Had I read the reviews beforehand we would not have stopped here, the owner is aggressive and a total jerk. We stopped in the parking lot to change my son's diaper. After we were done, my husband went inside to ask if there was somewhere we could throw it out. The guy was extremely rude from the get go and said we couldn't throw it away there, it would stink up the place (we were asking about an outside dumpster, but whatever). My husband then went inside after finding an outside garbage to inquire about restrooms. Guy was extremely rude again and said they weren't free, and that nothing in the store was free and he doesn't cater to cheapskates. We always purchase something when we use gas station facilities, but he was so rude that my husband decided he wasn't going to even bother and told him that that was no way to run a business. He did say the guy was an a-hole after leaving the store, but that's no excuse for what he did after. The guy decided to aggressively follow him out towards our car, where I was playing with our toddler, which as a mother was extremely scary, and told me my husband was a jerk and he didn't want our business anyway. I have never felt more unsafe than I did when this guy was talking smack on my husband and telling us we weren't welcome and needed to leave as I buckled in my son. I honestly was fearful that he would become physically aggressive with us. If this is how he chooses to run his business then I don't see him being open much longer, what an absolutely horrible experience! Will never return. read more

We love this place. We have been making the hour drive just to eat here for about 5 years now. They have the best Burger in Utah!! The fries are delicious and the beer battered onion rings are to die for!! Excellent fry sauce too!! The bathrooms are super clean and they have a great selection of drinks. Used to like this place. But 7 of us walked in ready to order and the owner barked at one of our group about reading the sign about the restroom only being available for guests. We still decided to order except our friend that felt like he was being a jerk (and did not use the facilities). We asked our friend if he was sure he didn't want anything and the owner said, "He's just butt hurt about the bathroom." So we cancelled our order and left. I'm a trucker. So this place was great to me. Easy parking, good food. (I got a sausage breakfast sandwich and cheese sticks) And a friendly conversation. Keep in mind this place is home cooked food. No warmers. From scratch. So it take a little time. Have some patience and hang out and talk about fishing. You are asked to buy something from the store to use the bathroom. Our young daughter needed to use the restroom as we were passing through Vernon. So we decided to pull over and stop at the Silver Sage. BIG MISTAKE. We noticed a sign on the door that said a purchase is required to use the restroom. We respect that, so my husband grabbed his wallet before we walked in with the kids. I also had some garbage from earlier in our car ride that I wanted to throw away while we were there. Immediately when we walked in, the man behind the counter told me I was not allowed to bring in outside garbage. I apologized and walked back out to our van with the little sack of garbage. Meanwhile, the man asked my husband if he had read the sign about bathroom use. My husband replied yes and that we were planning to buy something. As my husband & kids walked down the little hall toward the restrooms, the man then rudely told the kids they were in the way and to "shove over"?? My husband immediately grabbed the kids & left. As we were trying to get the kids buckled, the man came out to the parking lot & stared us down. Please, please avoid taking your family here. This is a must stop if you are traveling through the area. The food is superb, homemade, and cooked fresh. The silver sage is what you could and would call the definition of a small town excellent establishment. The owner is extremely friendly and provides excellent customer service. There are drinks, wood, gas, and of course home cooked meals to include burritos and burgers. If you are traveling through I recommend stopping, the food takes some time but it's fresh. Might be mislabeled. It is a simple oasis gas, supply and restaurant in Vernon (the only one.) Clean. Adaquate supplies. Good menu... breakfast and burgers are your go-to options. Cooking service is a little slow, not a place to stop if you are in a hurry, but worth it. read more

Wow!!! Never have I ever had such a disrespectful rude experience with an establishment. My husband and I have been here before, knowing where the water tap is and pulled around back ro get ready to fill up. Just about hopped out to walk in and PAY and some extremely rude man walked up and started yelling at us saying he is going to call the police. We were nice and and tried to explain we were just about to walk in and pay, (we hadn't even opened the car door yet) we were just getting situated but he just shut it down and said leave or he's calling the police!!! This is a very little gas station diner. They have a small menu but what they do have is always very good andade to order, the slice your tomatoes and lettuce right when you order your burger. They have specialities throughout the week some days its home made green chili or fresh made buffalo wings or local made tamales. I have been to this place 40 times in the past. I have always bought something when I went there. This time I went, and they're charging two dollars to use the restroom. I was going do use the restroom, and by 5 to 10 dollars worth of merchandise, which I always do. Instead they were so rude in insisting that I buy my product first,before using the restroom, that I have left, and will never return I cannot believe these people were that rude to me. read more

I drive by this place twice a week as I head out into the desert for work. The people who work there are friendly and they have a decent selection of items for purchase in their store. Their prices are surprisingly reasonable considering how far they are away from distributors. For example, if you look on their large bags of potato chips at the price printed on them you'll notice that it's the same price charged by Walmart in the nearest town which is Lehi, 70 miles away. I haven't tried anything from their restaurant but I hear it's pretty good. read more

Nice little gem in a remote area. I wasn't expecting much, but they really exceeded my expectations. Busy place on a Friday evening, so I'm glad I wasn't in a rush. The menu had some nice burger options. I could also get tater tots instead of fries, which is a nice change. Jenny was very helpful and our food that she made tasted great. We were out for a long drive today and decided to eat at Silver Sage. It was a GREAT decision! The prices were better than places in the SLC valley, and the quality of the meat was superior. I had the Cowboy burger for $8 and it was amazing. The Cowboy comes with thick slabs of bacon and a sausage patty. My buddy had the bacon cheese burger and he said it was the best burger he has had in a while. It was nice hearing the locals talk about what goes on in the small town. Also a huge plus they didn't seem to mind that I had my dog (boxer) with me, and even let me use the hose in the back to give her some water. If I am ever back in the area, I will be eating at the Silver Sage. read more
