SELLS DEFECTIVE APPLIANCES!! DON'T BUY THEIR WASHERS!!
I've…read moredone business with Sam and Ahmad for couple years on furniture because I stage rental properties, but when I purchased a Whirlpool washer and dryer in March 2019, I stressed that I wanted to wash clothes that evening. They delivered the appliances, installed the washer and plugged in the gas dryer. As the delivery guy was leaving, I asked, "aren't you going to connect the dryer to the gas tank?". He said, "Oh no, we don't install gas dryers". Mind you, I could've purchased an electric dryers at the store had I known that fact. Long story short, Ahmad's tech said he charges $250 to install. I called Ahmad and Sam to pick up the dryer because they didn't tell me that I needed to have all that extra work and money involved. I just didn't have time for that nonsense, and I was leaving the island in a couple of days. That night I washed a load of clothes and noticed that there was a weird humming noise at 3-seconds intervals coming from the washer. I tried to open the lid but it stays locked once its started, so I ignored that, went to bed, and a little before 3pm the next day, when the guys were due to pick up the the dryer, I pulled out the clothes out of the washer and noticed that they were still dirty and looked as if they were not washed at all!! So, I attempted to wash that same load again. I still heard that humming noise and tried to open the lid again. I had to shut off the washer and turn it back on again and to use my pinky finger to keep the lid-lock-switch depressed so I could see where that noise was coming from. I then noticed that the drum or basket of the washer was as if it dropped 5" and detached from the top opening. And the agitator was hardly even moving!!! No wonder the clothes didn't get cleaned!! As I'm observing that defect in the washer, the delivery guys showed up and I signaled them to come see what was going on with the washer. They took one look and said, "aaaye, there's something definitely wrong with this machine!!", "let me take a video of it washing". And they did, and they sent the video clip to Sam's (the older one) cel phone. Well, I told the delivery guy to take, not only the washer, but the washer also, and they did. After I got back to Los Angeles, I called Sam (the young one) to make sure they credited back my account! He said he could only give me store credit or he'll have to charge me a restocking fee. I told him to give me store credit, because I'll always need something from their store. A month later I get a bill from Ashley's for $1,300.00. I called lil'Sam and asked why I'm getting a bill. I guess I was confused about the "store-credit" option at the time. At any rate, I told him to cancel that bill, because I returned the defective washer and the dryer. He said that that's how all the washers are. And that if there was something wrong with the washer, he would have sent the Authorized Technician to fix it at a reasonable time. I spoke to Whirlpool Headquarters and spoke to Janette in Michigan and she said that the WTW 4815EW basket is NOT supposed to be detached from the top opening and if it is, that means it has a suspension problem. She gave me 2 service provider numbers to call. One near my home in Los Angeles: Noho Appliance Doctor (818) 505-8885 and they confirmed the same thing that Janette said. I then called the other Service Provider on St. Croix: Sublett Appliance Service and he said that the basket should not drop more than 3/8" to 1/2" from the top opening. I then called Sam and Ahmad and told them; and Ahmad said that "if Chris from Sublett comes over here to Ashley Homestore and look at our machines and say that something wrong with them, that I'll give you all your money back and I won't charge you a restocking fee". Chris went there on Friday April 26, 2019 and today (Monday) Ahmad said that, sorry, he wasn't there when Chris was there and he only heard that Chris said that all their washers were Good! Well, I'm not going to waste anymore of my time trying to prove to these people that they are intentionally purchasing defective-irregular appliances and pre-planning to have a technician do all the warrantee'd repairs after the customer purchases the items and then complains. Hmmm...sounds like a scam! So, I was forced to pay the $194.70 stocking fee!!!!! I also purchased a stove last summer from them for a new tenant and when the tenant moved out in March of this year, I turned on the stove and all the burners were defective!!! (the stove was never used) In order for the flame to be set on "low", you have to endure the continuous clicking sound. Not me again!!! I'll just put the word out to warn other islanders not to get stuck with junk!!!
