They help me pick out the best dirt for what I'm doing and can help suggest plants or care for them as well. I can often find things here that are not in other stores too. My problem is that I will go in for one thing, but end up leaving with 10! Haha. It's a fun problem to have. Most of the plants are outside and wrapped along their building, but there are some more inside along with gardening tools, seeds, etc.. Because they are not a chain store, their prices are a little higher than a Home Depot or Green Acres, but everything seems to be more hand chosen and it feels good to support local. There are a couple parking spots out front, but may be a little challenging to get back onto Folsom Blvd because it's at a busy intersection. I like to park on the side street where there is plenty of parking available.

I had reached out Mona WAY in advance to snag a spot at the Prickly and signed the contract to rent the space. About a month prior to the event, we solidified all the details with Mona and Ines. We had hired several vendors to come in with food, decor/ balloons and a bar service. The party went off without any issues and the guests loved the location. Mona and Ines were delightful to work with and put all my questions at ease. We had about 45-50 people at the party, which was a great number of guests for the site size and room to move around and so forth. This place is so cute-I haven't been to a ton of nurseries as I've generally picked up my cactus plants at random spots like a midtown market or a Trader Joe's or as gifts from people but I will say this was one of the cuter nurseries I've been to. When we arrived I walked around a bit to check out what they had to offer-what was in season and wondering where the cactus plants were. I liked this little sign they had in the middle of their nursery which advised everyone what was in season and what should be planted at this time of year-for a newbie green thumb person like myself-information like that is very helpful. After walking around a bit I decided on the cutest little cactus to add to my collection at home and it cost me $7.99,so cheap and my daughter decided to get a snow peas plant($7.49). The store inside is also fun to browse with both garden accessories, as well as gifts, fun items, and local things that someone with an interest in gardening would also enjoy. The staff is friendly and helpful and there's even sometimes a cute and friendly cat that's wondering around to greet guests. On my latest visit I was there for a candle making class with Black Lily Naturals in Propagate's large event space. The whole building is beautiful, with stained glass windows, brick walls, and beautiful plants everywhere. They offer services like repotting and soil refreshing, and their staff is very friendly. The event space is large and lit well and the candle making class has about twenty five people where we were all comfortably able to sit at tables and enjoy the activity. They offer the space as a venue for private events, parties and weddings as well. Parking in the area is street parking, and you'll want to keep an eye on signage for parkmobile info or other parking info so you don't get a ticket. I'm excited to head back soon!

They also sell Bonsai soil for much less than Any other dealer. They have specialty bonsai, soil (for Azeleas) and bonsai pots as well. Well, some of the major specimens may not be for sale. They do have very large trees for sale that are one of a kind. Ask them what you're looking for and they may be able to find it. The Sacramento community is lucky to have this Nursery.
