For a long time now, I have been really wanting to go to Sarasota School of Glass and create…read moresomething beautiful. Then I saw that there was a Groupon for it, and told my daughter that is what I want to do for my birthday this year. I booked it online and was so happy that they were open on a Tuesday, because that was my actual birthday. During the online booking process we each had to choose between vase, wavy bowl or plate. My daughter and I both chose to create a wavy bowl. Then we looked for inspiration online on how we wanted to design our wavy bowls so we would have some sort of plan when we arrived and have maximum time to work on our projects. It was a beautiful drive from Clearwater. The studio had so many creative pieces to look at. Our instructor was great and taught us everything we would need to know about cutting the glass and items we could use to create our own unique masterpieces. We came back a week later to pick up our fused glass art after it had been placed in the kiln. We had such an amazing time, and I can't wait to go again. This may be my new addiction. There are so many different projects to choose from at the studio. We were so happy and proud of our finished wavy bowls when we picked them up. It was such an incredibly fun way to celebrate my birthday. I will be back!

The only things I've painted are rental properties and between the lines when I was a kid. To call me an amateur is to give me too much credit. Still, experiencing Painting With a Twist was fun! The instructor was engaging, helpful and talented. I am likely to never do this again but I treasure the memories. Life is good with a new, fun experience.

The selection by the birthday girl is to pain a milky way moon night. The teacher was nice to set the base of the painting by lighter colors to darker color. The set the tone of the background. We also learn how to use the object to set the moon. We also have the blue light color use. What I like the most use the painting brush to spray for the stars in the sky. I added some of ideas in the picture to make it mysterious. That will be my own art.

The overall icy reception every time I've been in the store is off putting. I feel like I'm…read moreinterrupting them? Not friendly in other words. I made a beautiful needlepoint that I brought to them to have made into a pillow. I went into the store 2 months later (same icy reception) to check on the pillow and was told that it takes a minimum of three months to make the pillow. Fine. I got a call two weeks ago saying my pillow was lost and could I bring a photo of my project so they could replace the canvas and thread. Ok. I walked into the store last week to reconcile this heartbreaking mistake. The stores attendants again stared at me like I was wrecking their day for the interruption with my pillow. I walked out with no answers or solution. They did replace my threads and canvas so I could do my needlepoint over again. Needless to say I can not recommend this establishment. .
