Brought a vehicle in for a simple repair that I needed done quickly and didn't have time to do myself. They took forever to get to it and destroyed more components in the process! I called for a warranty of the parts that failed in under a week and was treated as if I was a lying toddler and knew nothing about the vehicle. After bringing it down (via specific time appointment) for them to inspect the faulty part and the damage THEY incurred, they let the vehicle set for over a day before even inspecting. Upon finally inspecting the vehicle they call to tell me all the damage was MY fault and existed prior to their work on it. On top of it all, the rate I was quoted at for them to fix the issues they created was just plain thievery. Claiming to split the labor cost of the repair (which I had to do myself in the end and took me but an hour!) at $175!! That means these guys are charging ~$350 an hour to break your vehicle and install faulty components! When you bring a straight and dry vehicle in for a simple part replacement and receive it back with grease spewing out of the axles and oil puking out of the seal (which can only be damaged upon installation of said replacement part) it screams incompetent mechanics. And when the poor work is followed up with dismal customer service and refusing responsibility for their mistakes its makes for a headache inducing, and expensive nightmare. Even if your vehicle is busted and you're in a rush, avoid this shop. You're better off walking, it's a lot cheaper.

Later that afternoon they called me and told me the problem I had with a critical senser. (The other repair shops could not look at my truck for at least a week.) They had to order that part from Denver. With the Interstate Hwy 70 closed West of Denver, there were shipping problems causing delays. They told me that they could repair my truck the same day that they get the part. That Wednesday they called me and they had repared my truck. They charged me a reasonable fee for their services. Unfortunately my hotel charged me much more money than my truck repairs. I was happy that John Roberts got my truck repaired in a timely mannor and I got to check out of that unreasonable motel.

Jeff at John Roberts was very helpful and set me up with an appointment. When I arrived,, he greeted me, took my information, and gave me an estimate of how long it would take. He then pointed me to the waiting room and told me there would be coffee. As promised, my vehicle was finished a little quicker than his estimated time. I will use them again next year when back in Gunnison.

He is competent, honest, and takes on a lot of vehicle repairs because so many in the community value his service. We are lucky to have Signal Peak in our community. I had both CV joints go on my 2008 Subaru Outback when passing through Gunnison enroute to family in Mississippi/Arkansas. Tom stayed past hours to finish our job and get us on the road that next morning. He also gave us a pretty good deal on the labor. It was a godsend... But mistakes are just human...and the CV joints popped out on the highway once we reached Mississippi, leaving us stranded, immobile, in 75mph traffic until a tow truck came. The local shop in Jackson, Mississippi, secured them into place, and said we'd need to find a Subaru dealership to get them fixed asap, as there was some damage to the tines and boot. They were leaking the whole way back to Arkansas and went out on the Highway near Fayetteville, Arkansas, and I again had to be towed to the Adventure Subaru, where they said I had no choice but to replace the CV's and boots again, due to improper installation. I called Tom to discuss this, and he denied any fault. He even had the parts sent from Arkansas COD, and reimbursed by the local Carquest he had purchased them from, offering to reimburse me the amount for the parts - but not the labor, which was an infuriating compromise. And for two months now, since his reimbursement, he has only screened my calls, and denied me any of the $546 owed. I, again, do not doubt he is a good guy, as he so proudly proclaimed upon meeting him...and he did save us at that juncture, but he is now showing his pride is greater than his goodness. We do not deserve such treatment, for a failed job that we paid for, and while he sits with even MORE money from the Carquest's kind favor of reimbursement of the parts we sent back to him. He mentioned his father's death in a conversation back early January, mentioning that he would be sending money asap...but this is not justifiable business ethic, no matter what is happening in a business owner's personal life. I do NOT recommend service with Tom's Shop, AT ALL, unless he makes right this situation...

Was desperate to get my wife in a new car, the car seemed decent enough for the price so we purchased it. I was in the process of buying my first home and was looking for something affordable. A few weeks after purchasing I was detailing the car and noticed many greasy used car dealer tactics. Things like touch up paint in spots only at eye level( if you looked higher it was raw metal of rusted), black spray paint over spray that had obviously been recently applied to the running boards and reese hitch to make it appear in better shape then it was. A few weeks after that the cheap (brand new kelly tires) had a blow out on the highway. They put the cheapest tire they could find on the market to make the car seem like a better deal. I had second thoughts before even going into Auto Corral as they have a poor reputation. The husband of the owner of the business owns Precision Auto on the other end of town -who have also been know to do pretty shady business as well. I wish I would have gone with my gut. Last week the paint started peeling off the door of the car. When I went to see if Auto Corral had any interest in standing behind the cars they sold she replied "not on anything this vintage". She mixed up her stoires about three times during the visit so I left. I would stay away if I were you. The only thing vintage about the sour deal that went down was the old hag that sold us the car.
