He suggested he take on the "easiest" area so I could judge his speed and skill. He immediately set to work and very quickly found the root of the problem...tile shards that had not been removed under the baseboard. He worked quickly and efficiently but at that same was meticulous, looking to preserve the paint on the baseboards and insuring they were nailed back into studs. He cleaned up his work space and corrected about 18 feet of flooring in a reasonable amount of time. He was polite and focused and did a great deal of work in a relatively short period of time.

Hired them to switch out a carport tent for a metal carport. They didn't read the project details apparently, showed up late, and then demanded more money because they didn't realize they needed to remove the tent. I agreed to meet them in the middle and pay half of their request just to get the project done. They agreed. They then finished the project late, didn't even anchor it to the ground, and instead of hauling the items off like they had agreed, they chucked all of the wood, nails, and other materials into my front lawn. They then sent me a photo of the concrete only (hiding that they had done this), and then claimed they had cleaned up while sending me photos not showing the safety disaster they had created. I then confronted them on this, and they claimed they hadn't agreed to haul it off when they had, and their statements that they had cleaned up while blowing their nails and screws into our yard is insane. I then asked for the additional 50% I had paid back since they clearly had not done what was agreed to, and they refused.

I texted him in September as I had several things lined up that needed installed and repaired. It was a few days before he responded but he did and explained that he had been working on a big project. He came out on 9/20 to do the work. One of the projects was to remove a light fixture and install two mini pendant lights. These are two separate fixtures with chain links from the ceiling to the actual light encasing. This was the last project of the day and he did a great job of changing out my old light to this updated look. With one exception. He called me in to look at them and I noticed one was hanging shorter than the other. When I mentioned it he said "No, it's correct." I didn't want to be rude and go get a tape measure to ensure that it was correct (I will in the future). After he left I measured and it was 1/4" shorter. To some this might not seem like much but it is noticeable. When he was leaving he commented that my house could use quite a bit of work (he was tactful) and I agreed. I could tell he was soft selling me for future larger projects. That was fine as I would like to hire a small business to do the work when I'm ready. We discussed a few more projects for his next visit and he left. Fast forward to 10/19. I sent a text that the needed to fix the light and why. He responded and asked if the light fell. I reiterated that the light on the right was shorter. It's now 11/14. I have yet to hear back from him. I'm in sales, if I did something incorrectly I own it and do the best I can to fix the problem. Especially if I want future work and bigger projects. When you fail to even respond it is highly unprofessional. I will have to pay a different handyman to fix the issue now.

If you're looking for someone reliable, keep looking. David would only show up a couple of times a week, usually late in the afternoon, which dragged the project on forever and left my family without a functional bathroom for weeks. To make things worse, there was major financial mishandling. Despite me paying a $1,900 deposit, he constantly claimed he didn't have money for basic materials. I actually had to go out and buy the tiles myself--which were supposed to be included in his price--just so he could keep working. When he did actually do work, it was completely defective: The shower floor is a disaster: It's sloped the wrong way, so water pools in the corner instead of going down the drain. Some of the tiles are offset and some weren't. After he abandoned the project on Dec 29th, he verbally promised a refund but has since disappeared and stopped responding. Five other contractors have looked at it and confirmed it's a total loss that has to be torn down and redone. Save yourself the money and the headache--do not hire him.
