Incredible customer service and great skills! Wonderful gift engraving! Super nice owner!read more

Shama, the owner, was great! Very personable and wonderful to work with…read more I wanted to get an engraving done on a baptism gift for my niece and of course waited until the last minute to pick what I wanted to give her. After noticing my local Things Remembered had closed its doors and after getting rejected for doing an outside engraving by one business, I found Sami's Engravings in Troy. She was honest in expressing that she would need to see my item to evaluate if engraving was possible at her store which was no issue since I had a flat, thicker, glass surface for which I wanted engraved. I came in Tuesday afternoon for her to complete an engraving by Thursday afternoon. But she was able to get it done and I picked it up in less than 24 hours! The process was able to move quickly because she was technologically savvy enough to shoot me texts for when she sent me emails as I am much slower to respond to emails. This allowed to me approve of the design swiftly so she could do her part to meet an aggressive deadline. And she did it all with kindness and a serving spirit! I would definitely come back to get my nephew's baptism gift engraved (once I figure out what I am getting him)! I will also be telling my friends and coworkers about her store for their gifting needs! It has been so hard to get optimum service since COVID. A+ Service A+ Speed A+ Communication

My mom used to be very big into Lladro, but ever since her favorite store back in the day closed…read more(Sally's Gifts in Dearborn - awesome store!), I haven't seen her buy another piece. Thinking it would be a wonderful present, I googled some places that sold it. I was shocked to see that Ram Creations was apparently one of the biggest sellers of Lladro in the US and so close by. I immediately grabbed my mom so I could let her pick out her present in person. Seeing her face as we walked in was worth the trip in itself, but it was even better when she saw that some of the pieces were Indian inspired (apparently that was new since the last time she bought a piece). Ever since then we've been going as a mother daughter trip to their yearly Lladro shows where the artists themselves come in and make pieces live (really really cool thing to see). While I was there for the Lladro pieces I noticed that they also sell jewelry. This made me think of them when my beloved family heirloom completely broke (the event that triggered the need to write this review). I went there to see if I could find another one just like it to wear instead. I was blown away at the response of the salesperson (Perhaps the owner? The guy with the mustache...) when I explained my story. He flashed a big smile and listened while I explained how important my family heirloom was to me and immediately offered to try and fix it (an option I didn't think I had). While he was doing that, another salesperson was looking through all of their catalogs to see if they could find me something similar. Eventually, the store owner was able to fix it for me, but I decided that given it's fragile state it was probably just best to start a new tradition with the same sentiment and pass down a new necklace. I then asked the owner to melt it and form it into the exact same necklace but just thicker and stronger. I was extremely pleased when I got it back and it looked exactly like my family heirloom, just fresher and stronger. Quite honestly more than anything, I was really blown away by their understanding of my whole predicament. Its rare to see that kind of customer service these days (especially with the internet and all), so I really appreciated it. The next time I buy Lladro or jewelry, I will be sure to make this place my first stop. It was nice to see that a local family owned and operated business was able to help out my family. I guess there are definitely some things you still can't get on the internet (great in person customer service... not family :))!

I have always been impressed with the Tappers store at Somerset mall. The store is so shiny and…read morebright and the staff is very welcoming. My husband and I are in our mid 80's and we walk the mall every day and stop to chat with the staff. There is one Security Person (Mark) I don't know his last name, but he went way above and beyond his official capacity. I had fallen a week ago and was walking on a cane. He saw me sitting on the bench waiting for my husband to get the car and pick me up. He took a minute from his job to help me to the car and be sure I was buckled in. We were parked right outside the center court entrance. That act of kindness meant so much to me and I will never to be able to thank him enough. Tappers is extremely fortunate to have security personnel like Mark.

I believe I was racially and economically profiled at Rolex Boutique Tapper's Detroit. I was…read morestopped at the door and discouraged from entering a nearly empty boutique, while shortly afterward I watched other customers walk in without receiving the same treatment. I don't make that accusation casually. I was visiting Michigan and spending the day with a family I had invited to dinner and to take their children to the LEGO Store. They were humble people and dressed modestly. I am Mexican-American and, because I was traveling, I was dressed comfortably and casually. As we walked through the mall, I noticed the Rolex boutique. I own several Rolex watches and routinely stop in boutiques to see what they have. I pointed toward the store, told the family I wanted to go inside, and walked toward the entrance with them directly behind me. The two security guards at the entrance were professional and courteous. They treated me like any other customer. Then a gentleman behind the counter saw us. He looked at me. He looked at the family behind me. Then he rushed toward the entrance and physically positioned himself in the doorway to stop me. "I'm so sorry, sir, you cannot enter. We don't have enough associates to assist you. We are really busy." Really? I could see inside the store. There appeared to be TWO customers browsing. I could also see associates who appeared to have nothing to do. The family behind me immediately understood the message. They stopped approaching and backed away. I didn't. I smiled and asked, "No problem. How long should I wait?" "At least 30 minutes. You may want to visit other stores." I told him I was perfectly comfortable waiting right there. And then something remarkable happened: the supposed 30-minute wait suddenly vanished. After speaking with me for another moment, his position changed to: "Okay, you can come in." No wave of customers had left. No obvious staffing issue had suddenly been resolved. Somehow, within moments, the 30-minute barrier disappeared. Once I was inside, a young Black man entered. I watched the same employee's reaction and perceived an obvious hesitation. Given what had just happened to me, the question hanging in my mind was impossible to ignore: Why wasn't he stopped too? Shortly afterward, a white man entered. No confrontation. No warning about being understaffed. No "30-minute wait." He appeared to be given free access to the boutique. By then, the contradiction was impossible for me to overlook. I cannot tell anyone what was inside this employee's mind. But I can absolutely describe his conduct and how it affected me. Based on what I personally experienced and observed, I believe I was profiled based on my race, my appearance, the people accompanying me, and what this employee apparently perceived our economic status to be. And here's the irony: I am already a Rolex customer. I own multiple Rolex pieces. Once inside, with the entire experience already soured, I nevertheless tried to make conversation and asked about an entry-level Rolex I was considering purchasing as a gift. I was told to go to Tudor. That was enough for me. What angered me most wasn't being underestimated personally. It was watching the family I was with physically retreat from that doorway because they immediately felt that they did not belong there. I had invited them and their children out for an enjoyable evening, and in a matter of seconds, someone managed to make them feel unwelcome in a store simply because we wanted to walk inside and look at watches. Luxury is not a license to decide who looks wealthy enough to enter your store. A Rolex boutique should understand that better than almost anyone. Your customers do not owe you designer clothing, a particular skin color, or visible evidence of their bank balance before being treated with dignity. I walked toward that door as an existing Rolex owner. I walked away questioning whether I ever want to purchase another one. Rolex Boutique Tapper's Detroit should be embarrassed by this experience.
