Our experience, however, was disheartening from the start. Despite being told there was only "one spot left" on the soccer team, she arrived to find her new roommate was also joining the team and in reality, only four girls on the team were actually attending IMG, forcing outside recruitment. Over two months, they only played two competitive games, nowhere near the frequency promised, and their coach was absent for 4-weeks before the school notified us of his termination. The facilities were equally disappointing. My daughter never had hot water for her showers, more often she only had cold water so she would skip showering altogether. The dining hall's food quality was concerning too; a student mentor who once worked in the kitchen mentioned that the morning eggs were just powdered mix and water, and microwaved before being served. The cafeteria often ran out of protein, leaving only pasta and rice. The living environment raised serious red flags: her bed bug bites eventually numbered around 50, even after attempts by the staff to address the infestation. From her dorm window, she often witnessed students hooking up, and one time a male student with his hands down a female student's pants in an unmonitored "blind spot," an issue apparently not uncommon. Academically, cheating ran rampant, with little to no consequences for those involved, and two of her teachers left the school within just a few weeks. For the considerable tuition and lofty marketing claims, IMG Academy's reality fell painfully short. I urge prospective families to ask hard questions and demand clear, specific answers if they're considering enrollment. No matter what you're told or promised, their enrollment agreement gives no guarantees of service nor refunds. Our experience was far from the elite, supportive environment we were led to believe we'd find.

They are at a slant for some reason?? Huge bodies of water look like parking. Nothing is marked. Nothing indicates the best parking for the fields, or where to go. The fact they host tournaments and haven't bothered to care or think about any of this is shocking. I was told there's signage at the main entrance but guess what? NO signage directing to the "main entrance"

Many pros and cons to this place. I went in to inquire about a membership and swim lessons. Met Ms…read more Cynthia at the front desk and she was so sweet and helpful. She answered all of our questions and more. She also let us take a tour of the place. We ran into Hillary at the pool who was also extremely helpful and nice. We had so much in common which made me feel like this was the place to be. The actual facility could use a facelift, but because of the people we met, we are going forward with joining. I wish there was an outdoor track and a better room for the kids to play in. I will come back to update about pricing and quality once we've been there for a bit.

I struggle with this one a bit. I really do love the YMCA and for a while, this one was terrific. I…read morecome down to Bradenton to perform every year and have had a YMCA Nationwide membership for about a decade. have never had an issue with using my membership at other YMCAs, but this time the Y let me know that I could come in for free the first time, but after that I would be charged 6.00 per visit. The front desk person was very helpful when I inquired further and she explained that since most of their clients are visitors, their equipment was getting used but they didn't receive any of the membership due money from visitors and it was really affecting them. While I appreciate this, it sounds like there needs to be more of an internal discussion within the YMCA nationwide program. We discussed some of the possible options and the easiest, though still inconvenient one, was to suspend my hometown account and then start up an account at the Bradenton Branch. However, there didn't seem to be a way to bypass the enrollment fee and so I would have to pay that and then ultimately close the membership down after my three month contract in Bradenton ends in January. It was one too many hurdles to hop over to join a gym I have already joined. While I respect that this YMCA needs to make changes so that their facility can continue to prosper, I am disappointed that a program the YMCA touts as "Nationwide" isn't really. The ability to go to YMCAs all over was one of the major reasons why my family opted to join.
