Rainy days and tacos just make sense together…read more While driving near Nyack, NY, we stumbled across a small hidden gem called El Cuñao Taqueria & Deli tucked away from the busier stretch of Main Street. No frills, no flashy atmosphere -- just comida auténtica and seriously satisfying flavors. I ordered the carne asada nachos and an order of tacos al pastor, and both hit the spot perfectly. Fresh ingredients, bold flavor, and that classic street-style taco taste that instantly lifts your ánimo on a gloomy day. The nachos were loaded, cheesy, and packed with flavor, while the al pastor tacos were simple, fresh, and delicioso. And yes... we washed it all down with a Coke Zero in a glass bottle because somehow it siempre tastes better that way. Now, if you're looking for upbeat energy and polished service, este lugar probably isn't it. The staff seemed a bit inexperienced and lacked motivation. But where the service fell short, the kitchen absolutely delivered with authentic flavors and generous portions. Sometimes the best spots are the quiet little hole-in-the-wall places that let the food do all the talking.

We then waited & waited to put a drink order in. We finally got the attention of someone & ordered drinks. We waited a very long time to get them & the place was not packed. We finally got them & talked to the mgr who took a round of drinks off our bill. We shared cauliflower, mushroom dumplings & various taco's. Food was very good. We had so much trouble trying to get someone to help us & someone in our party waited 20 minutes for his drink - unacceptable! Really the service was terrible. They also charged us $8 in fees to pay the kitchen staff - what a turnoff. I won't be back bc of the service & the added fees to pay their staff.

The staff were very kind to my children and service was attentive, the busboy/girl, waiter, and bartender were all quick to help whenever we needed something. We tried the brisket nachos for the first time and they were delicious. The jalapeños were a bit too spicy for my taste, but the dish overall was still great. I had the shrimp tacos again, which were juicy and flavorful. My husband tried the asada tacos but felt they weren't as flavorful as the churrasco he had during our last visit, though he did enjoy the cilantro lime rice. For the kids, we ordered chicken tenders, white rice, and tostones. The tenders were soft and easy to eat, and the kids loved them. Happy hour margaritas were $10. I had the passionfruit on the rocks and it was delicious. My husband switched from a frozen mango (too sweet) to mango on the rocks and liked it much better. Bonus for families: the bathrooms are spacious and they have changing tables. Overall, a great experience and we'd come back again.
