It's light and bright and pretty old school, they have a bartender, nice staff and good food. It was all done up for Christmas as this was the time I went. I believe to become a member you have to be sponsored to join basically like any private club. If asked to join you have "basically arrived" I don't doubt they have other events, like a wedding, prom and other parties as long as your sponsored by a member this is my thought. Sitting outside, it became chilly and the waitress brought shawls for warmth. Very nice and considerate. The interior was warn and looked to be stripped out. Parties are hosted, but without a gang of people there you would see that the club needs to rehabilitate and dress up the two ball rooms/party areas. They provide name tags so everyone can get to know one another more easily. The crash course brings you up to speed with no prior knowledge needed. The instructors are skillful and offer great explanations. The founder's (Allison) passion is evident. She makes every effort to ensure the space is safe, welcoming, and fun. The best part is the social dancing afterwards. Everyone is so inclusive and friendly. We have met many friends through this group and now we make it a point to go to every event they're hosting. I came here as a child in the late 1980s when I was just riding trains and having fun, and I now come as a serious machinist modeler to learn new skills and enjoy the friendships. They have several public open house days throughout the year where you can ride their trains and learn about the club. They have an large scale (G scale) layout too if you cannot afford the larger trains. The property is well kept up and the tracks themselves ride perfectly with no derailments.
