Super fun little Beach, the waves were perfect and there's a cute little cave to chill in!

Large open flat beach! Perfect spot for a picnic, sand toy time, and beach strolling. I went at very low tide and was graced with views of the historic route around the point and sea caves. Totally worth the timing to see the cool geology and history. Parking lot is small and this is a free park to visit. People with difficulties will not be able to access the beach here as there are stairs down to the beach.

Cool spot with lots of character and, thanks to a lack of parking, doesn't feel overly crowded. We had to park along the 101 on this Saturday afternoon...we were pretty thankful to have squeezed in at all. There is a parking lot, but it fills up fast. We failed to check on the tides, and as a result got a lil cove-blocked by Mother Nature, but we still got to explore the immediate area. Great cave-like cracks to check out, it's just a gorgeous spot to hang out or roam. The falls, although just a trickle at this time of year, were still lovely. Just another special stop along the beautiful Oregon coast. More to see and do, we will be back!

Came here a few months back near the end of Summer, what a wonderful time! Be sure to look up Hug Point and plan your day when coming here, we were here for a while checking out all the views, sights, walking around, just enjoying the outdoors and beach vibes! A lot of rock formations to see, caves to check out, plenty of gems to check out while visiting. I don't know what else to say.....I guess see photos.

I came for a vacation get away.. it was low tide so we felt totally comfortable exploring all areas of the beach. If you plan on snapping some pics your going to have to be patient as a lot of people are there to capture the beauty of this location. It's absolutely breathtaking as me a must see if you're in Oregon.

I heard about Hug Point on OnlyInYourState.com, and being on the coast to escape the dreadful heat (115°!) back in Portland this weekend, we had to check it out. Unfortunately, a lot of other people had the same idea, and the parking lot was completely full, so we found a spot along the highway and walked our way back towards the "official" entrance way to the park. However, a few hundred feet from the parking lot entrance, we found a rough trail that wound its way down the cliff towards the freshwater stream that feeds the waterfall. This trail includes a rope that some helpful hiker (or trail management team) installed to help secure your footing down an otherwise treacherous descent - absolutely NOT recommended for acrophobes or the inexperienced. But if you can manage rappelling down a steep, uneven trail, you have instant access to the best part of Hug Point, emerging from the stream bed atop the waterfall that flows down to the beach itself, even if the tides otherwise block your approach from the main entrance! Even on a perfect, 85° day, this secluded stretch of sand was nearly devoid of people; only one other party was present during our visit at 2:30pm, despite the aforementioned parking lot being full. We explored the caves, splashed around in the waterfall and freshwater stream, explored nearby tidepools, and enjoyed the peace and seclusion of this fabulous spot. New favorite Oregon beach? You beach-ya!

Had the best beach hike to see the sea caves. Make sure you go before low tide, I arrived an hour before low tide and stayed about an hour. It was perfect.

Beautiful place to watch the sunset. Ample off highway parking on a hill. Short and steep incline to the beach. And a sea cave!

Great little beach area very near Cannon Beach's Haystack Rock area, very much worth a stop! There's a lovely waterfall on the beach. It was a small trickle when I visited but apparently gets quite large when there's enough water! The parking was free when we visited, not sure if you normally have to pay. It's a paved lot on a fairly steep hill and is pretty busy. But we didn't have to wait long for a spot. There's also a bathroom in the parking area. After parking, it's a small hike down to the beach. The beach is clean with soft sand and lots of caves! There were broken sand dollars scattered all over the sand! We even saw a brilliant purple jellyfish! Would be a great spot for a beach day or picnic!

Pretty big cave you can climb in at low tide.

Awesome beach. My kids loved the caves you can climb in and the rock pathway to cross over to the other side of the beach. The waterfall was dumb...just tiny little streams falling off a rock. But the caves were definitely worth the stop. Decent sized parking lot. Free parking.

Great views from Hug point but no haystack rock

Hidden Gem! This is one of the most underrated spots in the Cannon beach area. We learned about this spot from a local who runs a shop in town. I wish I knew her name (or the name of her shop) so I could give her a shoutout. You have to walk down a pretty short beach path to get here and, once you do, you are rewarded with some amazing scenery and natural forms. There is a little waterfall and, at low tide, you can explore some of the caves and crevices down on the beach. There were even MORE starfish and sea anemones here than at Haystack rock a mile down the beach. An added bonus was that there were very few people on this beach. It was mostly joggers and people walking their dogs. Definitely make the drive to this spot. There is a nice parking lot and it would be a great place to have a picnic or a fire at night. DO not miss out on Hug Point!

Absolutely spectacular. We arrived at a high tide so it wasn't as easy to get around the rocks to visit the waterfall and caves, but took our socks and shoes off despite other people telling us "it wasn't worth it." They were dead wrong! This was such a beautiful spot and we had it all to ourselves (after the grouchy people left)! Definitely check it out. You won't be sorry.

We made it to Hug Point a bit before sunset and I couldn't stop taking pictures of this incredible view! Serene, peaceful, incredible. I am so glad we made this final stop after hiking for 4 hours at Ecola. My legs were weary but this place jump started my heart!

What a wonderful under the radar waterfall this is...Beaver Falls!…read more Located 6 miles east of Clatskanie, Oregon, this area near the Columbia River is beautiful. Let's get straight to the heart of what Beaver Falls is all about... If you plug "Beaver Falls Trailhead" into Google Maps, you'll have no problem finding it. Then just park along the side of Highway 30 and hike 1/3rd of a mile through the forest to the base of the falls. It's that easy. When I visited on a Thursday in early afternoon of July, there was hardly anyone around which was good for taking quality photos. Best of all, you can swim in the waters. So definitely bring a bathing suit, towel and a pair of water shoes so the rocks won't hurt your feet while entering the pool beneath Beaver Falls. The water is cold but once you jump in and get comfortable, it's a terrific setting. There's also a long rope where you can swing across and splash down below. It's great for kids (and adults too, lol) to have playful times. For me, I was content soaking in the pool and appreciating the surroundings. More info... - It's free to visit. - Cell phone reception works fine. - You can walk underneath the falls! This is a Must-Do. You can capture some amazing moments standing beside Beaver Falls. It's not hard or dangerous and offers a unique perspective. - Beaver Falls is just one of many outstanding waterfalls situated around Oregon and especially near the Columbia River. There's also Lower Lewis River Falls, Panther Creek Falls and Spirit Falls, to name a few. - You can spend a few hours hanging out or as little as 30 - 40 minutes. It depends on your time horizon. But overall, it's really pleasant to be here that I'd suggest bringing snacks, lunch and maybe having a picnic. This Beaver Falls is absolutely so much fun to hang out at. When you can swim in the waters, swing from a rope and even walk underneath the falls, It makes for a worthwhile summer visit.
