Responded very quickly and offered to come the same day, on a Saturday, no less, so we appreciated…read morethat. We needed curtains hung. I had started the job myself but got an anchor screw stuck and figured I should have a pro step in so I didn't wreck my new walls. All the supplies were here, placed where they needed to be, holes were measured and marked for custom made rods and drapes. He charges by the hour and moves very, very slow. He didn't have his own step ladder or anchor screws. In the first hour, he managed to put in 3 screws in holes that had already been marked. He claimed he "needed to remeasure" and that's why it took so long, but he used the holes that I had already marked. He also said it was too hard to do with custom cut rods. He also said it wasn't his fault because I had an anchor screw stuck in the wall already, which was the whole reason I hired him. This is what pros do: they come prepared, know the required materials and techniques, and advise the customer on the best way to proceed. I knew we needed to cut it off when he asked me how to use an anchor screw. He didn't know if you needed to pre-drill or not for a very basic and common anchor. I cannot imagine a professional handyman not knowing that. He used a level to stare at the pre-marked holes for what seemed like an eternity, just eating up time. 3 screws = $200. Seems like a nice enough man, but handyman may not be the profession for him, and that's giving him the benefit of the doubt that he wasn't just trying to take advantage of someone he assumed was too naive too know how long the job should take. He became very defensive, making excuses when I said we'd need to end the job at one hour. Im sure judging by other less than 5 star reviews here (that I really wish I'd have taken the time to read) he will post a very defensive response here as well. Please just don't take a job you don't have the required expertise to complete, and I don't want to hear defensive excuses when I'm still out $200 for almost no work completed.

After several unanswered phone calls, and least three unanswered emails, I finally got a call from…read morecustomer service today promising to be in touch "in three to five business days" to address a problem with my installation. This was apparently in response to an unfavorable review I had posted elsewhere, to which they responded that "they'd be in touch soon." And they were, but it shouldn't have taken a bludgeon. I must say though, that the sales and installation process went well. The rep who came to my house was knowledgeable and efficient, the "measurer" who came on time was in and out in no time, and the installation guy knew what he was doing. The installation itself works -- so far. There's an apparent problem with a battery that doesn't seem to be charging as expected -- what I thought to have been a trivial problem, easily dealt with -- that has escalated into long, drawn out attempts at communication that seemed to disappear into the ether. I have several other window fixtures I was going to hire 3 Day Blinds to handle, but their shockingly unresponsive customer service has me looking elsewhere.

We recently decided to add a shade to the very large skylight in our historic home. Our goal was…read moreto find one that was automated, included a remote control, and offered a mobile phone app so we could schedule open and close times. Additionally, we wanted it to include a solar panel to keep the batteries charged, preventing us from having to climb a ladder to access the battery wand every few months. This objective sounded simple enough, but we encountered limitations with several of the local suppliers we initially contacted. Excuses included the skylight size, an inability to add automation, and difficulty adding the desired solar panel. Budget Blinds of Arlington and Alexandria took the time to understand our needs and identified a Hunter Douglas offering that met all of them. Throughout the process, office manager, Camila was engaged. Sales rep, Pam was informative and personable, and installation tech, Anton was detail oriented and respectful to our home.
