We didn't have cell phone reception so we marched to the nearest house where a very helpful lady suggested we try to get back into Gunnison and drop the car at Gunnison Country Collision. Best suggestion ever! When we got there, Marty (the owner) came out and looked at the car right away. This is a family owned business and everyone was so gracious and helpful. We had a car load full of stuff and needed to get back to Denver. Martay (the owner's daughter) took us to the airport where we could rent a car. We transferred all of our stuff over and took off. Our car insurance took forever to get out there and assess the damage but Martay was wonderful at keeping us updated. Once the car insurance approved the repairs they got to work ordering parts and getting it all patched up. It was ready to go when they said it would be. Once we heard it was ready to go, we had trouble scheduling a time to drive all the way back out there to pick it up. Marty, the owner, was heading up to Denver the next day to watch a hockey game if I recall correctly and offered to drive the car back for us! I could not believe our luck. That is not a short drive and for anyone to offer to do that was just short of a miracle. I have never experienced such friendly and wonderful customer service and the car looked great too! Recently took my 2005 Suburban from Dallas to Crested Butte to help a friend with a remodeling…read moreproject. My local mechanic had told me before hand that I might need a new engine (long story there), so I knew the trip was risky. I made it to Crested Butte, but not further. I checked with my local guy, wondering if it would make $ense to ship it home to have the engine replaced there, but SkyHigh had a better price. So...I flew home and left the Oinker (pet name for the truck) with SkyHigh for an engine replacement. They worked over the 4th of July weekend to get the job done, purely voluntarily I might add as I hadn't thrown up any flares about urgent need of the truck or anything like that. I picked the truck up and made it back to Dallas without a glitch. Truck ran like a top all the way home AND....they even reset the clock. I mean I'd just put a new set of tires on it, and those people couldn't even be bothered to reset the tire pressure monitors and SkyHigh took the time to reset the clock. Amazing.

They communicated right away, gave me a timeline for the repair, explained my options, and kept me in the loop every step. Even when I went to pickup the van I was going to be there after hours so I asked them to leave the key in it and as I was walking around the van - Juan came out to make sure it was me and not somebody poking around. I specifically chose a tire shop rather than another gas station because I needed assistance and was happy to pay for it. The employee directed me to their self-service air hose and said he would come help if needed. Despite clearly struggling, neither he nor another employee working in the garage offered any assistance. I ended up overinflating my tires, exactly what I was trying to avoid. I expected basic customer service from a professional tire shop, not to be completely dismissed and ignored. Very disappointing and would not recommend.

I write this review with some reluctance because I was happy at first with Greg's work. He installed a windshield in my car from a company that another installer said had produced some defective windshields. Greg did at least replace the first one, but unfortunately with the same brand, and that also turned out to be defective. (Both also had a uniformly dense cloud of sight-limiting speckles, which only showed up in the very early morning when the sun shined through at a slight angle.) Despite my sending him photographic evidence of the problem, he refused to see it or fix it, insulting me along the way.

Jeff at John Roberts was very helpful and set me up with an appointment. When I arrived,, he greeted me, took my information, and gave me an estimate of how long it would take. He then pointed me to the waiting room and told me there would be coffee. As promised, my vehicle was finished a little quicker than his estimated time. I was towed into Gunnison on a Saturday and they opened on the following Monday. I spoke to the…read moreservice manager and he committed to checking out my truck the same day. Later that afternoon they called me and told me the problem I had with a critical senser. (The other repair shops could not look at my truck for at least a week.) They had to order that part from Denver. With the Interstate Hwy 70 closed West of Denver, there were shipping problems causing delays. They told me that they could repair my truck the same day that they get the part. That Wednesday they called me and they had repared my truck. They charged me a reasonable fee for their services. Unfortunately my hotel charged me much more money than my truck repairs. I was happy that John Roberts got my truck repaired in a timely mannor and I got to check out of that unreasonable motel.

Avoid this place. What a nightmare…read more I needed a new (used) engine for my car. They were friendly and fairly quick in getting the work completed except (1) there was no oil in the engine when I initially went to pick up my car and I had to, inconveniently, (2) take my car back three more times to remedy oil leaks. I have no certification that the engine had the mileage they said it had. I was also never offered a loaner car nor a ride back to my home for these repeated visits. To be honest, they made me feel like I was out of line for wanting my car to run to my satisfaction after spending a lot of money. When I asked about the owner, the office assistant told me on two separate occasions: "the owner can't do anything for you" and that I needed "to mind my own business." I understand that English is not her first language and that is completely fine but she needs to understand that repeated return visits after spending $5000 is a big deal in my experience. She needs to try to tread a little more carefully about how she treats dissatisfied customers, regardless of the language. It's a pretty simple concept. On my final visit to pick up my car her bad attitude was still evident. Six weeks later, my car is leaking from the head gaskets. An independent mechanic inspected my car and told me the engine was not resealed at installation which any mechanic putting in a new engine would do. The labor to fix this, to get to the head gaskets, is money I do not have. They refuse to produce any paperwork, including the warranty, on the engine. A complete and utter hassle as I am not in the Gunnison area any longer. This is my experience with this place. Zero stars.
