Weather before our trip had been very tough with high winds and rough seas. We lucked out on weather but fish were scattered and not biting at first. Andy used his years of experience and we ended up with a pretty good haul of quality sized albacore. Our group was half experienced anglers and half newbies. Andy and Jim took their time and made sure everyone was comfortable and got the most out of the adventure. There are many things to see and do in and around Garibaldi. We stayed in Rockaway Beach (Andy's on the money recommendation!) and explored from Tillamook up to Brighton and there are still many places and things we want to go back and see. They help inexperienced clients and long-time anglers alike. The level of care is appropriate for each customer. The light tackle trips are nearly always limit fishing with a few to several crabs as well. Deep reef fishing is similarly successful. Salmon and albacore trips are less predictable - it is called fishing, not catching, and the tuna can be pretty demanding. These guys are the best. Terry on the gaff is a pleasure to see. Nearly every gaffed fish nis a clean head shot. I heartily recommend them for any of the trips they run. A crew that will go the distance for everyone on the Alaska Sunrise. Take it to the bank.

Everyone on and off the train were smiling! Little kids loved it too. And as the train rolled by slowly, the people in the shops waved at you and you of course, waved back. Mother's with toddlers stood near the tracks just to wave as it went by. The weather was perfect with lots of sun yet just enough wind to keep you cooled off. Perfect! And rockway felt like it was in a time warp... like a normal Rockwell painting on life magazine! Seriously... felt like you were in 1952's!!! Oh and many people also brought their dogs with them! Wonderful! Only wish it was cleaner and they could fully refurbish the cars. Could be a great organised joint volunteer project... for seniors and teens. All and all we loved it and the town!

It would have been nice to spend more time in Wheeler shopping. The train seems to move at a snails pace in some parts.

This is the best port in Tillamook bay for crabbing and accessing the ocean…read more It offers 4 boat launch lanes, ample free parking for cars, $10 boat launch/trailer parking fee, free life preservers to borrow, and convenient nearby bait shops, restaurants, and restrooms. Also there's now a nearby food cart pod just off highway 101, so you'll have lunch/dinner covered if you don't have much luck fishing/crabbing.

Or they are at church giving thanks? The pile of lumber the karen complained about is apparently long gone. I've been coming here a few times a year for the past 35 years or so and I can't say that I've ever seen her opinion of an eyesore. And creosote is not especially harmful unless you consume it in large quantities. So let's talk about the good in Garibaldi and there is plenty of that here. Not a lot of places to eat but there are a few. With the scamdemic dining options are more limited but I'm sure the shop owners are suffering a lot more than their hungry wannabe patrons. The OCSR runs daily excursion trains daily during summer hours up to Rockaway. They also do very limited availability runs up to Salmonberry if you are lucky enough to get on one of those. The track bed gets increasingly rough as the years go by and that line did go all the way to Banks (and perhaps to Hillsboro if I recall correctly) not that long ago. The marina is great. I don't happen to have a boat but I love going there and talking to the skippers of old wooden vessels and taking photographs. These sailors come from all over and are mostly very friendly and happy to chat with dumb tourists like myself. The only negative, and it's really not a serious negative due to safety reasons but there is often a cop with radar at either end of town. I don't know what the limit is for actually getting a ticket but a small amount of inattention could potentially spoil your whole day. Of course if you run someone over because you are speeding that would spoil their whole day so..... Garibaldi is one of my favorite little towns along 101 and I've run the length of it from the Olympic peninsula to California.

He knows the Nehalem river Chinook run better than anyone else. He took us out in the ocean in 200 feet of water for some great Coho fishing. The best reason to go out with John is that he's a hell of a guy. He has an incredibly distinguished client roster--the who's who of Portland--who keep coming back again and again. In the summer, he takes anyone from 11-year olds fishing with their dads for the first time, business people, or experienced fishermen looking to learn a few things. He fished with us for over 8 hours until we got our fish.

Harbor Seals, Bald Eagles, Cranes, and several other birds (I can't remember their names-oops) What a great way to spend a morning. In fact, it was the highlight of the entire trip. We all agreed we should've booked more trips for the week. Guess we'll just have to visit again. Not that Josh isn't absolutely charming all on his own, but bringing his wiener dog along, made us all have hearts in our eyes. Great Job in helping us create some fantastic memories.
