Late lunch/early dinner in Santa Rosa on our way to Santa Fe. The Silver Moon is easy to access just off of I-40. This is our 3rd or 4th time at the Silver moon in as many years. The restrauant is a little tired but the food is good. I ordered chili releno's (cheese) with red sauce. It comes with brown beans and pozole. I enjoyed the meal. Jan ordered the Mexican dinner. A taco, enchilada, and tamale with brown beans and pozole. She enjoyed her mean and said the tamale was very good. The service was good, the prices ok.

The service was good for the cafe. The food was quick and tasty. Probably the best restaurant in town.

Food was delicious, service was good but the people there are not very friendly. The ambiance seems nice, there is a little store there to buy things. The manager or owner not sure, does not exhibit that small town charm. The wait staff does but definitely not the manager/owner. 7 of us stopped in to have dinner. First we asked if we could sit outside since there was an open air patio with numerous empty tables and chairs. It would have been a perfect night to sit outside and drink and eat. (We would have spent a fortune there that night if the would have let us sit outside.) We were told "No, the outside area is closed" So they crammed us into a booth. We asked politely if we could put a chair at the end of the table so one side would not be squished with 4 people. They said "No, we need this walkway" We said can't we move the little table across the way? That way there is still a walkway but you just have to veer a little bit. The answer was "No". Our waitress was wonderful but her boss did not have that small town charm we were hoping to see. It was like going to a restaurant in a Big City. Unyielding and a bit cranky. The food is good the waitress was wonderful, but management needs to be a bit friendlier. I would normally give 5 stars, but the attitude of the manager brings things down. So much that the next night the 7 of us tried to eat there again but were greeted with "the outside is closed and you're gonna have to wait a long time" Pretty short and curt. So much we decided not to eat there and went some place else.

I am not one to leave a bad review but here we go... Food was edible but not good by any means. Meat in my husbands enchiladas was not fully cooked. Still pink. My fajitas were nasty and the guacamole was not fresh. Definitely outta the bag. My grandpa said his fajita salad was good. Wish I would've listened to the reviews and went to Dairy Queen instead. Fr. These folks up in the silver moon cafe can not cook

    Pork tamales, beans, and posale.

The food was delicious, the pork tamales reminded me of me of the ones my sister in-law makes, the posale was full of flavor. The service was slower than expected, but it was very busy when we stopped in. Lots of choices on the menu, would definitely go back!

We had a nice relaxing visit at this place. I had the Santa Rosa enchiladas with beans, while it tasted good and fresh I didn't appreciate a single whole chicken piece in my enchilada, I had to cut it up and it was just one hunk wgixh was weird because you have to roll an enchilada. So it felt like no love was put into the dish. I enjoyed the beans and pozole. My husband enjoyed his chicken tacos but they didn't cone with any sides so we added beans to his dish at a separate cost. We like sparking water with our meals and they brought out bottled San peligrino at $4.95 each ouch. Next time we'll ask first . We had fried cheesecake which tasted fresh but there was a lot of tortilla around it prior to frying so it was more tortilla dough then cheesecake we won't reorder. All in all it was a good place you just gotta know what to order .

    Delicious fudge!

Fun place to come when you're in Santa Rosa not far off the highway. Service was wonderful. Fun Americana decor and well-stocked gift store with delicious house made fudge -- and cute samples. Comfortable booths. Ordered the classic margaritas; very good. And had to try the green chile cheeseburger. Friend had soup and salad. Fresh onions and tomatoes. Regrettably they were out of chocolate cake for dessert. Next time!

A very convenient restaurant right across from our motel, we were quickly seated and waited on, the menu was easy to navigate through and had many options. With Mexican food a margarita is essential and tonight was no different, the service and the pleasant atmosphere tea added to an enjoyable meal.

Cute little gift…read moreshop items adorn the walls and around the cash wrap we were sitting in the corner of the restaurant and had a nice view out of the window. We were immediately asked for our drink order now they do serve beer here and it's my understanding the margaritas are made with wine. We just had water as we had had a long day traveling and just needed to rehydrate. I included some pictures of the food that we ordered, but I wanted to note that the chips and salsa was very good. The chips were made of corn and salted lightly and served warm. The salsa was handmade and on the spicy side I had a bowl of Caldo de Res ( beef soup with vegetables. Definitely comfort food and I highly recommend) and a homemade pork green chili tamale on the side. The tamale was flavored outstanding, but was a little lacking on the meat and slightly on the dry side, but I would definitely order it again because it was authentic and the flavor was great. The other person in my party had a quesadilla stuffed with chicken. I didn't have a photo of that, but it was the fattest quesadilla I've ever seen they raved about it. The restaurant was relatively full. I noticed in the parking lot that most of the license plates were from out of state so since this restaurant is in Santa Rosa, New Mexico located off the interstate of I 40 many of these patrons were traveling we're passing through. A lot of individual people eating alone as well at the bar. The service was fantastic. There was two young ladies working together in tandem definitely family members. Both had great big smiles on their faces. I did comment to both of them not to work too hard and both responded "oh we have been since the day they we were born" as they chuckled, commenting something along that line with warm smiles and a chuckle. This particular restaurant gets high marks for me as I compare it to the one down the end of the street also on this historic route 66 that I reviewed not just four or five weeks ago at three stars. I would highly recommend this place over the competitor. Not only for flavor of food but Service, atmosphere and pricing. I travel through here quite often and I will definitely make a point to come back and try several different menu items. I will be sure to ask the owners what they recommend and report back and review that for all that maybe are following in case you happen to come through here to this family owned an operated gem.

The owner/server made us feel like we were guests in their home rather than just customers in a restaurant. Genuine, warm, and welcoming -- the kind of hospitality that instantly makes your night better. Now the food... WOW. The prickly pear margarita deserves its own paragraph. It was easily one of the best margaritas I've ever had -- perfectly balanced, refreshing, and dangerously easy to drink. If you come here and don't order one, you're doing it wrong. What I loved most is that this place is equally amazing for vegetarians AND meat eaters. That's rare. * The squash taco was absolutely incredible -- flavorful, perfectly cooked, and proof that vegetarian dishes can be just as exciting as anything with meat. * Meanwhile, the menu is also a meat-lover's paradise with tons of taco options and traditional Mexican dishes that pack huge flavor. Everything tasted fresh, bold, and made with care. You can tell there's real pride behind the food here. Between the amazing tacos, the unforgettable margaritas, and the genuinely kind service, this was one of those meals you keep thinking about long after you leave. 10/10 -- would go back every time I'm in Santa Fe. !!!!!! I visited on a Monday evening, around 5pm. That's usually the time us old folks eat. I had no issue getting a table. Promptly seated, I ordered a beer and my dinner. The menu is a good mix, something for everyone. I ordered the Chili Rellenos. Of course I ordered that. Hey, when in Rome..... My meal was served quick and hot. Waiting a minute to cool was definitely in the cards. No problem, I had my beer, salsa and chips to occupy me while the steam settled. After a bit, I dug in. First fork was the rice. Oh, was that rice ever good! The only problem was that there wasn't enough. I suggest that you order a side of that glorious grain. Fantastic! The refried beans, well, were ok, but just ok. The Hatch greenies, as you'd expect, were outstanding and very flavorful. I ordered them Christmas style, with green and red sauce. Both of those condiments were tasty, but of the two, the green sauce stood out. Boy did it ever. I'll be dreaming of that sauce later tonight. Hopefully my girlfriend doesn't pop into the picture.....OR, maybe she should! LoL, now that would be a dream! Don't worry about parking, as there is more than ample. You can park in the front, the back, either side, and if you're driving a big rig, pulling a trailer, or driving a tank, they've got you covered. Across the street is special parking for those vehicles. More parking outside than tables inside. Pay La Cita a visit for a romantic dinner, or as I did, by yourself....my dream trend may have helped with that. Hey, I may be old, but certainly not dead! Quick Tip: I parked in the back, and when leaving, I took the dirt alley. It was a fun adventure. I'd suggest that you do it during daylight hours though. You never know who you'll run into, or for that matter, over! Let's hope it isn't Skinny Pete or Badger.

Based off of the other Yelp reviews, I had high hopes, but unfortunately, we were let down by this place. We ordered online and ordered multiple different dishes in order to try them out. The burrito also didn't seem to have the pan fried potatoes that were supposed to be in it. Tacos al Carbon: From the first bite I knew I wasn't going to eat these; the steak tasted weird, with a weird texture, and seemed old. Enchilladas: I got them with beef & green sauce; the beef had a decent flavor and texture. Stuffed Sopapilla: The sopapilla itself had a good comfort food type of taste and texture. We ordered a burrito, fries and drinks - a Manhattan for my wife and a chocolate martini with Kettle One and crème de cacao for me. My wife's drink was to her liking, but the chocolate martini tasted like there was coffee liqueur in it. Since I didn't know when our waitress would appear again, I told the first person we saw - a young man - that I couldn't drink anything with coffee because of the caffeine, and that I needed it remade. He took it back to redo. While we were waiting, one of the pool players dropped a very loud f-bomb when he missed a shot. Then a young child began crying very loudly. The young man came back with the remade drink, and the coffee taste was gone. After it had been over 45 minutes I had to ask what looked like the manager what had happened to our burrito and fries. She went back to check, and our food finally appeared. The burritos were long on rice and short on carne asada, something we couldn't know until we started eating. At some point our original waitress came back, and my wife told her we had to send back my first drink because of the coffee ingredient. She denied any coffee-containing spirit was used, and walked away. We never saw her again. I had to ask the manager for an itemized ticket, since the ones we had were sign for a total amount only, with no itemized detail. Since the original waitress had closed out our ticket right after we ordered and had given us our check, we paid and left. No tip was left. If you want a properly-mixed drink, be prepared to explicitly request every ingredient. Better still, don't expect great drinks or food at this place - stay away. There are lots of other choices in Las Vegas NM.
