I asked her why and she told me to hold my spot. Hold my spot? So, I asked her if she wanted me to come back later?....."No, no...." she said, I can take you now. Now I was even more baffled. I told her I'd be paying with debit and she told me well that's totally different. If you want to book online for next time you come in...it will be easier for you with your CC information registered online. Well, first off....how do you know I'll be back.....secondly, can't I just do that myself at home in the comfort of my own space and privacy? Her approach to getting my credit card info. just felt very out of bounds and forced making me feel very uncomfortable. I clarified to her: I just want a basic mani, paying debit when it's done. What do you need my credit card number for? When she realized that I wasn't into the whole...."let's share private information thang" she backed off. To be honest, at that point I was a bit startled, because just about a month ago I had fraudulent theft on my debit card and Vancouver at the moment is under serious ID theft and credit theft. Once she allowed me to enter past the Welcome matt without grabbing my credit card information, she asked me to pick a colour. Two things happened while I was trying to find my colour at the wall in the back. 1. I didn't find any colour I liked (very limited colour selection) 2. The red flags just didn't go away. It just felt off. I left without getting my nails done. I pick a colour. you paint my nails. I pay debit. We all go home happy. What do you need my credit card information for?

I've been the Cecil B twice for facials. The first facial was unremarkable, except that I spent at…read moreleast 25 minutes of the 60 minute treatment listening to a shill for Swiss Line skin products. That's 24 minutes too much. They were trying to get me to pay $115 for a 75ml tube of product made by a company I've never ever heard of. The second spa treatment, done yesterday, was likewise underwhelming. What is really upsetting is that, due to overaggressive extractions, I am now covered in pin-prick-like, red wounds where pores were traumatised when they'd be better left alone. What's worse is that my esthetician, who had long nails, didn't even wear gloves to do the extractions, which I discovered too late. The extractions actually brought up tears, and I am the type of person who can sit through brazilian waxes and blood donations with a buddha-like smile on my face. I feel like I paid well over $135 for a skin treatment that left me in worse shape than I started. I ran into a friend the today, who, taking one look at my face, said "what did I tell you about doing your own extractions! You're going to get an infection!" I went back today to show the shop manager what was going on. I wasn't looking for refunds or complimentary services, as I kept reiterating, but she kept going on and on about how I should really let her show me a few lines of skin care products that would help minimise the need for extractions. Unbelievable. Long and short is that I won't go back, and would tell anyone (that I like) to steer clear.

I would not dare say anything to her about what I think of it because I do not want to hurt her feelings and seem ungrateful, but I think she is getting royally ripped off here. The Basic Pedicure (60 minutes, $47) The service started with a 15-20 minute soak of my feet in a pedicure sink, which I thought was a little too long. The remaining 40 minutes or so was spent by my nail tech gently smoothing out my rough skin, trimming my cuticles, shaping and buffing my nails, "massaging" my legs, and applying nail polish. The "massage" itself was lame because I did not feel like I got a massage - it felt more like someone rubbing lotion on my legs for about a minute. That said, I can't complain too much since the objective of the pedi - to have sandal-ready feet - was achieved. The Express Manicure (30 minutes, $18) This was supposed to be a 30-minute service, but mine was over in about 20. The nail tech shaped and buffed my nails, trimmed my cuticles, and applied clear nail polish. She did OK, but it was nothing great. I would have rather saved my Aunt her $18 because my nails did not look much better than they did before the manicure and my cuticles are now cracked and a bit inflamed. Conclusion The staff are nice enough, but they do just a "meh" job and I therefore do not feel that paying to get a mani/pedi here is money well spent. If I weren't so gutless, I would tell my Aunt to save her money and seek better and/or less expensive alternatives to this place.

I find it hard to find a skincare professional that walks the line between actually doing some lasting good to your skin and giving you a relaxing experience. This spa does an excellent job both. I found out they were voted best day spa by in their local area and can see why. Their location is warm, relaxing and quite beautiful.
