The most beautiful and gigantic plant nursery I have ever seen. It's located in a Historic fruit packing shed, ( a huge rustic warehouse ). I loved just looking up inside this building, you could see the old workings from it past. It seems like half a mile of plants. The inventory is huge and I could have spent a Million dollars here . And the plants were reasonably priced. Better than big box nurseries. Rare plants. My friend and I were in Heaven. There's a Cafe with indoor and outdoor seating that's always booked. Reservations are essential, my friend and I thought we could slip in and have lunch, it was a 45 minute wait, only finding that out after we had stood in line for over 20 minutes plus.. The property is like a beautiful garden with a koi pond and wonderful garden art that I wanted so, so badly. Money . There's also an olive oil and vinegar tasting room and a separate gift shop all in this wonderful warehouse setting. My friend bought 2 oils costing $40.00 . But they were exquisite, beautiful and flavorful and unique tasting. Yum. High hand also has a venue for weddings and I believe a brewery. It's mind blowing ! Serious gardeners must visit there. This is one beautiful nursery! If you are in Loomis or just wanting to visit a one of a kind nursery, you must check out High Hand. I enjoyed myself in the nursery after eating at High Hand Cafe. I walked around to find myself greeted by beautiful plants and trees. They had unique fruit trees; various types of plums. I noticed there was a succulent making station with clear directions on how to make one. This was a cool part of the nursery. I enjoyed the koi pond along with the decor. There was a few places on this property to check out but on the day I went, the register outside was closed and directed customers who wanted to buy anything to go to the shop inside to make purchases. I appreciated this direct communication. When I looked at the various plants, I did not see anything wrong with the prices. I found you got what you paid for. Some friends treated me here for my birthday, and I absolutely loved the experience! The nursery is beautiful. You can sit amongst the plants and enjoy some lunch. Their appetizers were a lot better than their salads. I heard the brick oven pizza is good but I didn't have one because we were there early for lunch. This place is perfect for a birthday, Mother's Day, or any special occasion! It will really make it special. Omg can I live here? Amazing and sprawling nursery. Plus the outdoor restaurant in the greenhouse so amazing. We ordered chicken salad sandwich, salmon, salad, fish, tacos, everybody enjoyed their food. Love that they allowed us to have our dog with us. She loved that. Such an adorable venue. They also have a bar and music venue on the opposite side of the property. Service was fine. Although one of the servers (not ours) brought our dog some water. Very sweet. A little pricey for food. This review is about the cafe. The nursery is lovely, large and well worth a visit. If you go to the cafe, with a companion, during lunch don't expect to be able to converse with your partner. This is one of the loudest restaurants I've ever visited. The waiter even struggled to get our orders. Next time, I'm eating outside. Last night we went to High Hand Brewery to listen and dance to The Used Cars. We've been here several times before. Last night we had the best service every there from start to finish. Our waitress, Bel, arrived within a couple of minutes of us sitting down. She was very pleasant, brought us our menu and took our drink order. On a regular basis, she would check back on us and would deliver our drinks in a very timely fashion. She does what many do not, which is scan her tables when she walked by and brought a huge tray of drinks at a time efficiently instead of making bunches of small trips. The bartenders must have been Johnny on the spot as well. We were very pleased with our experience. read more

It's peaceful, full of greenery, and totally dog friendly -- our pup loved walking around the gardens while we explored. Their weekend brunch is amazing, and the lunch options don't miss either -- especially the wood-fired pizzas and steak salad. This place is incredible! Definitely worth the stop if you're just passing through or making a point to check out. My family and I were visiting family in Loomis and decided to walk over to check out High Hand. First of this place is HUGE and honestly so dreamy! Who wouldn't want to sip on a brewski or glass of wine while walking around looking at plants to buy?! They have a love garden and plants for sale to browse and enjoy. Nestled in the middle is a cute cafe adorned with lush plants inside. I didn't get a chance to eat at the cafe, but it's in my bucket list now. Once you keep walking, you pass some cute succulents and then inside to indoor plants. Next up you'll find an olive oil, balsamic tasting room. A huge variety of fun, different options to try. I ended up buying a garlic cilantro white balsamic for home! As you keep walking next you'll find a little art gallery and a little cute little artisan store. Then finally you'll run into the brewery in the back with live music playing too! Such a neat spot to browse through and shop a little. read more

My daughter planned a day for us to enjoy this exquisite venue. I live almost two hours away and we routinely like to plan a special day together. High Hand delivered! I'd never been but we will be returning. We arrived on a Friday that was also a holiday. The wait time for lunch was almost an hour. We amused ourselves in the nursery portion and within about 40 minutes our table was ready. We were seated outside at a lovely part of the cafe. Sarah was our server and was delightful. I ordered the crab cakes and jicama slaw and my daughter chose the shrimp tacos and a side veggie salad. We enjoyed our visit and the beauty around us and soon our food was delivered. My three crab cakes were perfectly prepared and seasoned, so delicious. My daughter's tacos were just what she wanted. Food was delicious, service top notch and totally reasonable prices. We are already planning another trip to visit all the shops we didn't have time for today and to dine in the cafe. Put it on your list to visit! read more

There is so much to say about this nursery and cafe. Since we have been coming here several years ago, we have been regulars to the cafe. During the wait times, we'll stroll the nursery both before dining and afterwards. I have never experienced a nursery with so many beautiful things--especially the setting and location. I visited here with my girlfriend and my sister. We walked into an empty nursery and walked around for maybe 15 minutes and stumbled across a staghorn fern on the floor. I picked it up and was planning on purchasing it and went to ask the lady selling olive oil for the price. She told me the price and said she could check me out inside of the olive oil shop. As soon as I walked over to purchase the plant, an employee appeared seemingly out of nowhere and said that plant was on hold. We told her we were unaware of this as it was just sitting on the floor unattended, and the only people inside of the store was the olive oil lady and us. She said "nope it's on hold but, there's another one just like it hanging on the wall and you can take that one" My girlfriend followed her over and grabbed the plant off of the wall and said okay we'll take this one. Then again, out of nowhere, two white women appeared with another employee and said that plant was reserved for them as well. At this point we were confused as they had JUST told us the plant was available to purchase. My girlfriend clarified that we just pulled that plant off of the wall and the original plant was just sitting on the floor with no one around and how was this possible. Suddenly three more employees showed up and began to argue with us as they said the plants were reserved and the two white women began to get closer and closer to us as a form to intimidate us. The entire situation seemed racially motivated as if we were trying to steal or something. We each had items in hand worth at least over $100 each as well were visiting from out of town and wanted to bring home souvenirs. The two white women and the employees said you guys can buy these instead and brought out two miniature plants. The appeal of the original plants was that they were large. We didn't understand why we were told we could buy the plants in the first place only to then be told they were on "hold". It seemed as if the women were just saying it was on "hold" on the spot to refuse us service. The group of women kept arguing and as we felt defeated and threatened, we said okay then we are not going to be purchasing anything from your business. Once the employees heard this they all said no come back and we ignored and kept walking. Extremely disappointed that this happened to us as we are women of color. I would highly recommend you skip this place if you are a person of color. It was very disappointing that the employees sided with the white women and joined in on intimidating us. I have visited this nursery before and noted that they have dropped their prices a lot since the last time I visited, maybe this is a reflection of their poor customer service. This is no bad review to the lady who was working at the olive oil station, on the contrary to the other women, she was very kind to us and seemed disappointed by the other women. read more

High Hand Nursery is located in the quaint, and quiet town of Loomis. They have a wide selection of indoor, and outdoor pants, including trees. During our visit, we saw a wide variety of Japanese maples in all sizes, and price ranges, a huge selection of pine trees, topiaries, ginkgo biloba 'Little Leaf' male ginkgo trees, hanging plants, including bright an healthy fuchsias, hibiscus plants, even ones with black leaves, loads of succulents, and even a DIY succulent pot making station, with pots, soil, and succulents to crate your dream colorful live succulent arrangement in the pot of your choice, as well as pots, soil, and years art! Additionally, there's a koi pond, a café, a brewery that has live music, and an ice cream shop that sells souvenirs, pickled items, and a wide selection of salsa. We even learned that you can even get married at High Hand. The conservatory can accommodate up to 90 guests in the dining area, and additional 20 guests on the patio. All private events take place after 5:30 pm Wednesdays-Saturdays. I had my heart set on bringing home a multi-colored lantana. After a brunch at their cafe, we went to the nursery to find a multi-colored lantana. It was about 3:45 pm, when we began to get rushed by employees. We were confused because it was still early in the day. We hand no idea, they close at 4 pm on Sundays! They promised to keep a register open for us, so we requested help to find a multi-colored lantana. After we secured our lantana we hurried back to the cashier, but were told by an employee that it was too plate to complete our purchase. It was confusing, because minutes earlier we were told they'd hold a cashier open for us, while another employee escorted us to the lantanas. We thought we'd check-in at the register to make sure, and she was in fact waiting for us! We checked out at 3:59 pm, and all was good in the world. As far as their prices to, hey seemed pretty comparable to our other favorite nursery that has several locations in and around Sacramento. If you plan to visit, please set aside ample time, because it takes at least a couple of hours to browse their indoor and outdoor plant inventory, and even more time of you visiting the café or brewery. High Hands' hours are Monday-Saturday, 9 am-5 pm, and Sundays 9 am-4 pm. Next time we visit, and there will be a next time, we will definitely come earlier! read more

We had my sister's bridal shower in the private area of the cafe on 5/23/26. WHAT A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!!! Isabel was our server and she took PHENOMENAL care of us!!! Serving 30 people is no easy task and not only did she stay on top of all of our needs she went above and beyond to ensure that we had an incredible experience!!! It's a little difficult to get ahold of people over the phone but other than that it was a seamless experience!!! The food was incredible and the ambiance was TO DIE FOR!!! 11/10 would recommend!!! Incredible evening! The Christmas dinner menu is fabulous. The Cafe is spectacular all dressed in his Christmas glory. The nursery is spectacular in it's million of white lights. I'd say it's a nice place to go to for a small morning/afternoon outing. It has more of a botanical garden vibe compared to other nurseries; a little bit of everything that's scattered and not strictly placed in long rows. Might not find a specific plant that you're looking for but still high chances of impulse buying something! Kinda wished the houseplant section in particular was more extensive seeing that it's located in such a spacious building. Still, neat to see a couple of uncommon plant varieties. Very fairly priced plants in general btw (decently sized monstera Thai constellations that are less than $40, hello???). There's also a robust, meal-service cafe here (High Hand Cafe; it has its own Yelp listing if you want more info about it). No trouble finding parking in the lot on a weekday but I can see folks having to resort parking on the street especially during peak cafe times like Sunday brunch. read more

This may be my favorite nursery ever.. Big place with numerous outdoor seating areas,beautiful trees, plants,yard art,pottery, art, and jewelry,live music, and metal yard sculptures. One of the coolest features is their attached brewery. You can grab a cold one and wander through the block long building, nursery area. Brewery has food,mixed drinks,seltzer, and wine, and they also have a cafe next to the nursery. The experience is amazing and got to say, a great date spot (if I can get one). We started with brunch. I got the chicken cider with potato salad. The sandwich was insane! The flavors were light but balance really well . I didn't feel awful after but was full for sure. The Diet Cola they offer--Idk glass bottle it was good. My sisters and I took my mom for lunch to celebrate her birthday. Reserved for a party of six online. We ordered the lemon artichoke appetizer, which was good, but the amount was maybe for like three people. We also ordered the pretzel as an appetizer, which was very soft but crunchy on the outside recommend. We ordered the chicken focaccia sandwich which the focaccia bread was kind of hard and fell apart and was a little on the dry side. I would give that sandwich at 3. The tri-tip sandwich was also ordered and it was more bread than meat. The table also ordered pizza, which was OK. I ordered a watermelon Paloma, which I would not order again, but the hibiscus mule was excellent. That is recommended. The peach cobbler was a hit. We ordered two for the table to share also a carrot cake, which was not good. The waiter ended up taking it off our top so total for six we spent over $300 for lunch. We sat outside and it was really hot and stuffy, and the chairs are extremely uncomfortable. The tip was already included in the bill so our server came by twice maybe to ask if everything was OK and was trying to put plates of food down without picking up empty plates from the appetizers or the empty glasses. Our table was small so we were trying to maneuver arranging all the food and drinks. My mom had been there years ago but had always wanted to go back unfortunately we picked the time a day that was hot so didnt walk around and enjoy all the nursery. The appetizers and hibiscus mule was good. I don't know if I drive over an hour for it again though. read more

We have been here more than 10 times and have always loved it. Today the crab cakes that we normally love had no flavor and they had ran out of the corn salsa that is supposed to go with them. We were a party of 5 and two of us ordered the fish tacos only to both get insanely sick about 30 min after eating with diarrhea, vomiting, and blood in our stools! We are the only two to get sick and the only two to get sick so it was clearly that. Neither of us had eaten yet and don't live together so it 100% was the fish tacos. In addition to this, we waited 45 min for our food and we had to ask for more water after having several empty glasses for 20 min. I'm not sure what was going on today but it was very out of the usual for this place but whatever it is they better fix it!! I'm not sure we will go back after this and will certainly be telling others about our experience. read more

They have a wide variety of plants available, it's almost overwhelming at first! Everything is well organized into their sections and it makes for such a nice stroll through after brunch next door! Their plants look healthy and well taken care of, and they vary in price and size as well depending on what you're looking for!
