Overall, things went really well. I was in the area after a trip to Carrizozo and decided I would try this quaint café. I was served promptly and the food was delicious. They had a nice selection of New Mexican food along with American favorites. The only needs improvement I have is they did not offer an itemized receipt. Horrible service! My husband and I are from out of town and wanted to get some food from a long road trip. We walked in and no one greeted us. Finally a lady came to our table and threw the menus on our table. I asked for some water and the lady told us to wait, while she was being friendly to other men that arrived after us. This is a really good restaurant that is kind of in the middle of nowhere in New Mexico. My wife and I drove an hour out of our way to come here just to get some real new Mexico cuisine and they did not disappoint! This is truly a mom and pop restaurant as they were the ones that were taking our orders and busing the tables. I saw a group of men that were in cowboy hats and spurs and it was not for show, let me tell you. They knew everyone that came in and seemed like and the red and green chili sauces were fantastic. They also took down our names and phone numbers for COVID-19 contact tracing which is the only restaurant I have been to since the pandemic started that did that and I really appreciate it. If you are driving through New Mexico and want to eat don't get fast food, come pay a visit to El Corral under the big blue sky in Corona! read more

WOW !!! This is beyond GREAT! Chicken Enchiladas (Verde) to die for !! Soooo light fluffy and with an egg on top absolutely amazing. Also I got the combination plate with a delicious Chili Relleno ...a unique beef taco and an amazing red chili cheese Enchilada that was almost as good as the chicken green chili If you are passing through do yourself a favor and stop here I have lived in the Santa Fe area for over 20 years and this is as good as anything you can get !! For half the price Did I mention that our waitress was a beautiful person so kind and very attentive. Christina is wonderful. Stopped here as we were traveling across the country. Doesnt look to great from the outside, but dont let it fool you. The food was SOOO GOOD. Highly recommend if you want some good mexican food. We were driving from Santa Fe to Ruidoso and came across this little cafe. The portions were generous and the prices were good. I had the breakfast burrito smothered in green chili and it was very good and filling. The waitress was very nice and accommodating. On way home to Las Cruces, we decided to stop at the El Corral Cafe for breakfast. My had the huevos rancheros (green) and I had the country fried steak and eggs. Both meals came with hash browns. Both meals were very good. Service was excellent. When we were preparing to leave we had the opportunity to visit with the waitress and the two ladies who had been in the kitchen cooking. Wow! What an expected treat. Out of almost nowhere we came upon El Corral. Locals love this place as do we now. Great greeting as we entered making us feel like family. The food was marvelous and plentiful. My husband had the smothered burrito with red sauce and he raved about it. Our waitress was friendly, efficient, and a riot. I had passed through and by this restaurant many times over the years, always in the middle of the night heading back to El Paso. My wife and I flew into El Paso and stayed in Alamagordo for the night. Woke up the next morning and hit the road headed to Raton. I drove right past their front door and remembered that I was more than a little hungry. Checked the review mirror and hung a hard right into the gravel RR parking. headed back the other way popped across the highway and parked right in front of the cafe. The whole while my wife was a thinking that I was crazy. I had the juevos rancheros. Young lady asked red or green and since I could not decide, she offered up Christmas! The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but the interior has a quaint charm to it. This is a true local joint, and upon entering there was a group of people just sitting around drinking coffee. I asked how the green chile sauce tasted and the waitress brought me a free sample. It tasted great, though it's more of a beef chili made with green chile than a traditional chile sauce. I ordered the breakfast burrito with ham smothered in green chile. Overall it was a good and large breakfast burrito, though a bit bland. Some hot sauce helped it out, and i really enjoyed the whole thing. Good service, and very reasonable prices. This was by far one of the best local restaurants I've eaten at. After a long day of driving, my mother, my son, and I all found something we could enjoy here, and the service was excellent!! It probably was old roast beef. Who offers roast beef with green bell peppers and onions? How about lettuce, tomato and cheese? The food was bad, the service was dismal and the bathroom was filthy. It was clear that this "food establishment" was a former gas station, with the "dining" area in the former service bay. This place needs to be put out of business by the nearest health department. It's doubtful that I will ever travel through Vaughn, NM again, but if I do, I won't eat here.
