I suddenly developed a cataract in my left eye over a period of 3-4 months. Needless to say, I was freaked out. I thought that if I ever developed cataracts, it would be later in life. Except for needing glasses, I have never had any eye problems. Since cataract surgery is an operation that you have done only once (there are exceptions, but the risk of complications increases dramatically) I did more than a bit of research and saw 6, count em, six, ophthalmologists before deciding on Dr. Almallah to do the surgery. He was the most expensive, but was also the most competent guy in my opinion. I wanted someone who not only did a lot of surgeries, but also had a lot of surgeries with the specific brand of lens that I was getting. I'm a pretty frugal guy, but to save a few hundred bucks for anything but the best didn't seem very wise. I couldn't be happier with my decision. I got a Trulign lens, which is the astigmatism correcting version of Bausch & Lomb's Crystalens. Now this may not be the right one for someone else, but in doing my research I tried to find as much information as I could on what other people's choices and real life experiences were. My vision is better than 20/20 in that eye, and can see well at intermediate distances. I do need +2 drug store "cheaters" for reading. This was exactly what Dr. Almallah told me would be the case. I subsequently saw Dr. D'Alterio, a optometrist in the same practice, who fitted me for a contact lens for my right eye so the vision in both eyes would line up, so to speak. He also did a very good job. Wearing the contact is a little bit of a hassle, but I didn't want to spend the $ to have the surgery in the second eye, and more importantly, it didn't make sense to me to have an operation on an eye that didn't need it. read more

Terrible place . You can't get in touch with anybody in the office . They will text you on co-pays and charges for missing appointments and being late . They're only concerned is money and when you get there they will probably not accept your insurance . They don't answer the phone when the insurance company calls them . And no one there knows who the practice in Brick . You better off going to a veterinarian read more

Dr. D'Alterio is efficient, kind, and knowledgeable. I always appreciate a doctor who really listens to their patients and takes time to answer any questions thoughtfully. From everyone at the front desk to the technicians, I have had almost all positive experiences--they're pleasant people! The only issue I've experienced is sometimes the wait time can be very long. The most recent was about an hour and 15 minutes total time from arriving to departure, and they had gotten me in pretty quick. Make sure to let them know if you have other obligations after the appointment and they'll do their best to get you seen and out the door. I recommend Dr. D'Alterio for sure! read more

Please allow me to begin by saying that I am not a complainer. After seven years of going to the brick location, my insurance changed for the worse. However due to loyalty and trust, I decided to remain a patient of the doctors I had come to know. After paying out of pocket for an initial eye exam and lens fitting, the optician refused to release my p.d. measurement because I was not purchasing lenses or glasses through their gallery due to financial constraints. The techs and doctor also refused. This prevented me from ordering glasses at all, rendering the exam a waste of money. As for the contact lens fitting, the left eye axis was not perfect and that eye wouldn't focus at all. Dr Felicia insisted that this was okay since I was seeing 20/20 with both eyes. After some time I developed headaches when wearing the contacts (I have never in 20 years of wearing contacts experienced this.). Because I found cheaper lenses elsewhere I returned to request an adjustment so that I could return the lenses that I couldn't use for correct ones. They refused to adjust the prescription without charging me a second time because 30 days had passed since my first fitting. I did not get the impression that the doctor was at all concerned with my health, because after being left in the exam room for twenty minutes, they eventually sent the receptionist into the exam room to try and sell me on the idea of second charge. I walked out. I should not be punished for not buying overpriced product from their extremely limited gallery. During these visits I was privy to complaining conversations between the reception desk and the optical gallery which was within earshot from the waiting room. On two occasions In the exam room, the techs vented extensively to me about how displeased they were with the working conditions. At a total loss of understanding for these terrible experiences, I attempted to reach an office administrator to discuss my experience. I was denied this point of contact when calling to inquire. Again, I am not a complainer, but I thought that someone out there should hear about this experience before making up their own minds. FYI vision works accepted me as a walk in, and in 40 minutes I was walking out with everything I needed at a fraction of Susskind and Amallah's price point. They also released my p.d. measurement without question and before payment, and advised me to consult a lawyer regarding my experiences at s&a. While I would like a response from an administrator, if the measure of this practice's sense of customer service is defined by the staff at the brick location, I expect it would be a very, very short conversation. read more

My first experience at the Brick office, top notch professional caring people from the receptionist, Janette and Dr Birdie in an out in an hour. Everyone was so compassionate and caring it was unbelievable. I would highly recommend this office to anyone. No double appointments or long waits but again it was the people that made the experience! read more

I selected Dr. Almallah to perform my under eye fillers because I thought he would be more experienced in that area since he is an eye doctor. HUGE MISTAKE. He may be a good eye doctor but NOT A GOOD FILLER INJECTOR. Go to an experienced doctor and save your money. Mine went to waste as I had to go to a facial plastic surgeon for corrections, not to mention the bruising for over a week bec he hit a few veins and I paid premium price for him.
