a resort. Rooms are dated, water smells terrible, no microwave in the cheaper rooms, pool is a joke, half the jets in the hot tub don't work. You can't walk into the water you must climb over the retaining wall or climb down the ladder on the dock. The lake is shallow not even waist deep at the end of the dock. No good places to eat unless you want pizza. Traffic......all evening long a parade of jeeps and 4x4 coming in from the dunes. I'm use to paying a little less and getting a 2 bedroom condo with a fully equipped kitchen and a small living room, on the beach facing the Atlantic Ocean, that is a resort. read more

WIFI is terrible, counter service is terrible, the cleaning crew is the only good thing about this hotel. They all smile and have a great attitude. That is the only star about this place. Patios and balconies are non-smoking, but not enforced. I had to ask the "neighbor" to please not smoke on the patio because the smoke goes right into our room. Advertised as "beachfront"...yeah, on the other side of the busy road behind the hotel. No beach, a sea wall and "sandbox." Find a place on Lake Michigan and drive to see the dunes. read more

Made last minute reservation from Hotel's website and was a little surprised that when were able to get a room for 2 nights being Summer and all. It is a 3 1/2 drive so arriving late after work and wanted to make sure we had 2 full days in the area. Entered our check-in/check-out dates and was provided with 2 room options and chose Deluxe Queen w/ balcony overlooking the lake. Never received an email confirmation so called before departing to ensure we had a reservation. Upon our 11 PM arrival, while checking in, was informed that we only had the room for 1 night and that check out was at 11 AM. Explained that we had book on their website for 2 nights but had not received an email confirmation so had called to confirm. Reply was that they did not have any rooms available and that they had been booked for months. Asked if we could then possible have a late check out and was told no. That people could make more money right now on unemployment, so they were short staffed and had to get started on the rooms right away. That no one wanted to work. Then when resolving a door key issue with another employee relayed the issue once again, asked if we should have received an email confirmation to which we received a positive confirmation. Indicated that we did not receive a confirmation and had called to confirm before hitting the road. Asked if we could perhaps get a discount as we were now paying $300 for just a place to sleep for the night. Response was that they had been booked for months, that they do not do anything as it is all done through the computer and that they would check the email address I provided in the morning. Not a single "I'm sorry from either employee!! If I canceled and looked for another room would have still been charged the full rate. So basically, we just paid $300 for a place to sleep for a few hours!! read more

Outdated but very clean hotel with amazing views of Silver Lake and the dunes. Stayed one night in a room with lake views (balcony) and for the price it was worth it just for the views and convenience to "downtown" Silver Lake. I will note, that there was a strong smell when we entered our room... but opening the sliding door to air out a bit helped. My boyfriend did get an allergic reaction to the detergent or products that are used on the sheets/towels. read more

Good location, more for a family with small kids, slow internet, tight parking, no open bon fires on their beach. Beach side is the way to go or you look at the back of buildings. Pool is on fourth floor, again for children. Walking distance to everything. Rooms were a touch dated for the money you pay, but NO VACANCY the entire time we were there M-F. Unless you are going to use their beach, I would stay up the street and save $50 a night. read more

I started planning a family picnic in February and reached out to this hotel to hold a block of rooms. The manager was accommodating, friendly and helpful. Upon checking in I was inadvertently checked into the wrong room, then while switching discovered I had no room at all. The manager righted the wrong, found us a room for the 1st with the promise of finding us something for the next night. which she did. So we moved. neither mine nor my sister's room was with the rest of the family - different floor. My issue here is not with the staff but the technology that allowed all of this to happen. The rooms are clean (thank goodness no bugs) but very minimal for the price. Mattresses are only ok and I am glad I brought my own pillow. Go to Costco and buy some good pillows for not much money! And upgrade your wifi! Since almost no one had phone service it would have been nice to be able to wifi connect to people coming in from across the country. My cousin came from spring lake to visit for a few hours and sat alone in the lobby because no one could connect to anyone. (I know that is not the fault of the hotel but added to the frustration) all in all we had a nice picnic - at the state park. read more
